Lsd and breastfeeding

If this actually works, I'm gonna start mixing trace amounts of LSD with cow-feed across the country. The cows'll trip balls and their psychedelic milk will be distributed to the majority of the population, who will also proceed to trip out.

Imagine the hoards of people going to the hospital because they all think they have food poisoning. And the doctor gets to tell them they're actually just tripping on cid and to enjoy themselves. Maybe enough people will have good experiences to change the common perspective on psychedelics.

areyoukiddingme is one of the reasons I've nearly completely lost hope in the human population.

I am a mom and have tried most things at least once. I can honestly tell you that if you're a mom and you're doing drugs (besides the occasional drink) then you are the most selfish person you could be. Nobody thinks about the future of their child just what they want at that moment. It's especially selfish when there are women out there who can't conceive and wish they could or have miscarriages. I almost had a miscarriage. I had a hemmorage that was the size of my daughter. She really is a miracle. She made it to exactly 40 weeks with me being on best rest and light duty trying not to have her early. I almost went into labor at 26 weeks. She is my world and if you rather do drugs than enjoy a fresh start with your amazing child then you deserve to get caught for one and two grow up and start acting like an adult. Your child depends on you and looks up to you and will copy everything you do. That's all they know. The life you show them is the one they'll stick to. I could see if you were wanting to know in case you get drugged while out having a drink with some friends or something like that for future reference, as I was wondering, but to want to know for your own benefit is rediculous. LSD stays in your spine forever and you lose a small amount of spinal fluid. That is important for proper brain development and what you don't suppliment for your child will just be taken from you when you breastfeed meaning that minerals in your teeth and bones and other random parts of your body will automatically fortify your breastmilk. In other words, even if you are still going to do drugs can't you wait until you are not breastfeeding anymore? What are you 10? ...Selfish!

Wow. I'm blown away by some of the ignorance in this post. You obviously know nothing about LSD, the pharmacology or general effects. It is not the worst thing a parent can do to have a trip. It is a helpful thing in life and parenting gets damn hard, I'm sure. When used in a correct environment it can be a very beneficial thing. Why do you think it was used in therapy in the middle of the 20th century, legally? WE aren't to judge what is a therapeutic setting for someone, because somewhere good for me may be quite different for you. Is it wrong for a parent to go get therapy and have the child babysat while they are there? If they are regularly using drugs, it's a different story. It doesn't sound like the way it was asked was "yo my friend wants to get fucked up on a bunch of acid, a bunch of times" it was one time that they were responsible about, planned out, after a long period of abstinence. /rant

And I must add - if you're HAMMERED as fuck, you probably can't take care of an infant. However, if you do 1 modest hit of acid, and then wait 4-5 hours, i'm absolutely positive that the mother who doses that hit of acid will be TOTALLY FINE to look after an infant. It would probably be an extremely rewarding experience for a parent to cuddle with ones child under the influence of a psychedelic.

I found one reference to this but I cannot remember what the publication was (it was a medicines reference - and thus showing it's age). It said that LSD is contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women.

This is not to say that it necessarily isn't safe - it _may_ just be that there were no conclusive studies done before research stopped on this compound.

At least for lactating women there is little chance of effects on the little one from the chromosomal damage. <tongue in cheek>
