Krokodil: The drug that eats junkies

its not that it turns me on, i find it disgusting it makes me sick and depressed but i still keep watching them. i seem to enjoy the feeling of disturbance it gves me. im defenitley stopping now though.

It's okay. I listen to Swans for the same reason. I can understand the attraction in the macabre. ;)

I used to have this recurring theme in my dreams about having disgusting skin conditions. I'd just sit there in the dream totally absorbed with whatever grotesque affliction I happened to have.

As long as you understand and recognise the terrible episodes these people are going through then that's completely different to just getting sick schoolboy thrills.

Says the man who used to get his ex to pull her hair out in clumps and hand it to him...
 
If I was an adddict in Russia, I'd try to leave the country and move to a safer place, even if it'd be difficult to do. This shit is life-threatening, especially taking into the account available treatment options. :(

On the other hand, I'd love to try pure desomorphin, and it's a shame our pharma lobby isn't interested in selling codeine OTC ;)

Easier said than done, trust me. I'm in Poland and I've planned to move to England for some time now. The only thing that doesn't let me emigrate is the fact I'm addicted. I haven't shot up for almost 2 years now (not counting shooting 3-MF twice to break through buprenorphine when I was at a low dose and I felt terribly sick) and I've been on methadone since February 2010. What can't I move? I got turned down when I applied for a maintenance program in my city and I was turned down in 5 programs in Warsaw.

And well, England isn't in the Schengen zone so although I don't have to have a passport to go there, I still need to have an ID and it's still passing the border both de iure and de facto. So taking methadone I get for myself would be smuggling a controlled substance in big quantity. I've got a serious problem tapering down methadone, I drank as little as 9ml but I felt like shit. Guess how it ended. I went up with the dose and the fun with tapering down started again...

Now you can compare my situation, a citizen of the member state of the EU, and a situation of any Russian addict. :(

Well think about it, part of it is probably killing the pain of the physical problems it produces. Gad, what a nasty cycle that would be...

You people all act so shocked "oh lawds, why would a junkie keep using if he stinks and has health problems?"

In America we see tweaked with rotted teeth and hair and skin, and plenty of armless or abcess-ridden junkies

Yeah this junk is a little more extreme but it's just a more intense version of what has been going on for decades

Did you actually bother to look at the photos/videos before making that post? This is not comparable with a meth head missing a few teeths or having shit skin, there's people with flesh coming off.

Im still not convinced that 'Krockodil' even exists - it makes you arm look like its been bitten by a crocodile nah I think its bollocks especially as the ruskies are getting all the good afghani gear now. When I was 'on the scene' it was full of spanish,italians,french....... cos in london the gear was cheap,good and plentifulI wonder where they alll go now - portugal?

If Heroin comes through Russia and surrounding countries then, most of the time and landing in the relatively small areas of the major cities, it goes through those areas and countries.
Incase you haven't noticed, Russia is one fucking massive country!
If there's someone out in the sticks, compared to the UK, then they will turn to whatever they can to numb the pain they experience every day.
And this is where "Krokodil" comes in - They can buy the needed ingredients from the local pharmacy and they needn't travel for - sometimes literally - days to score some Heroin.

The majority of Russia's youth have a pessimistic attitude that surpasses any mindset that we could think of I'd imagine.
And they will turn to whatever manner of escapism that they can. And this includes Krokodil :\

What book? I've never read any Burroughs, been meaning to for a while.
