MikeySammy: Ah smoother grooves you be after! Try Creative Source, Fabio's Label. Has heaps of lovely bizness.
I picked up the latest two releases last week:
Calibre: Mystic/Feeling
John B: Hold it Down/ (i cant remember the name of the flip)
Two gems!!
Also an old repress: Q Project: Slowdown absolutely magnificent.
Personally I think Creative Source is much better than Good looking, more diversity in sounds, lots of good grooves though.
If you want to pickup a CD go for Fabio presents Liquid Funk. I have the vinyl and its got plenty of good tracks, Big Bud: Future Elements (Fellowship remix) is my fave! The CD is a triple pack with 2 discs of choons and the third one is mixed!
Lots of the other smoother stuff I have is scattered over different labels. Jazz and Bass Sessions 3 (New Identity) is about to come out this week or next, if its anything like the sampler expect more smoothness.
Some other smooth selections:
Blue Sonix: Come On/Feelings (Phuturistic Bluez)
I also have a couple of bootlegs on their way in the mail to me:
Brandy vs Teebee
R&B vs D&B v1
Some stuff on Hospital is pretty funky, especially the Danny Byrd one Do it again plus the Origin Unknown vs London Electricity: Just around the Corner is due out now and that is mmmmm very tasty.
Oh and how could I forget:
J Magik and Cathy Brown: Love is not a Game
I got the promo but the full release might be December or early next year!
Plus the J Magik track Solarize on the Dieselboy mix cd is deluxe (shouts dsci4). Trancey sorta flava. Im waiting for that one.
