Japanese Anime & Manga

*LOL*
yes yes how selfish of me, I forgot about Nezo's domesticated life ;)

u bastards. You're only getting light beer and milk to drink now.
I'm thinking Sunday Feb 2. I've gotta confirm with the missus.
Also, I managed to catch Patlabor 3 at the recent anime festival. I even got to meet the director - that was cool. The movie itself was a bit of a disappoint. Not enuff freaky mecha godamnit. The storeyline was pretty standard as well.
I have to agree with the reviews of spirited away however,..easily one of the best anime movies I've ever seen...

ah dammit I can't make it the 26th - this might turn into a logistical nightmare.
Maybe we hear from Ghost first?

im here! :D
wow, so many posts suddenly!
ummm... im free any day till 29th jan.
if i can get my studio ghibli vcd set back from a friend, i can supply those too.

just outta curiosity... how long is the viewing session expected to last?
(i will be attending luke slater/mistress barbara @ room on the night of 26th)

I've got enuff to keep us going for a least 3 days :p
We really need to kidnap you Ghost!
Are we thinking day or nite?

im gonna take the liberty of emailing everyone and try to get something going, instead of cluttering this thread up ;)

finalised details will be posted: anyone else who decides to join us AFTER we've finalised the details, will just have to make do with the finalised time and dates, i think that's fair?
otherwise this viewing session is not gonna happen (thinks of a particular sydney meetup thread 8) )
:D

dug out the old tapes today and watched megazone 23.
not too good. but not overly bad either.
its about humans being cut off from the earth and living in a self contained city. theres more to it but youd have to watch it anyway.
much better flicks out there...

Ghost in the Shell fans - in addition to the new TV series (Stand Alone Complex) there will also be another movie, titled INNOCENCE: Ghost in the Shell.
It's been produced by Production I.G (who also did the TV series) and co-produced with...wait for it... Studio Ghibli! Anything they touch turns to magic!

For fans of Astroboy - there is a new series of Astroboy in the making as we speak and also some American Co. (their name escapes me for now) is also planning on doing a feature film.
I'm still undecided as to whether this is a good thing or not - especially the feature film???

didnt get to watch Guyver because it was overdue and the boys returned it.
but i'll borrow it myself one day. either in the next week if i have time, or i'll give u the feedback from singapore hastey.
:)

Nezo - I have to agree with you, if the American's get their hands on it they'll fuck it up. In my opnion, I think it should be left as is.
Ghost - maybe we can have a bluelight animefest in Singapore ;)
Also, for those with Cable TV - Cartoon Network has announced 3 more anime series to begin in Feb - Cowboy Bebop,. Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, and Gasaraki. I'm also told that they are also in discussions to acquire three more liscences from Madman, but I'm not sure what the titles are. Yay for CN! Hopefully Cowboy Bebop will NOT be edited, although there were a couple of episodes that weren't even shown in Japan because of their violent nature - go figure hehe.
