Hows Your Diet Lads ? And Any Goals For The Summer ?

Calorie / carb cycling can work and make it easier for a lot of guys to stick to their diets, my only problem diet wise is sugar, I drink lots of tea and sometimes get massive sugar cravings because I'm eating no proper carbs at all just fruit n veg, I think I will make a cheat meal maybe once per week Saturday night Chinese or Indian with the MRS, but fuck knows how I'm gna cut down on the tea , I take 3 sugars and lately have just became mega addicted

diet hasn't been better in nearly 15yrs.
over 10yrs researching food and supplements, an ever evolving system.

these days i follow my own version of The Dolce Diet. the jist is:
- eat earth grown nutrients (nothing processed, no potions or pills - but my version allows a few not found in food)
- eat every 2 to 4hrs, depending what you just did and what your about to do
- eat until your satisfied, not until your full
- BOOM!

the podcast is great, Mike Dolce on itune and a few other places.

Another podcast i listen to for nutrition info and food idea's is Robb Wolfe The Paleo Solution. Its not all about paleo, its more about the body and how it works and just generally staying healthy.

which includes getting good sleep, getting good nutrition and getting some exercise.

so what type of meals do i eat?
- whole egg omelets with baby spinish
- salmon and vege/salad
- tuna and vege/salad
- rarely is chicken or beef

snacks are:
- baked kale
- raw cashew/almond/macadamia mix, small amount
- fruit! don't be afraid of fruit! just limit sugary ones like pinapple, bananna etc. stick to apples, strawberry's, blueberry etc etc. listen to the podcasts for tasty tips.

And constantly drinking water while awake.

12 weeks ago decided to lose a few kg, have gone from 5'9 @ 90kg to 79.9 (was 62kg before training at mid 20's) and kept nearly all my mass, cuts between muscles more defined than ive seen in along time, and didn't go hungry once! infact this 12weeks hasn't even been a "diet" its truely the lifestyle because its not been a chore.

So im 10kg lighter, and feel NOW im ready to actually diet and train harder and see the beast within!

Edit: and now i rarely ever even drink protein powder, and look even better... the more time i invest in researching food, i look better, even when taking 6 or 8 weeks off training! so no longer a supplement junkie, ive pretty much tried everything, and can say they just burn a hole in your pocket, been there done that.

I agree with the whole "eat earth grown nutrients", that's what my diet is all about and is the tastiest diet I have ever been on thanks to my MRS :) But as far as supplements are concerened , they aint dear at all if you only buy the stuff that works , Creatine is essential to me, it's like my D-Bol, recovery time is unbelievable when I'm on it compared to not on it, BCAA's are the building blocks of protein and Glutamine much like Creatine, plus Multivitamins, wich to me every human being should take anyway, I buy pure powders with nothing added and press my own caps, it's the way forward as far as your pocket is concerned :)

I am with you there benzo, I buy my own powders and not much, cap my own stuff. I do a fair bit of living off of a seasonal plan with fruits and veg as well as game so not much more earth grown then wild caught ^-^ One thing I like to suggest to guys is to scope farmers markets, fish markets, and your local butcher make a friend and get in the loop for locally grown stuff ( i sound like a foody cause I am a chef ). And make friends with a hunter, game is a great source of protein and fairly low in fat.

Hey Neo... You've mentioned before you shoot your own... With you being ex-military it would be interesting to know what's your weaponry of choice..?

i see what your saying, and i used to buy and do all that stuff too, then i decided not to buy the protein powder and see how i looked, well the mirror doesn't lie.

so that swayed my decision. i have some, but its rare i drink it. same with supplements, its very minimal and not even a multi vitamin, thats covered in diet, and i don't like to use that as an excuse to slack on earth grown non mass produced food.

just saying, the only supplements worth spending money on is testosterone... the rest is just putting a hole in your pocket, better off eating right and concentrating on correct sleep and listening to your body. rest is so important, nutrition and bam all of a sudden your body is changing week by week.

Personally I like to eat a quality diet and take raw quality supps that actually do something for your body, my diet is covered in fruit and veg , but I still take multivits, I'm sure I'm getting plenty aminos from them lean beef steaks and chicken breasts, but I take the caps just to make sure, I almost double my protein intake with powder, I'm getting 40g Protetin per scoop with only 5g carbs, each to their own, but like u said my man , mirror doesn't lie %)

My go to rifle is a Winchester model 70 chambered in .338 win mag ( i have one chambered in .338 lapua great for a slightly longer shot with a flatter trajectory)
I have a beautiful Beretta 20ga over under shotgun that is my small game go to was my grandfathers. I tend to favor bolt action, a little slower on the repeat shot if you need one, but if you switch out the action from say the common Mauser to the shorter Remington you get a slightly smother and faster shot. If I was going to go to a semi-auto gun cant go wrong with an AR I was trained on that setup, and they are great civilian version weapons, easy to index a target, super accurate and if you step up to the AR-15 in the .308 you can take quite large game at solid distances. I will say that if you stick to .338mag you can hunt any thing N or S America.

If you are talking self defense I carry a Sig Sauer 1911 .45ACP ( I have a CCW permit) , great for take down power and unlike the 9mm cartridge there is no over penetration of the target in CQB situations. The lower speed out of the barrel equates to less penetration, not to mention the ballistics of the shell its self means a higher transfer of the kinetic force upon impact. So yeah .45 up close and personal. At range It is a crap shoot I would like to have an Ar system chambered in the 7.62 for stooping power but if you want some thing that will go bang and not click the AK is hard to beat especially when you know that that magazine is 30 rounds of rock and roll.

So those are my choices. Didn't know what you wanted me to narrow my answer to so I gave you hunting and a brief look at combat. Though if given the choice every soldier wants give Ma Dice a go ^-^

Why no proper carbs? Never had a problem with sugar. If i crave something i just make sure to fit it into my macro's.
Plenty of high carb days during my diet for lot's of cereals and other tasty treats.

Once i started tracking my foodintake and stopped obessing about clean eating, getting lean was easy. No more eating bland meals every two hours either.

And im pretty happy with 9% but it's never good enough haha. Once i hit 5% ill start reverse dieting and leangaining again. That way i can stay lean for a long time and still gain muscle and strength.
I can probably bulk for over a year before i hit 12-15% again, if i don't binge and screw up. (last time i only lasted a couple months. hunger is out of control when really lean, but cycling calories should make it easier)

One thing i do hate is super low libido on low bodyfat levels. I feel best when im around 15% but i don't like the look and when i get to lower single digits i look awesome but feel like crap.
One of the reasons im thinking about trying a cycle sometime. Anybody here put themselves on TRT? (like 250mg a week) Would you still need other drugs to counter side effects at this dosage? Would it be worth staying on?

Maybe in a couple years ill consider it, but don't have any idea how anyway lol

At 250 a week you should need any thing to control the sides if your diet is good and your active. If you jockey a desk and play video games ( have a few mates that subscribe to this plan) you can put the weight on easily. I blast and cruise have for a few years now and it is worth staying on. If you have the discipline to get to single digits body fat from 15%+ you should be kosher. Though run a few full cycles before going on a blast and cruise regimen so you really know what your getting into. That is if you haven't already ran a cycle or two prior to making this decision, and have some blood work done and keep getting it done periodically ( I go quarterly for blood work ) this way you can fine tune your blasts as you go along and can catch any real issues before they become serious headaches.

I am sitting at 8% as we speak at 225lbs ( I lost a full bloody 5lbs this week kinna sucks) and I my libido is super healthy, but I blast and cruise so I don't know if there is a direct corollary there for you. You may want to get your Testosterone levels check just for the low libido, though 250mg of test a week will bring your libido screaming back to life.

Even while dieting you can still get away with eating rice & potatoes, maybe only on the days that you train so you've got more energy.

With the sugar, have you heard of stevia? It's natural (derived from a plant) and even just half a teaspoon of the stuff is sweeter than sugar. I think it's only 2/10 of a calorie per teaspoon.

I can't advise you on gear, but dietwise I can.

When you're 10% and below, do you incorporate regular carb refeeds 2-3 times per week? Enough dietary fat everyday? Supplement with fish oil? (6-10 grams per day). How much training volume are you doing both weights and cardio wise?

Haven't done any cycle yet. It's kind of hard to get bloodwork done in Holland. I would have to pay for it myself at a private clinic.
The reason my libido is low when im lean is because it's way below my natural setpoint.

Im also worried that if i do decide to run a cycle that i won't bounce back and have even lower libido after. That's why staying on seems interesting. I can always try an actual cycle later. Tho i doubt you could hold on to gains above your natural limit on just 250mg test

@alvatore

I do incorporate regular carbrefeeds and i am getting 6 grams of fishoil everyday and fats from nuts, eggs, meat etc.
Im low fat on the days i refeed, but on restdays im high in fat and low on carbs.

Im not doing any cardio and doing low volume heavy lifting with an upper lower (PHUL) and once i get really lean i usually cut back a bit more and just lift heavy on a three day split.

I also gain weight super easy, so once im below my set point i can gain 40lb in a 2 week binge lol.

I just don't want to mess up my health if i do decide to put myself on TRT. From what i've read i should feel awesome and it wouldn't be too expensive either.
Though i wouldn't know the first thing on how to store the stuff and pin myself.

It will be a few years before i decide to do it anyway and i might never do it, but im curious to know about anybody here with experience.

I've done it for years.... Cruise-Blast...

Cruising and blasting tho comes with a price, I would need to always make sure I constantly had loads of bottles/amps stocked up and HCG, Letro, Nolva e.t.c.

But I'll defoe be 1 of those guys soon :)

Are all u cruise / blasters bald ? JW

Cruise lessens the need for ancillarys... Careful selection of compounds on blast combined with some tapering towards the end may negate the need for expensive anti-estros.. Masteron and Proviron are much underrated IMO...
Although it will depend on the size of the blast...

Not bald.... just old...!!

Hell no man After I got out of the service I let my hair grow out. Grew that shit out for 3 years, long and thick as fuck, then I donated the resulting 12 inch pony tail to Locks for Love. Though I currently ware my hair back to the buzz cut but thats because my girl likes the way my head feels 8o

It sounds like you have read or at least familiar with the work of Lyle McDonald/Martin Berkhan? It's good that you're aware of set-point, most people don't understand, and get really frustrated when they don't reach their goals. How many refeeds are you doing per week? Amount of carbs? Not sure if you posted it (I'm too lazy to look), but what is your height, weight and current bf%? Have you tried increasing the amount of carbs? Push it as high as you can and see how your body responds. You know what signs to look for if you overdid it on the carbs?

You might already know of all this, but here's a really good thread on refeeds: http://www.lylemcdonald.com/forums/showthread.php?t=638

You might pick up some little trinkets of info that you already didn't know.
