How can we get this place active again?

He's been on ignore from the beginning. I just stupidly clicked. "View post". Rubs me up the wrong way n way too arragont, "always right n perfect" for my liking. How dare he insinuate that I lied about being emotionally abused? He knows nothing of my relationship or what I've been through because of it. Or some of the stuff my ex tried to make me do either. I don't appreciate him speaking to me like that at all.

Evey

I didn't make any comment on whether you were emotionally abused though did I.

I said you have some funny ideas about what constitutes enotional abuse if you equate breaking up with someone due to a lack of sex with it, which you did.

Well done for trying to put words in my mouth though.

What's the point in putting someone on ignore and then looking at the posts anyway?

If both partners are ok with it then it's all good, but the notion that one partner threatening to end the relationship because they want sex and aren't getting it is emotional abuse is absolute bollocks.

Possible, usually when you phrase things in that way it means you are attributing one to the other though. Why would she have mentioned it otherwise?...and I'm sure she would have said by now if that was the case.

Can we stick to ways to get EADD more active rather than discussing Evey's sex life please? I rather suspect that it's this sort of thing which puts people off. It is EADD tradition to give nary a fuck about the thread and just use 'em all as Gibberings but would be nice to keep the ones which are intended to have a focus a bit more focussed. Also not really on to be discussing somebody when it seems quite clear that person does not wish to join in or continue the discussion.

Well I just had a 10 000 word essay typed up about my sex life but ok, back to discussing how to get this place sorted.

Not really sure what to suggest, though.

Interesting content...people will come and stay.

Boring content....people will come, see it's boring and leave.

I don't think there's much more to it than that really. As a whole we're culpable for the content of the forum and the creation of more interesting and discussion provoking threads is what's necessary. If this needs to be incentivised somehow then maybe that's the route that should be taken.

I should have done my dissertation on something that i was interested in too; drugs. ;)

I got 96% for my essay on drugs and society so that should have told me something. I ended up doing it on something that by the end of it i had tied myself up in knots and didnt have a fucking clue what i was on about, or even what the point was, and got about 40% for it, which dragged my whole average grade down to a desmond 2:2. I could possibly have sraped a first as the overall mark was heavily dependant on the final dissertation. I am now disbanded from applying for a number of jobs which i might have been able to get interviews for otherwise, and also unable to pursue further higher level study. Not sure if I'd want to anyway tbh, as i was sick of academic texts by the end of the course.

Sorry, this is off topic again, but at least its activity.

Maybe it's time to accept that, as far as EADD goes, it's just it's own forum separate from the rest of BL and we'll always be relatively small. People will come and go but I have a feeling it's the larger social/drug forums that are more likely to get attention and then if member in question happens to be a Euro with an interest in more than just the drug scene, then they turn up here.

Pointless forcing people like school assemblies eh.

Edit: Not that I'm saying we shouldn't create new content, I'm just saying that's how it increasingly seems to be but indeed with new stuff round it could be changed.

As I recall there's always been ups and downs - periods where EADD was busy and buzzing and times when it is just plain dead. Been mostly the latter for a while which is a shame but there have been lengthy periods where very little was going on before and things have perked up eventually. It really does depend on new members coming in to not replace but replace in terms of numbers those that stop posting for whatever reason. Would also think it's quite legitimate to consider ways to make the place more appealing and less of a closed talking shop for people who've been around for years though. That's how forums dessicate and die.

We don't want to end up even worse than Teh Lounge - from what I recall our posting figures compared to actual active members are already similar enough to be at least mildly concerned about becoming equally as irrelevant. If Teh Lounge is making an effort to be more welcoming I would hate to see EADD clinging to parochialism too much. We're parochial by nature cos it is a regional forum but if you look at who is lurking you'll frequently see people from all over reading. Why do they almost never wish to post? Do they just read for info or do they feel they wouldn't be able to break into a conversation anyway so don't even try? I have no idea but would be interesting to know *waves at lurkers - yes that was a hint*

I also post in SO & NEMD sometimes & they are pretty quiet, moreso than EADD but then again they have a narrower scope.

I often think many members from elsewhere don't know what the hell EADD even stands for.
