How can we get this place active again?

Yeah, The Lounge are making a stupidly good effort. I guess the problems between the two forums aren't as different as you'd think, given content and welcoming people and all. I'd be inclined to cut off notable gibberings from the Gibberings thread to draw more attention but at what point do we create more content and just make shit more confusing?

Me too.

I was actually going to point out yesterday how ironic is that this thread is up to 14 pages yet the rest of the forum is still quiet.

If you've got some worthy of discussion that isn't just about how your day is going, then make a new thread perhaps. I know it's tempting to just say what's on your mind regardless of what thread you are in... but I think they should be kept on topic largely speaking IMO.

yeah maybe if a more interesting than average topic starts bubbling up in gibberings it might be worth splitting it off into a thread of its own. Dunno how much of an effect such tinkering would really have though. I think that on the whole EADD is showing itself to be a welcoming community to all sorts of newcomers, and people that have been absent for years, which is something to feel positive about.

We need a new mephedrone or odt or something really, some really fantastic RC to get new members flooding in. Apparently the mephedrone era saw a huge explosion in internet based discussion (and many other explosions besides :sus:)

So, basically, talk about shit, keep new and interesting topics to their own threads so they don't get lost in gibberage. I do believe we should keep on topic to an extent. Don't mind the odd derail but, having read crackhead's response and a few of the others, it just seems like we need to do this rather than bang on about it for 14 pages and leave this thread for genuine questions/comments/ideas.

Edit: New RCs would help =D

Does no-one else feel that you're all over thinking this?

How can we get this place more active? - Stop fucking talking about how we can get it more active for a start.

Ffs its a thread about making it more active. If you dont like it. Dont comment instead of belittling efforts that others are making an effort.

Right well seems as my suggestions as full of shit and just "banging on for pages on end" I won't bother in future. Getting about enough of putting in just to have it ripped to shreds.

Yea let's just forget it eh. Some ppl don't seem bothered about the forum much now anyone. And come back saying those of us have just wasted our time. thanks appreciate that!

They're not, we're just kicking ideas back and forth. There's no need to get pissed off over it, but the forum has a certain thing about it that will make certain things work and certain things less likely to. Everyone is welcome to their own ideas and to express them but we do need a collective decision or at least input. Some ideas work, some get kicked to the wayside or put back in the EADD locker for later use.

As a woman only 26 years of age I definitely know all and refuse to defer to my colleagues/peers. I am deferring to EADD at large because the entirety of that last sentence I just wrote is a massive lie and I believe you should all have a say. It just seems trying to persuade people won't work so well in a forum like EADD.

None of us know best but we can work off each other, that's why we ask, but it gets to a point where it just goes off topic and then there's not a lot we can do bar crack down massively. As it is I would prefer to use this thread plainly for suggestions to make EADD work better. I am not single handedly asking for a unanimous decision, but for at least a vague consensus from the majority. EADD has been like this for years, people coming and going, it's just that we've had a particularly bad year or two. Things will change but it takes a while. Any suggestions will still be taken seriously as per the thread title, but people are going to disagree. The great thing about that is you can argue your case and maybe swing some people around to your point of view.

In my honest opinion I don't see myself as anything more than the average poster other than I have to UA stuff and infract/warn people sometimes. It also means I can, and we as a team can, give people the option to have their views heard and then debated and acted or not acted on. Just because we don't put an idea into action does not mean it's a shit idea, at all.

Edit: And Evey, you know very well when I refer to 'banging on' I don't mean you, I mean all of us. What have we achieved in this thread yet? That was not strictly aimed at you and I'd hope you'd realise that, coming from myself.

What Snollz said. Aside from the being a 26yo woman bit. I'm not one of those but agree with the rest - with the possible exception of the decision part. I'm not sure it's an issue that needs folk to decide a particular course of action. I'm seeing this thread more as a discussion where ideas may come up that could be put into practice or at least discussed further. It's not something that is a life and death matter - EADD will bumble along whatever - but if there are ideas that crop up that people seize on that's great. If not at least we have another thread that's proven quite popular even if we have only had one or two "new" posters giving any input so far.

I think it is mostly a cyclical thing and largely dependent on outside influences - the fact that drugs are relatively scarce, dull and poor quality compared with a few years back would be a major factor surely. That will change as it always does. It's a slow ol' time in drugworld in general I think.
