Ha, Ive been 'told off' for saying things like that when things are relatively calm and peacefull, as apparently shortly after i do, all hell breaks loose, things arent as allways as relatively calm as they are atm. Some people seem to enjoy a slagging match, many dont.

The weather may have something to do with the activity levels of the forum. As its a beatiful day here again today its not the best use of time to spend it indoors on the internet.
 
Until you have a member of the forum murdering an immigrant student and hiding them in their airing cupboard and numerous members of the board turning up to the trial at the Old Bailey you can't be considered a nasty forum.=D
 
Post of the day wouldn't be very practical cos there'd be no time to organise a poll or whatever to pick a winner. Competition of some form is doable and if anybody has any ideas for things that could work in competitive format spill 'em please. Realistically you need at least a few days to make any voting mean much of anything - gotta give people a chance otherwise it just ends up with a handful of people voting for themselves or each other each time probably.

Pix of the week is too much Second Opinion territory - they've had a pic of the week competition for years and wouldn't be right to swipe the idea quite so completely. The concern I have with a weekly competition is that we don't have enough people posting to make it meaningful. I know the whole point is to try to perk the place up a bit and ideally tempt in some fresh blood but I have a sneaky that if we instigated a weekly competition it would just end up with a handful of people winning every time cos there are only really a handful of people posting in the grand scheme anyway. That could easily just end up making the place seem even more cliquey.

Competition isn't a bad idea but I think it needs to be on a far bigger scale to make it worthwhile. Something that takes some level of effort to have a chance at and runs over a period of time to give people who don't post in or read EADD regularly a chance to see it and hopefully want to take part. Also probably needs some type of "prize" other than a poll saying somebody won. Custom titles have been awarded for similar things in other forums so there is history of those being used as prizes and people really do want to get one usually. Winner keeps the title for a set period and the rest of BL frequently ask why that person has a custom title which raises the profile of EADD every time it's answered. Everybody happy. Would mean thinking of something relevant to actually compete at and nothing has so far leapt to my mind (aside from the Erotic Writing/pile of jizzy tissues idea which I do rather like myself - SLR may get jealous though ;)). Needs to be something a bit bigger in scope than best post or best anything we do anyway though I'd say. Needs to be something related to EADD but not something you could win accidentally.
