Strawberry Lovemuffin

Well there is some good live acts to see there that are more band like...... ie morph, salmonella dub, still thinking etc. however even these bands still have a part electronic feel.

The fact is you can't escape the electronic music at ec...... even at the campsite people don't stop playing their own electronic music *shakes fist at last years non stop hard trance boot rave*

But yeh personally i found ec a really fun place, even when i was straight, vibe was a cross between an offshore and a normal doof/rave event. If you can handle the electronic music you'd have a fun, chilling at the river and meeting people. But yeh it all gets pretty messy by sunday ;)

peace :p

Don't laugh at me folks but would this be a good festival for someone who isn't particularly into dance music (but likes TISM) to just go and hang out with friends who are into dance music?

Would it be okay just as a camping sort of weekend, are there other things to do/occupy myself with (apart from the obvious, taking drugs?) ;)

Or would I be totally and completely out of my element, swamped by candyravers and beaten to death with fire twirling sticks?

Just considering it is all :)

Haha i'm sure there'll be heaps for you to do!! I havent been to earthcore but judgng from other events i've been to it will very muchh a camping style weekend with friends ad randoms etc.

It's ok i'll lend you some of my Khandi* and give you a go on my firestick and noone will ever know you're not into the music ;)

Aren't i being nice eve though you closed my thread for no reason!! ;)

*note i don't actually own any khandi.

SLM i had more fun not on the dance floor at last years EC (sept for posfords dj se at teh very end (not to be mist trust me you will like that set very very much ;) ))

there will be a load of bands playing as well
mainly on the funk and dub side (check out salmanela dub and pitch black)

there are also loads of other activitys happening over teh friday to sunday

it is well wortth it
specialy fucking with teh candy raver heads
hehehe

Heh, thanks guys, that's what I suspected :) And yeah I can tolerate the music and the khandi... I've hung out with enough bluelighters to become desenstized ;) I'm used to being the novelty odd one out. Maybe I'll just bring some KISS Cd's *ponders the evilness*

My mum lives in Shepparton too ... heh! Hi mum!

ps. ozbreaker... I'm sorry dude, but hey it was either me or anna! going to close that thread, and at least I did it with style, right? =D

Yeah, a few clashes indeed.

Dammit.
Why couldn't Heckmann be playing a longer bloody set >x(
1 FUCKING HOUR! 1 FUCKING HOUR IN 2 YEARS :X

Greetings

Last week we announced the incredible lineup.......... So what about the rest of the festival many have asked ?Our 32 page guide hits the streets tomorrow but in the meantime here's the lowdown on what else is on offer
throughout the 3 days.........

earthcore global carnival
26 - 28 november
goulburn river - victoria - australia

Our 11th year..........

Once more we return to the Goulburn River for 3 days of chakra realigning chaos. Shake out the cobwebs and rescramble your brain in readiness for the long hot summer ahead. This year we have expanded our lineup significantly to celebrate the incredible range of live acts on offer. Mostly appearing under the Big Top these acts span hip hop, breaks, dub, trance/jazz and more to give you a break from the jolly good pounding you will receive elsewhere on the site on the other 5 stages.

The market area sprawls across the site, linking the other areas with endless opportunities for tasty treats, refreshing juices, caffeine fixes, or a complete outfit change. This year will also feature a hairdresser and makeup artists, so there's no excuse for looking shabby on Saturday night (apart from going too hard on Friday night). The market will also include shaded chillout areas where you can enjoy your latest purchase, or just take a break from the constant activity elsewhere. Pass through the workshop area and head for the River to cool down and revitalize.

Gates open 9 am Friday 26 November...........

Sunny (the return of Steve and gang)
Melbourne's infamous underground club returns to Earthcore for a 6th time. Deep tribal house, dirty sticky electro, demented beats and Steve's infamous cousins messing around. What more could you want ?

Beats Working
Formed out of a desperate bid to play their records to their friends, the Beats Working collective has quietly grown into something of a cornerstone in the Melbourne breaks scene. Never satisfied with boundaries of genre, dress or attitude they have worked hard to give their growing “family” a place each month where they can be themselves. Comprised of breakbeat enthusiasts, not purists, their tastes in music are as wide as their love for the broken beat.

Meccanoid
Meccanoid began in March 2002 as the brainchild of James Quirk and Emma Glitch. The idea was to establish a monthly night dedicated to the electro sound,. By early 2003 Meccanoid had taken off having its own theme, stunning decor and a venue full of costumed personalities. Meccanoid now resides at the Public Office where it continues to showcase the very best of electro in its broadest forms in a unique party environment....

Animation / VJs

Earthcore has highlighted specific VJ's over the years but this time we are doing things a little differently. In an effort to prevent VJ retina burnout, and to provide a greater range of visual feasts for all of you punters, we've unleashed as many VJ's as we could fit on the bill (or those that took us out for enough lunches anyway...). These include:

Olaf
As well as VJ'ing at Melbourne's major events, Olaf has created many interactive video installations (eg the laser harp) for the Next Wave Festival, Mind A Maze, Rock 'n Roll Circus and others, utilising his physically interactive multimedia systems to extend the body's movement as an interface to sound and video. As well as self funded, Olaf's projects have received support from private, State Government and Federal Government bodies including Film Victoria, City of Melbourne, FTO, AFC, Australia Council for the Arts. Olaf utilises software he has helped design that emulates other mixers and effects generators, enabling an almost unlimited variety of visual treats.

Team Optrix
Featuring Ben Skewes (NZ) and dadfhgaligh(Japan). Fresh back from Tokyo`s Vision Quest 2004, Team Optrix are set to transform the big screen into a psychedelic masterpiece. Their visual synthesizer guarentees beat syncronised colour and quality. "We maintain a high-tech approach, pushing as much vibrance as the projectors will tolerate. Combining optical vibrance with true colour equals full-on hallucinations," Ben Skewes, Team Optrix founder.

Devoloid Media - The Devolution of Celluloid Media
Regressing the complex digital form of modern visuals into something much deeper and exciting. With an intelligent blend of crisp digital, real life and stop frame imagery mixed liver than live. With two visualists creating up to 4 layers of imagery as well as syncopation, the Devoloid visuals style has to be seen to be believed.

Zihni TV
Zihni Chirali, ZTV. Screening a collage of the previous E/C festivals shot on Super8 & Digital Video mixed with the present/live footage.

Eskatonia Visuals (Sydney)
Eskatonia was founded by Roger Bolton, a visual effects artist who has worked on dozens of commercials and music videos over the last five years. Inspiration to bring together his graphic work and the psytrance scene lead to the founding of Eskatonia Visuals in 2002.wanted to bring a more flowing organic style to the screen than he had seen before. Joined by regular contributor Miriam they mix, edit, sample and shoot from a diverse array of sources to bring a continuous visage to the screen encompassing simultaneous journeys through evolution of life, consciousness and the flow of the dancefloor.

Rob Ride
As a trained 3d Animator with two short films under his belt, Rob Ride approaches VJing from a new perspective. Using only his own 3D work, Rob pushes a completely digital aesthetic. With his custom built live visual machine, no two sets are ever the same.

Schmooze Cinema
What can we say - an earthcore stalwart (with the emphasis on the wart) specialising in his own highly refined, cut up style of presentation. Hyperbole, justaposition, mindless chaos - you decide. A combination of late night telly, out of date cliched cartoons, and too many crash scenes. Also presenting the late night features through to dawn on Friday night.

For those competitive types out there this year we have added a couple of opportunities for you to win fabulous trophies made from plastic or other worthless materials and the envy of all of your mates:

1. The Boat Race - entry is open to teams of greater than 2 members. The rules are simple:
* your boat/watercraft must have been made by you and your team
* must be human powered (no engines, no flotilla of trained guinea pigs on leashes)
* cheating will be frowned upon, but if it means you win well.......

2. Best campsite - the campsites have been a major feature of our gigs over the years (eg. the crew who relocated their entire loungeroom into a hire truck). This year we will be having a few roving camera people come around to record the most outstanding efforts. These will then be shown on the big screens in the Circus tent on Saturday evening, and the winners announced.

3. Beach Volley Ball - For those of you with the Olympic spirit still inside them, head down towards the river for our 1st annual Beach Volley Ball comp. Teams need to be no more than 4 players in total. To sign up please visit the info tent at the event bf 3 pm Saturday to register. Action starts at 4 pm.

For those not interested in the intensity of peer rivalry well just remember in the words of that immortal song...."Everyone's a winner babe."

Boat race entries with details of your team and craft need to be sent through to
[email protected] or pip c/- PO Box 1318 Collingwood 3066.

Remember the river is shallow, full of snags and hungry cod, so bear this in mind when designing your craft...........

Safety Information

The usual rules apply and they are mostly common sense, designed to help you and your mates have a great time, and live to tell the tale. Ignore them at your own peril, as stupid behaviour gets its just desserts.
* No Pets
* No BYO - save us the hassle of confiscating and drinking it ourselves. Confiscated alcohol will not be returned. There is a shire wide ban on drinking in public places for the entire weekend. You can be fined $200 for drinking alcohol outside of the licensed area.
* No No Fires - we had 2 fires last year, thanks to 2 idiots. This includes fireworks, firesticks etc etc. Don't put yourselves and others in danger.
* No Illicit Substances
* No camping between the levee bank and the river.
* No jumping or diving into the river - submerged logs and other hazards are lurking just beneath the surface.

We also advise:
* Don't camp under overhanging branches
* Bag your own rubbish and drop it in the nearest bin. Messy camps do not attract quality lays. Remind your neighbours if necessary.
* Butts in the bin or in your portable ashtray.
* Driving like you want to arrive home - a designated driver, rest stops and associated good driving practice will ensure that you do. Have a break before driving home.
* Look after your mates - and any one else obviously not having a good time. First Aid and Ravesafe are there for your benefit. Do not hesitate to visit them if you need to.
* Big and Hairy Security in the area will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour or fluro leg warmers. Both are unfashionable and will not win you any friends.
* Everyone is here to enjoy themselves, and a bit of respect goes a long way.

Final release discount tix $120 (ALL INCLUSIVE NO BOOKING FEE - SAVE $10 OFF THE PRESALE PRICE) via http://www.earthcore.com.au

You did and it set me scrambling for my phone to sms the other named party for confirmation!!! =D

but you see - I *expect* anna! to close threads for little reason not you.. and had you not done it in the style you had you'd so be facing my wrath - but as it happens i'm male and very very weak about things like that ;) respect to you and i'll say no more about it!!! :)

so fucking excited even though ive never been to an ec before, it just sounds like such freakn' madness!!! i think i'm probably looking to catching Hallucinogen the most (amongst others of course) and having a dance. wOOt!

hmm, only thing im hoping is that it's not 40 degrees like my friend said it was last year, that could be not so much fun. *fingers crossed* guys ay!

the hills are alive with the pound of music

=D =D =D

39.5 max
:p

the river it totaly lush to chillout in
just make sure you get a place under teh trees to camp and not out in the middle of the padic you you will bake
we had a great spot last year under the trees but was a 3 min walk to the river from our site
heading down wednesday night thursday morning this year to make sure we get a spot in teh trees closer to t4he river

*hard trance boot rave* - that totally cracks me up....but so true, so true, couldn't sleep if I had wanted.
Again there are clashes and I am sad. I'm going to have to pick between disco pussy and GMS, and I think Im going to have to go GMS bc they dont like play much. Maybe I can not get lost between the stages this year and run between??
And there is nothing wrong with khandii :p (in moderation)

Whoot! Can't wait! This one should be great fun! Ahhh... Hopefully the weather will be fine so we can all go swimming again! YAY!!!
