RIP

I looked up cooking Indian food from scratch during the covid lockdown, watched a few you tube vids etc.

Many of those channels suggested that in order to cook indian dishes completely from scratch it was pretty much a whole days work to create the base or masala, and then a second whole day to create the actual dish!

As much as I love Indian food, no way can I justify that.

Although there is a large selection of so called "Indian curry" pastes and sauces in the UK supermarkets, every one of them that I have tried has been utter crap. No authentic taste at all.

Fortunately there are abundant Indian restarants and takeaways where I live, some of them really good, with proper authentic tasting dishes.

yeah fook that, I buy the same brand garam masala as the Indian guys I shared work digs with previously. Pretty sure all the indian restos round here use it too

This took 45 mins beginning to eating and simple ingredients
2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 teaspoons salt
ยฝ cup cooking oil
1 ยฝ cups chopped onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 ยฝ teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon lime juice

Had all the ingredients except canned tomato and garam masale which I bought.

The family is getting bigger here all the time so there's often 3-5 others eating with me. That ingredient quantity will do four decent servings or five smaller ones so one could adjust accordingly

Still, it would be nice to be able to teleport to exotic place like Goa or to Bradford to eat and then back out again

Nah, mate nonsense. Get some whole spices, toast in big pan and put lid on until they change colour and seeds start to pop then grind finely in a mill or mortar and pestle.

Teaspoon of that will transform your curry. Takes about twenty mins tops.

Curry chat - I use the Curry Legend spice mixes, their Butter Chicken recipe is very good, some of the others are a bit hit and miss.

I used to make curry bases for the freezer, but if you truly want to make it like the curry houses be prepared to add a lot of salt, butter and MSG.

It takes about 40 minutes to make chana masala

Try this recipe https://jessicainthekitchen.com/coconut-chickpea-curry-recipe/
The only thing not authentic would be the garam masale to make that yourself is quite easy if you have the ingredients

Authentic Indian cooks use a stick of cinnaman, cardamon pod and let that cook for a while then add the rest of the usual spices. It has to be the special Indian cinnamon though.

Youโ€™ve been over there too long! It needs to be in grammes!

Eugh that sounds like you were v lucky there you didn't awaken to a ripped nutsack and puppy running away with his newly found ball @Jackal ๐Ÿคฃ

This storm here is ridiculous. Could hardly sleep with the wind at first. Then the dogs been up and down, back and fore. Just had to let her out then she went mad barking at the wind. A traumatic nights sleep ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Shared this in the Abyss in The Lounge, but figured it was worth a share here for a disaster evening...

Still ill as fuck here.

Managed an arms workout last night, thought I was better. Well... LOL 30mins later I'm spewing bile absolutely everywhere again. Felt like I had a brick in my stomach. Couldn't shit.... but wait for it gets better still... so I'm up and down all night for the hot water bottle and glasses of water trying to flush myself out.

Now the poor dog still being on her period must have sensed something was wrong. Jumped up on the bed with me. Felt for her so let her snuggle in. No harm in it I thought. WELL BAD IDEA ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Woke up and I'd knocked 2 glasses of water off the bedside table all over my weed lol. Then I see she has escaped her Nappy.
Now for the clincher. There is Blood ALL OVER one side of my bed ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Was so fucked with stomach pain couldn't even move to change the sheets. So i wound up sleeping on top of the blanket.

Here is the culprit

And here's a picture of the damage ๐Ÿคฎ

Nice and dry now. Crusty. If anyone wants a sample feel free to PM me and I'll send the sheets for an epic sale price of 9.99, grab yourselves a bargain while deals last folks!!! ๐Ÿ˜†

try craigslist, bra. you'll get interest for sure.

HOW FUCKING COLD IS IT??? especially when your scared to put you heating on.

scraped my pipe and got a nice little tickle tho. the stuff was black. metal pipes suck compared to glass imho. i like the yank style straight glass tube rather than a hash pipe/cig ash but each to their own.

has anyone noticed an influx of cheap as fuck (ยฃ5 for 20 Lamberts and other brands) for sale under the counter in certain dodgy corner shops these days. There's also Turner 30g for 10 or some horrible unsmokeable form of Amber Leaf going about for ยฃ5 an oz. Turner is pretty roough, but it's like smoking an angel's whisper compared to the Amber Queef.
So what gives? All is professional looking in the packaging dept, but the cigs/baccy are clearly different. Except the Turner, that's the same as it's always been.
The snidey L and B in particular are actually really decent, and at nearly a quarter f te price, I'm just hoping I'm not smoking rat hairs, coconut husks and old car tyres (all known carcinogens).
If I had the choice between legit Mayfair or Johnny P's, I'd smoke these Lambert's. SO FUCKING TELL ME ALREADY.
Think I'll enjoy one now...

One of the craziest videos I've seen in a while. All seems strangely plausible too.

Have you ever watched the film Threads? You might enjoy it.

Retrospective reviews have been very positive. On Metacritic, the film has a score of 92 based on 5 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim",[33] whilst it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% based on 10 reviews (with an average score of 8.90/10). The critical consensus reads: "An urgent warning against nuclear conflict, Threads is a chilling hypothetical that achieves visceral horror with its matter-of-fact presentation of an apocalypse".
