I saw on the news today that The Who are gonna perform Tommy rock opera again but I don't know if it's the same when the band are collecting pensions.
I can understand folk wanting to see a band they like but surely its a bit sad when they aren't the angry young men anymore.

It's actually Quadrophenia they're doing (well in Ireland at least) ...

Again, film > semi-dead band. Quadraphenia and Tommy are belting films the pair of 'em and the albums too. No need to go ruining the memory of 'em. These reformations are rarely more than a bit embarrassing really. Is a shame cos you'd think that age and experience would make for an interesting new take on old material... doesn't though most of the time. I'm sure there must be exceptions. I kinda doubt The Who will be amongst 'em though.

Didn't Mr Townsend once have a great line about dying before getting old? Not saying it should be literal but a lil decorum, fellas

Would rather see new material than trying to recreate their lost yoof if anything.

I envy the young today. Nothing better than being an enthusiast teenager full of life and energy and seeing your favourite band for the first time and going absolutely nuts.
I used to love going to the big rock gigs, Guns n Roses live were so energetic that the whole crowd just fed off their energy. Never forget that gig.

By "energetic" I'm assuming you mean drunk beyond belief and composed approximately 50:50 by weight of cocaine:heroin? I'd be energetic too :D

Is summat a bit special about being all young and up for it and being utterly besotted and obsessed with stuff one minute then hating it the next. Must admit I quite like being just a tad bit more stable in me dotage but the enthusiasm of yoofdom was pretty sweet even though it rarely seemed that way at the time.

Reading my sons posts on Facebook remind me of how I was exactly the same at 19,I used to be so into music and would buy any music they released and sit and pore over the lyrics.
Getting pissed with mates all the time and its just not the same when u get older.
When you're young you are so close with yr mates and always out for a laugh and a good time and then life and work starts and slowly the daily drudgery of life wears you down.
I'd love to go back and be an angry young man again rebellious against the world and just enjoying life without a care in the world.
If only teenagers knew what life is like they wouldn't be in such a hurry to grow up and they would relish the times they have while young.

it's fairly obvious to me now that farmaz is a 'PM Warrior' ...
ie: acting like a gangster wannabe in public, then giving it the 'I luff you, pwease be my fweind' shtick in PMs, but then continuing to be an imbecile when posting. Eh, everyone needs to be liked and to feel part of the crew to some degree, but there are quicker and more genuine ways of going about it than that.

Brutal! Some quality half-arsed attempts at fighting his way out of complete sedation there. Benzos really do add a whole new dimension to messing with blacked-out friends, booze doesn't come close most of the time- even if they wake up they can't be arsed to do anything about it but I've seen a pissed bloke go from comatose and being drawn on to upright and swinging his fists around surprisingly quickly.

Same man. When they started talking about getting pens out etc I told them to get to fuck & that I was playing no part in it. Purely because it annoys the fuck out of me if someone does it to me so I'd be a dick to do it to someone else. That was genuinely funny though & he was fine once the tape was removed, no walking home with a Hitler tache etc.
