Far be it for me to get involved in interpersonal bullshit... but could we maybe manage one Gibberings thread without it turning into a Farmaz hatefest? In any sense of the word. I get it. We get it. Can we please get over it? :\

Yes Farmaz posts some pretty disagreeable stuff. But he also gets slapped down for it and has mostly been on comparatively good behaviour since the last tempban (imo and all that). I'm sure he can be whipped into shape and get the hang of playing nice even if it grates a lil sometimes. Such is life on moderated forums with a more important overarching purpose than the purely social chitchat side. But do we really need page after page of abuse being hurled at quite such regular intervals? Really is getting kinda dull. Especially with the "all pile on" attitude that seems a bit much to me. PMs, report button, ignore. Simple.
 
Too many add fuel to the fire, but at the same time I'm doing it myself with this post. Shambles you've summed it up well with you're last 5 words. I've no real interest in getting as involved as many here seem to do, I don't know I just see it as a forum/the Internet at the end of the day?I've been banned from forums over arguments long, long time ago, now I just don't see a point no point getting what to me seems like so worked up over such nonsense. And if someone really does offend me there's always the ignore button. Don't take it personally if you don't even know their name.

Well, they do live here lol. They have two different monthly residencies, Pressure (The Arches) & Return To Mono (Sub Club) so they play at least twice a month, every month. They also get booked to play other nights here quite a lot, they headlined a different night (Subculture) at Sub Club on Saturday.
 
I agree with the principle of what you're saying, Shambles.

In this case, however, somebody clearly intends to behave in a way that disrupts the community and (more importantly) the forum as a Harm Reduction resource.

I've been guilty of the same in the past. The difference is that I wised up. I didn't even need a single infraction. I made a lot of drunken regrettable posts and decisions as a mod. I changed my style. After a rocky period.

You can give people chances, but if they persist...
 
^ I kindasorta agree with that. But just don't see why there needs to be so much of it in seemingly every thread I open. Is dull as shit. If Farmaz is crossing a line then he'll get infracted - not like he's not on a short leash as it is given previous tempbans. I really don't see how all the added drama helps anything though. My opinion and all that... Said me lil piece so have at it as y'all please.

Ignore things and they really do go away (as long as you don't peek :D).

Also, it just never sits well with me when one person is getting grief from many. Even if it's deserved. I really can't see how it can do anything other than back somebody into a corner thus setting up the next round. There are better ways of dealing with things. Imo, ime, etc, etc.

Plus, Gibberings is for gibbering. More gibber, less *yawn* puh-leese, folks :)

(having said that i have no gibber worth gibbering at the moment so will get back to booze and freaky zombiedrug docs for a while)

It isn't nice to see one person getting grief from everyone, is it? Nor is it good to see somebody giving lots of people grief.

I've been in both positions of recent times. Yet I maintain that Farmaz has continually indulged in some kind of low-budget, sub-Machiavellian nonsense since he began. All based around his own screaming insecurities and inadequacies.

How many people have received similar PMs? Double figures, yeah?

I could parrot a Latin phrase now but I'll leave it to the (laughable) pseuds. ;)
 
I missed most of the drama involving yer good self, Mr Myshkin. Would say the same thing there too. Two wrongs and all that...

Just seems to me that there are better and more appropriate ways of dealing with people than having half the threads on the forum filled up with bickering is all. But is not my call - just an observation from someone bored to fukkin death having to shlepp through it all to find the worthwhile posts inbetween. It's just plain dull and somewhat ugly on all sides.

And now I'm adding to it so will keep schtum until it all goes away one way or t'other.
 
You're right Shambles - it's boring and exhausting.

The point is that Farmaz seems keen to perpetuate such bollocks. Other people are merely venting their discontent.

I know you like to see the good in people; so do I. There are certain lines that really must be drawn, though, and I think Mr. Farmaz and his atttention-whoring-at-any-cost is the most boring tripe I have ever read on any internet forum, including those about things I really don't care for. So it needs to stop. Now.

And I really mean the italics. Really. Emphatically.
 
How to deal with attention-seeking? Fill half the forum with endless drama surrounding it on a daily basis. I almost see the logic there. Almost ;)

I'm sure we can agree to (partially) differ and find better gibberings to gibber 'bout though <3
 
It is boring and it isn't nice to see anyone being slagged off continuously.
I didn't agree with it when people were doing it to Sam and I don't agree with it being done to Farmaz.
If people know they don't like what a person posts then just put them on ignore rather than continually allowing themselves to be pissed off by that persons posts.
 
I get what you're saying, Shambles. I've gone down the official route so we'll see what happens.

In the meantime, all I'm doing is expressing the pent-up frustration of my own and quite probably that of quite a few others, if the mood of the thread is any barometer.

Somebody has to say it, and it used to (usually) be me.

Though I agree entirely - let's TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE, FOR FUCK'S SAKE! :)
 
Has been lashing down and howling a gale all day here. But is kinda warm now you mention it. Hard to find a decent setting for the heating. Buggered if it's being turned off though. Not whilst they're threatening to cut it off anyway. May as well get me (lack of) money's worth :D

Can't go wrong with a lil light weather chitchat ;)
 
Same here, window open which is good because it means the smoke alarm outside my bedroom won't go off every time I open my bedroom door.
I need to find a new drug to do as its boring being straight.
 
I always resent the heating on/window open scenario. Can see the logic though. Has been bloody nippy since I've had extractor fans fitted in kitchen and bathroom, mind. I know they're not quite bloody great holes in the wall but may as well be some nights :!
 
I saw on the news today that The Who are gonna perform Tommy rock opera again but I don't know if it's the same when the band are collecting pensions.
I can understand folk wanting to see a band they like but surely its a bit sad when they aren't the angry young men anymore.
