GBL Megathread 4: End of an Era?

I read somewhere that red wine is not bad for withdrawing if you don't have access to anything else. A hard cardio work out before you attempt sleep is always a good move too. I found the withdrawals to last no more than 4 days, with the last two just being mild anxiety and very vivid wakeing dreams, the kind where you can't actually tell if they were real or not :!

Not that you should start drinking at work or anything 8)

I don't know where you heard that about red wine, but it's wrong. Also, a hard cardio workout is likely to push your blood pressure up enough to cause a serious problem, so that's terrible advice. Your blood pressure during a G withdrawal with no medication is already through the roof. I really wouldn't go around recommending this to people.

I don't have any benzo's I was hoping to get some this week but the person I know has been struggling to get a hold of his contact. I can tell my blood pressure is through the roof my heart beats so hard.

I'm planning on taking Carsick's advice as he swears by it and has first hand experience. I'm hoping this won't be too difficult -- I'm hoping to get over the worst of it by the end of the weekend ready for work. I've managed to get like this in 2-3 weeks of 24/7 use -- The onset of addiction is surprisingly fast. I can see how this could quickly lead to tears.

Cheers for the support.

You're already through the worst, trust me. The first 12 hours are fucking hell, but they don't get worse. Your appetite should be at zero now, but force something like soup down later. You might get a few hours of sleep tonight, out of sheer exhaustion. Drink a bottle of vodka or take some codeine. That will take the edge off slightly. I feel for you. I've done it too many times to mention. The thought makes me feel ill. By Monday, you'll be sorted. Good luck. If you need any advice, then PM me.

Cheers dude. I've been reading your posts throughout this thread and your advice is invaluable. If more drug users would use this forum we'd have a much healthier drug community.

I like to think that I can help others with the mistakes I have made. I'm shocked you're using a PC, to be fair. You'll be over this in no time.

I've taken some GBL. I'm a dickhead. I took it to sleep and ended up fucking about on the PC. I've just had the fortune of finding Billy Bragg -- I've strangely never heard his music before.

You will prolong the withdrawal by taking more. If you can stick to a couple of mls once a day, then you should get an hour or so of relief, but it will probably just drag it out. I wouldn't know, I've never stopped before the bottle is empty.

I believe I have had every symptom of opiate withdrawal from G, if that counts. I've climbed the walls trainspotting-esque. It is of the opinion of some Bluelighters that G withdrawal is worse than opiate withdrawal, if the person has gone through it repeatedly, or used for long enough.

Shambles may have from what I've read.

I really don't know what I'm talking about, so feel free to correct me/call me an idiot, but the impression I have is that GHB/GBL withdrawald is a similar intensity to opiates but opiate withdrawals will last longer. But like I said, that's just what I think, and I haven't really read a great deal to back it up.

Take it easy DS_, you might want to consider taking monday and tuesday off and nipping it in the bud this weekend. I don't know if tapering or cold turkey is better, maybe someone else will.

He has indeed. But he may be atypical in his response. I'd compare it to coming off a £10 bag o' scag a day at worst. Not even that really. By far the easiest, least uncomfortable and least headfucking withdrawal I've ever had. I can only presume that those that really struggle with it are affected very differently to me. If not then they really need to stay away from drugs with "real" (for me) w/d cos GBL w/d are a sunny stroll in the park by comparison.

Bah, do it fifty times and then come back and say the same, you smarmy cunt. ;)

first night off gbl for a while had no sleep, got up today feeling extremely tensed up and anxious, will try and stay the day off it.

ive only been using this bottle for like 6 days but its been almost 24/7, and the fact ive withdrawn from benzos and gbl before seem to make it come back quicker.

Okay, I'm sure this isnt the best advice but it is something that I would personally do.

Is it not possible to cut right down rather than go cold turkey. Just taper it down over a few days or is it too much temptation??

Lower your doses and space them out further and further between?? I find that helps with other things. I've not yet gotten withdrawls from my g yet so I cannot say for certain if it would work with this or for you personally. Its just an idea.

perhaps yeah might be worth a shot, i seem to be feeling worse than i did earlier.

I can handle it though, only thing that gets to me is not sleeping.

You have to go through the insonmnia stage one way or another - a dose at bedtime might work for a couple of hours at best - then you're awake again. there's nothing to be afraid of whatsoever stopping G after 6 days use. As with most drugs there's likely significant psychological component to your usage.
