GBL Megathread 4: End of an Era?

just wondering if anyone on withdrawal has felt like there is a lump in your throat sort of feeling and difficulty swallowing?

^ That's caused by anxiety/panic - see your GP perhaps

probably rebound anxiety from the G then.

Just did a low dose of gbl :(, much lower than usual though just seeing if it will releive symptoms for a few hours.

Also, is acidosis possible from short term use? or has that only occured in people over long term periods?

^ I can't recall - it'd likely be through chronic usage tho - there's a huge amount of information on the subject, look for posts by MTGG who wrote quite a lot on the topic & he is always worth a read anyway. :)

I had another panic attack while trying to make my tea yesterday. I was shaking so bad that I was having a hard time cooking beans on toast so in the end I panicked, stuffed the bread in my pocket and just ate the beans. Withdrawing with parents about is no good at all.

so ive been on the gbl again since this morning, didnt like the feeling on the dopamine rebound so havent stopped :(, heart goes crazy when it wears off.

The heart racing won't last too long if you stop now but if you continue the withdrawal symptoms will worsen. Get out early.

EDIT: Quite enjoying being sober. Never thought I'd say that.

I don't know... As has been mentioned with opiate withdrawals, every one is worse. If I took G for six days and stopped with nothing for relief, I reckon I'd be seriously ill or hospitalised.

I think you should try it, I'd like to see how much you'd piss and moan coming off smack ;)

I completely know what you mean about the parents. Makes me feel guilty and edgy if they're about after/while i've been doing drugs! Had a bad one on friday where the mother spotted 2g of mephedrone on a CD in my room, then i timed it badly and arrived home still cunted after a mad night out while they were eating breakfast 8) :|

Sorry but that is hilarious just the image of you panicking at the toaster shoving the bread in the pocket and running off!!! :D

My husband had slight acidosis from regular low doses of gbl, less than 5ml a day during the week but more at weekends. Confirmed by a blood test, but the doc didn't seem too worried so it must've been very mild case.

I have a salicylate (salicylic acid) sensitivity which can get worse after caning the gb. This can lead to acidosis in severe cases so we make sure we have alkalizing foods now. Lemon juice is good (it's alkalizing when freshly squeezed) and if I get salicylic symptoms, a bit of bicarb sorts it out.

Apparently the body is less able to cope with acidity once it gets past 45 :(

I've been a little disappointed in G. For the first few weeks it helped me sleep and lost me some weight but then it started affecting my sleep negatively. I've dropped using it to once a week and am back sleeping normally - I find normal sleep a lot more refreshing that the sleep you get using G.

Also found it a little frightening memory wise - I woke up one morning and couldn't remember who the fuck I was for about 10 minutes. I think it makes a difference how late you take it at night and what time you're getting up in the morning - if you have to get up before the G has worn off then you feel lousy for a few hours.

G is ok for sleep in the short term. I use it if I wake up too early, say 5am, just to get a bit more sleep but I only get about an hour or so on it now. If I use it for more than a couple of nights it actually causes insomnia.

Phenibut is my favourite sleep aid atm. I get a really refreshing sleep on it twice a week :)

...lost me some weight.

I'm the lightest I've weighed in 20 years. And I've got better muscle definition now than when I went to the gym regularly. I've actually got a four-pack (the bottom two aren't quite there yet) just from doing a few crunches each day which isn't bad for a woman my age who's had kids! My hubby's really toned as well, far more than he's ever been. He's a manual worker but he doesn't work out. We put it down to our gb use. There's no other explanation.

This time next year we'll probably be like a couple Teletubbies :(
