i don't think Tywin hates Tyrion or anything like that! I think Tywin just overlooked Tyrion his whole life and finds himself shocked to see the best attributes of himself appear in Tyrion and not Jamie/Cersei. Season one has that great scene with the two of them where I think Tywin expresses that quite clearly. Queen of Thorns tells Tywin that Tyrion is his true son, and he doesn't speak to her for a year! And then of course, 'In fact father, I believe I am you writ small.'

can't wait for next season!

I have the feeling that due to his father, Tywin is obsessed with what other people think of house Lannister, and that Tyrion's appearance (and later, his whoring & drinking) is not what Tywin wants, regardless of Tywin's abilities.

But why would Tywin have a change of heart when not to long ago he gave Tyrion the power of the hand of the king in his stead. I know that there is some resentment, but you'd think with all the work the Tyrion did, and the trust that he had gained with Tywin that Tywin wouldn't automatically go back to his negative veiw of tyrion once he's in the Castle. That is my question. I know that Cersie doesn't like Tyrion (obviously), especially with the plot to kill him. Even though Tywin doesn't view Tyrion nesscerially the same as his other children, he does acknowledge that Cersie and Joffery are acting a fool. He also see Tyrion as his son, and even said so, which is why he gave him the power of the hand of the king in the first place. You'd think that when Tywin is in the Castle after the battle he would acknowledge Tyrion for all the work he had done. It wasn't like Tyrion was in the shadows, I mean he got the army that was at the Castle to rally up behind him. This isn't something that is just going to remain quiet even if Tywin did come in to seal the day.

I believe it was because the Lannisters needed their position in Kings Landing solidified. With Tywin away at war, Jamie a member of the kings guard and a captive prisoner and Cersie literally being useless there wasn't much other option for a family member from the same branch as the Incest King available to carry out the job. I don't believe he ever really cared for Tyrion beyond wanting to maintain the families image.

This. They don't bring it across as much in the show, but the only reason why Tyrion is around is to keep House Lannister looking good (as in all Lannisters have money, power, etc).

Annnnnd, I thought Dany had a vision of the Red Wedding during her visit at the House of the Undying?

NSFW:
She did; they didn't include it. In fact, they didn't film anything she saw in the House of the Undying in the books, except for Pyat Pree. In any event, this was one of the few scenes in the series so far that really fell short of the book. Perhaps it was a combination of money, time, and just a willingness to bend the rules and cut out *any* potential foreshadowing (note that, of course when you and I read the books we presumably knew nothing about future events, either).

I'm gonna have to go back and watch that part. I must have missed that part. I'm really bad at paying attention to TV and find myself doing 20 different things at the same time. I just remember Jon Snow, Khal Drogo (/drool), and it snowing. I will be rewatching it.

this was at bonnaroo

my boyfriend has been looking all over for me to get them for my birthday but apparently everywhere is sold out of the first like 1 or 2
waahhhh.
hopefully in a week i will be reading them though =D

Wow that is one creepy photo of Joffrey. My sister has season 1 on blue ray and I told her it was a collectors item now that craven HBO bowed to all this fake outrage and recalled all their DVDs and shit. Still looking for screencap escher, but realized its not during the house of the undying, it's behind tywin lannister as he marches into the throne room.
