Asim Ahmad, a British-raised theater actor whose past entertainment work include uncredited bit parts in The Dark Knight and Inception as well as doing some writing for Marvel Comics in the early 00s, is rumored to have been cast as Thoros of Myr, a red priest of the Lord of Light and fearsome warrior. The character was mentioned in the first season (and actually appeared in the first book), and according to one admittedly very secondhand source is a part that “would require [Ahmad] to be in 13 episodes.” Since each Game of Thronesseason is definitely only ten episodes — it’s the only way to keep the gargantuan production costs even remotely under control — there’s a lot of ways to parse that, but the simplest is probably just to say it’s a bit of garbled information and that the key thing is that Ahmad — who has tweeted an acknowledgment of the rumors — seems decently likely to be taking on the role, and it should be a major part in the series. Of course, it’s still best to take these things with a grain of salt until we have something more substantial. [SpoilerTV]

I believe this is only the first half of Storm of Swords, so Oberyn being out of it isn't the end of the world.

But we fucking need Ramsay. He should have been here a season ago. We need somebody to start teaching people their names and shit.

Thoros of Myr (book spoilers):

NSFW:
He was sent to King's Landing to convert the Mad King (who liked fire, and the red priests like fire, so the theory was good...), but by the time we see him in the first book, he's a fat, bald man who is Robert's drinking companion. He competed in tourneys where he would use a flaming sword. He was sent off to hunt down the Mountain by Ned Stark. Thoros became part of the Brotherhood without Banners after Ned was killed. By the time we see him later, he is a skinny, grey-haired man. He keeps resurrecting Beric.

finally started reading!!
i'm a bit into the 2nd book now.
i don't like how they aged everyone upped...14 years old for robb and jon at season 1 my asshole.

rickon and shaggydog <3 <3 <3

i don't like how they're down playing bran's, rickon's, summer and shaggydog's connections to each other and the whole backstory of the children of the forest. cause to me it seems like bran and rickon might have some of their abilities/even be children of the forest...i mean the first men met with them and everything and stark's have blood of the first men soooo...maybe they mated once and some starks have those abilities and the direwolf's awoke it?
IDK.
my 2 cents.

the casting ain't finished yet, there's still some to be announced.

anyway, any of you guys read some end-game theories for GoT? my favorite are:
NSFW:

jon being a targaryen and (just read this one and it blew my mind): bran going totally evil, darth vader style. awesome.

from comic con:

“I was in a department store and I was just in the lift, and the lift doors opened and this woman kind of looked at me and did a double take and just said ‘Khaleesi’.”

basically i would do the exact same thing

My thoughts on where GOT is going (book spoilers):
NSFW:
Since all Bran can do now is control animals and people, fifty bucks says that his skinchanging powers are going to factor into taking over a dragon at some point. If not, then it would still be really awesome, which is why I have a hundred bucks saying that GRRM will go in a completely different direction as a result.

wow Bel!

that is an awesome idea. i really like that idea. i really REALLY like that idea! man, this series is awesome.

About 3/4 of the way through A Storm of Swords.

Just finished the Red Wedding. I knew Robb's decision not to marry a Frey daughter would bite him in the ass. But I had no idea that Lord Frey would ambush them in the middle of a wedding feast!! What about fucking guest right?! Treacherous old man he is. Fuck.

ha, i envy you. I wish i could forget all the books just so I could experience them for the 1st time again.

SoS is defo the best book so far imo, so much crazy shit happening in there.

My memories of what George R. R. Martin said was that the Others weren't strictly evil.

I was going to say that the Children of the Forest may have ties to the Others, but rereading a history of Westeros I found online, it seems that the Wall was raised before the Andal invasion, and the Children of the Forest had a pact with the First Men. Its odd that they'd end up with the Others to destroy the First Men, but perhaps they aren't as good as we'd think.

The end theories are awesome though. I've read more than a few of them online. But it always annoys me that some people think everything is going to end fine and well for everyone. What book are they reading? There are houses in major conflict with each other - Baratheon is never going to forgive the Lannisters, and will attack Targ on principle, Lannisters won't forgive Stannis and see the Targs as threats, and Targ is going to allow the Lannisters or Stannis to live.

This is going to hit the TV series like a ton of bricks. I fully expect a shit-storm.

Theory is that this will be near the end of season #3

Yeah this season is going to be fucking crazy!!!! I read that youtube screenshot you posted of that guy commenting on how "predictable" the plot was getting and I had to laugh. Guy has no idea what is about to hit him.

So I'm trying to get my head around this. As I understand it guest right is a pretty important custom. To slaughter his guests like that... Wouldn't that mean no one is ever going to trust the Frey family ever again? Seriously no one is ever going to believe anything that family says again! I mean seriously would you accept a dinner invitation from the Freys? Ever?

A Frey Knight: "Hello good Ser care to dine with me at the Twins tonight?"

Random Knight: "Ummm... I'd rather eat a plate of leeches fresh from Roose Bolton's ball sack."

How can any family ally themselves with the Freys ever again after this? They pretty much destroyed their own reputation even amongst their new so called allies.
