Yeah, and it's not to expensive. Not much more than a clonazepam script from my experience.
I personally like gabapentin alot. I don't get any recreational effects from it any more, and barely did when I first began using it semi-regularly. Combined with alcohol, it becomes a different monster (in a good way). I could take a gram or so, go to the bar and over a few hours only drink 2-3 drink max. That quantity of alcohol would get me nicely drunk, but with out a lot of the negative alcohol side-effects. There was a lot less potential for a body load, notably less of your typical alcohol induced nausea. There is no alcohol hangover the following morning. It has a clearer head space for a equivalent level of intoxication of alcohol alone, which allows for better decision making while your levels of inhibition are very high. Seen with taking gabapentin alone as well as in combo, it's anxiolytic benefits for social anxiety are through the roof, making it a perfect companion for hitting up women comfortably and confidently.
Combined with amphetamine salts (adderal formulation), gabapentin can make the peripheral body load a lot lower, but seems to also require a higher dose for desired euphoric effects. It also helps stabilize your mood during the peak but also during the come down. So it has it's advantages and disadvantages with amphetamine imo.
With opioids in combo, I haven't had any real notable experiences, but also no negative experiences. It can make the body high a little softer, and add a slight sedation, but no real euphoria increase with it.
Therapeutically it is a excellent drug to treat social anxiety. Gabapentin has very little noticeable side-effects (I've never experienced ANY), and a small physical dependence making it a lot better option than benzodiazepines for social anxiety. Higher daily doses in the gram range can produce a 24-36 hour withdrawal 24 hours after the last dose. This withdrawal can be pretty annoying for that day small window, but knowing it will end as fast as it came makes it pretty easy to get through. If tapered, this shouldn't be a problem at all. Not only is it better for long term use than benzos, it's social anxiolytic effects imo are more effective than diazepam, alprazolam, clonazepam, and lorazepam. Its not as great for general anxiety, but it's social anxiety relief doesn't feel artificial like benzos anxiolytic's effects can sometimes feel, making it a good learning tool for working through it.
It also has pretty great mood stabilization effects. My mood can change fast while on it, though not as steeply, and the recovery period is relatively quick compared to my normal recovery period. It doesn't force you into feeling things in any certain fashion, nor prevent natural mood changes, so it works well allowing you to learn how to control your mood swings while still getting some relief (also with non noticeable side-effects).
It's ability to help get through opioid detoxification is also something that should be noted ime.
