Let's remember the big picture, all these shows on TV are part of the mans WoD. We all know that's a losing battle... these penalties don't stop tourists and locals getting off their scones.

Look, I'm not going to deny the penalties are harsh, but spare me the preachiness based on the narcs propaganda!

People have a right to go to hell or heaven by their own decisions.

While getting caught would suck, you still actually HAVE to get caught.

Certain non-locals especially in BKK, might be in a position to help you attain a zen state, open your eyes...

The cops can surround a club and force all the occupants to take a urine drug test, however since thaksin (an ex cop) was exiled, this nazism seems to have petered out.

Carry the minimum if you must carry at all, get high with your hooker -or buddies in private, avoid narc-magnet venues such as raves.

Don't dress like a dagg. Thais are snappy dressers, they tend to think conservatively, dress accordingly and avoid unwelcome attention (you will forget or ignore this -don't! It could make ALL the difference.)
Have fun, take calculated risks, THINK, you'll do fine.

I like to think it's part of our goal here to ensure people make those decisions educated ones though. If these scare tactics make people stop to think for a minute and research the potential repercussions then they have some value right?

i know this is a bit off topic, but in december i was in india for a month and was offered weed, hash, opium and cocaine. i dont use opiates or cocaine but was very tempted to buy some hash. in the end i didnt, as like in thailand, the guys selling you drugs on tuk-tuks usually tell the cops and get a nice kick back from the bribe.

but has anyone had experience in india. i know there is a thread about india on BL but i havent been able to find it for ages

haha..boy oh boy. Anyways i was just in vietnam on business and i can tell you that anything goes. I was taken to an opium den by a mate, smoked primo heroin and sampled some nice buds from the moutains! :-D

A g of primo H cost like 2 cases of beer here.. hopefully that's aloud ;-)

Anyways its true, bribes are the go basically. I had a cop openly trying to sell me shit. Said he was a cop but said it was all sweet rofl! I was worried at first cause when i went into work one of the blokes told me they search foreiners hotels every day LOL...but this is bullshit.

I didn't end up buying from the "cop" but from one of the hotel dudes a couple times and a friend i made out front that road a bike haha..he took me to the den. That was intense! :-D .. get walked into this room with dudes smackin out all over and this hectic looking guy with tat's walks in and smacks a gram of opium down. Like...amazing looking silky smooth tar like shit..and another guy speaks for him and says "You try, you do not like..you do not buy."

Lets just say i liked...

Its a fucking SICK country as well.. everything is very cheap and the women i was with looked NOTHING like those seedy bitches haha. I'm talking PRIMO top notch women man... everywhere. They are absolutley stunning, silky smooth skin and amazing bodys. MMMMM MMMMM ! :- D and for like $[a case of premium beer] you can have em for a little while Even the oldies are still hot man.. and holy fuck you cannot guess there age!

Can't wait to go back.. i'm actually moving there with work within the next 6 months! :-D SO fun times ahead..

heard cambodia is huge on meth aswell, one of my friends lived there for a year with his best mate who is Cambodian, but he says as long as you dont go walkin in the jungles on your own, its generally a pretty safe country lol

You are right the thread is full of worst case scenarios, but it is necessary to be aware that police pay alot more attention to foreigners and the penalities for getting caught even with small amounts can be incredibly harsh. Bribary doesn't work all the time, as a mate of mine who has spent most of life in thailand (speaks fluent thai) found out. For 3 grams of weed, he was in jail for a month before he got bail (20 people in a cell, with some dieing due to injuries from the cops). he now has a permanent record cannot reenter thailand without a huge ordeal, and lost his student visa in Australia as a result.

The chances are you won;t get caught, and if you are very cautious it is even less of a risk. The issue is that getting caught is big big trouble. A pill at the fullmoon party will cost you a bribe of $1500US. If you can't pay you go to jail.

As for vietnam i found buying drugs a little scetch, particularly from the motocycle guys, but not as bad as thailand.\

Laos and Cambodia were alot more relaxed, with alot less police. One of the main party beaches in Cambodia it was pretty safe to smoke weed openly in the bars. Its a pretty lawless country. As someone asked before, meth is hugely popular and regualrly pushed on foreigners. As is heroin, weed, and opium. You will get hassled all the time to buy it. Just be careful with the hard drugs as they are ALOT more pure than in Aus.

Dude as far as Thai bargirls go, those are pretty minging. You kind for SO much hotter girls there, who don't look like they are in their 40s.

This has nothing to do with drugs, so I hope it doesn't count as sourcing. But anyone going to bangkok should visit RCA. It is a huge nightclubing complex with an almost exclusively middle class and wealthy thai punters. Very few foreigners go, and you will get LOTS of attention from the girls there. most are at university, speak decent english, and many are stunning. They make even the best looking bar girls look like shit. and best of all, they are not prostitutes. just girls going out to have a good time, and if that includes going home with a foreigner then so be it.

Tuesday night is models night. but if you are young and a foreigner you will get in. Ugly thai girls and thai dudes will not. great way to spend a night

Just a reminder that anyone goin to Asia should get Rabies vaccination as its quite common there and if u do get bitten if ur unlucky and u do not seek medical attention within a few days ur life could be in great jeopardy and have the risk of death. Just a friendly reminder as i know a few people who have been there and have been bitten but they got medical treatment straight after they got bitten. Its very serious so be careful.

It discomfits me that many here seem to base their decision on what i see as fearmongering sensationalism.

We could die or become virtual prisoners in our own bodies by being in a car crash, and the stats are vastly greater of this happening than of ending your life in a Horror Hilton in asia by sourcing and using, but that high risk does not stop us driving.

Some of the speculation on here about dealers in cahoots with the cops? Puhleeze! It is unheard of here at home, and it sure as hell is even less likely in asia.

There is this western idea that some inscrutable asian bond unites the cops and dealers against hapless westerners... do be brief!

Stop and THINK about it for a minute... do you think a dealer would even RISK it? As if Joe Thai Stick is going to even go near cops let alone trust them for a dobbers kickback if he is a dealer, would YOU?

Chances are any dealer dumb enough to sell you drugs then sell you out would soon share the same cell with you. The cops are not likely to pay a dealer or unsolicited dobber in Thailand or anywhere else for that matter, usually it's the other way around.

They get PLENTY from looking the other way, in most cases from bar owners and merchants selling fake you-name-it, not by arresting and harassing tourists with a half an ounce, you have got to either blow it in their face, or just be at a place where they are virtually forced to be seen to be doing something, for example, at raves.

Undercover cops may be a risk, but again, they have a crime problem you would not wish on your little aussie burg. Russians, Nigerians, to name just a few, and then the local gangstas, many of whom are Thai/Chinese triads.

They could care less about your lilly arse unless you are totally fucking dumb and do shit at raves and clubs.

FFS, the Thais even make chicken soup with mary jane as one of the cooking ingredients, although you're not likely to ever be offered it in BKK as a tourist.

To stay on topic, let's assume avoiding the law is a legit form of harm reduction, so wise up and use your uncommon sense, also know your drug, know your source, dose incrementally, or stay at home.
