Heroin first time

Note: I have taken vicodin, percocet, etc. but not recreationally. well, i've taken percs once recreationally, but it was a five..

Why are you so against trying another method of administration before IVing? Surely since you have waited this long to do H, you can try snorting or smoking before IVing? What's the big rush to inject?

Sure, you can do what you please. However, I think the advice you have had in this thread has been sound, and I feel you should try to have more of an open mind and be more willing to absorb the opinions of other, more experienced people.

Get acquainted with H and the high before going straight into IVing it. This is sensible advice, and very much harm reduction IMO. Why don't you ask your boyfriend about what he thinks of you snorting or smoking it first? I'm sure he'd agree that it is a sensible idea.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, and I have a feeling you'll be banging tonight regardless of what has been said here. Be careful, and start off SMALL. You can always take more, but if you OD, you can't take it back.

I would also suggest that your boyfriend remains sober during your first shot so he is fully awake and alert if you need him.

You took a 5mg percocet and it was recreational?!??!?!?! O.o

I've never shot up anything or even done heroin, and am just now thinking about shooting up minimal amounts of morphine, but a 5mg percocet won't even bring me proper pain relief! Yes, it will bring me some, but I can take 14 tramadols in a day and not feel anything but medicinal value! I wasn't going to say anything against you doing this because of everyone else pipping up, but now I must request the same thing! Please, at least, try taking a small bump, or chasing a small amount off some foil first! It's not gonna kill you to just take a key bump before you melt some down, draw it up, and push the plunger.

We can't preach too hard about making her not do it, she has it set what she is going to do... all we can do is what some others have suggested, going about the best way to do it for harm reductions sake... That match stick size could be too much but it may not be... that does show that if you're going to use that much it is not terribly pure as someone else stated as well. It's probably good shit, but its still far from pure it sounds like.

I did this. It didn't ruin my life. I bought a good amount and shot up with my boyfriend each night for three nights consecutively. My previous drug experience had been limited to Xanax and LSD. I didn't even begin to smoke weed until a year later (yeah, LSD and heroin before weed. So much for gateways). That was around three years ago. Aside from two or three percs/oxys, I haven't done opiates since.

It was enjoyable, but honestly, injecting doesn't seem worth it unless you're already deeply involved with the drug. It's quite a bit of hassle, it's risky, it's easily fucked up, and it's difficult to gauge how much you'll need to use, especially if you have no idea how you'll react to the drug in the first place. Smoke it, snort it, or stick with painkillers-- that's all you really need. Needles might seem romantic and impressive, but there's a reason they're generally associated with later stages of use. It's like jumping into a five man gang bang before you've had your first kiss. Your boyfriend should understand this, and he shouldn't give you any flak for using more approachable methods, unless he's deliberately trying to usher on an addiction as quickly as possible.

And be aware that your boyfriend's habit makes it much more likely that you'll become a regular user and, from there, probably an addict. He'll reinforce your use and you'll reinforce his. Any combination of co-dependency, sudden death, jail time, loss of any sense of morality, self-hatred, deep mutual resentment, and long nights on bare mattresses may eventually occur. I became a heavy smoker once I finally tried weed when I was 20, and I'm having a hard time giving it up completely while living with a boyfriend who smokes a lot. Constant availability plus constant reminders plus social pressure make it really hard to maintain your resolve in avoiding a drug you really like. If this dynamic is an obstacle for me in cutting out something as benign as weed, I can only imagine how nightmarish it might become with heroin. Just know what you're doing.

be safe, but enjoy, and maybe u shouldn't use iv for your first experience with the drug, try smoking it first perhaps. Just from my experience first time iv'ing most opiates I was pretty much knocked on my ass.

I just did it. In two times. The first time was a mild buzz, ten minutes later it's a heavy buzz. No rush, kind of disappointed.. but I was very careful. I did a fourth of a match head each time. I feel very warm right now, but it's not extreme. It's alright. Thank you all for worrying, giving me advice, blah blah blah. Apparently I have crappy veins though, so my boyfriend says. Um, there will be a next time, only because I want to feel a rush. So, on that note, what do you think my next dosage should be?

Based on this alone you should turn around and walk away from needles forever.
I dated a woman who had the same crappy veins and watching her trying to hit a vein was incredibly nerve wracking. She would end up bleeding like crazy, sticking it in, pulling it out, trying another location, sticking it in, pulling it out... just trying to hit one. It was a disgusting site.
I was blessed with "ropes" for veins and couldn't imagine trying to maintain a needle addiction with anything less.

Glad you made it through ok.

I did get a little sick, i'm coming down now. My boyfriend thinks that I will be fine with half a match head next time. What do you think? And his veins are the same way. (ropes, or whatever)

Sorry, but that's what I think.

Kind of scary that you're already thinking about the next time and raring to go. I predict a needle addiction in your near future and you're just not equipped. This will get ugly.

Good luck.

It's wrong for people to judge you and say you're going to become an addict. They know nothing about you and the truth is most people who try heroin don't become addicted.

But shouldn't the goal be to maximize the amount of pleasure you get from opiates for as long as possible? By going directly to iv heroin you're missing out on so many nice experiences from weaker opiates that could be very enjoyable to someone like yourself with a low opiate tolerance. Codeine --> hydrocodone --> stronger pharmaceutical opiates --> iv , crawl --> walk, then --> RUN .

You mentioned you got sick from it. Not having much of a tolerance to opiates and then injecting heroin, how could you not expect to have a bad reaction to it? You do realize if you'd just smoked some off foil you would have had a much more enjoyable experience from it?

youre so naive, dude. it sounds like you know nothing about heroin..

Why do you say that? I never done heroin, so I guess I might be naive about it, but it is true most people who try it don't become addicted.
I'd venture to say the ones that don't become addicted aren't immediately thinking about how much to do the next time.... a few short hours after removing the needle from their virgin vein.

I read this in a book... Not everyone who tries heroin will like it, but those who do, will like it a lot.

It's certainly true that many, many people have used and continue to use Heroin recreationally without developing a full blown habit. It probably depends on what factors are at play in their lives as to how stably they are able to manage it, but in my experience every single one of my peers who tried it was able to manage their use for a time, but every one of them eventually became a junkie. None were able to manage it forever. Hayley has an addict for a boyfriend, he's shown himself willing to inject a non-user for their first time, despite having first hand knowledge of where Heroin use led him, she's now experienced it, liked it, and is already planning to repeat with larger doses. It doesn't bode well. Co-dependency is looming large over this one, dontcha think?

Sorry talking about you like you're not here Hayley. Noone I hope is going to advise you on how much larger your next hit should be. The simple fact is you may have found the doses you've taken so far are not enough to kill you, but it is impossible to extrapolate from that and say how much larger a dose might be safe. Upping the dose next time is inherently dangerous, and you might not be so lucky with a matchhead as you were with two quarters. Even for addicts who've developed tolerance, the line between safe and potentially fatal overdose can be a fine one, made worse by the fact that you never know if the gear you've just bought is unusually high quality and so much stronger than the stuff you've been taking.

@ hayleyescape: smoking it will give you the rush you're waiting for. That's all you have to do, really. You might be stubborn but you're obviously not stupid. Why the hell would you want to repeat a disappointing experience?? Please take our advice seriously.

Hayley, I'm glad you were careful, and enjoyed your experience.

Someone I know very closely also wanted to try out what her wonderful boyfriend experienced. She also is a thirty-something experienced drug user, and has never been addicted to anything but cigarettes. The first time she did H she snorted it and it was enjoyable. About a month later she decided she wanted to try the needle--the rush was supposed to be the best part, right? So she did that, got a mild rush, and then got violently sick to her stomach. In the year following, she tried another 10 or so times. Despite the fact that it made her sick, she wanted to get the right dose, so she would get a rush and not get sick. She was VERY careful, and continues to be very careful by denying herself the drug when she feels intense cravings. Yes, despite having used it only a few times, she gets intense cravings every once in a while. And she craves it despite that it has made her throw up for 6-8 hours every time! Also, her boyfriend has now been in jail for 6 months, and so she has much less temptation or opportunity. She was doing it every 2-3 weeks when she was with him, and might have increased her usage had he been around.

This person wants me to join the chorus to caution you. It's true, H is not the devil, and a lot of the romance comes from the "elite" status it has among drugs. Heroin addicts also are some of the sweetest people on the planet, and cuddling while on the nod is truly great. And nobody gets addicted from that first hit. But for a lot of people, that chippie turns into a habit... So give yourself at least a few months until you try again.

And since you are the one who knows your body and your reaction to your previous dose best, you are the best judge in deciding how much to do the next time.

Okay. I don't want to know your story, no offense. I didn't ask.

Man maybe you didn't ask for it.. But it's still being offered to you as advice and it might be worth it to consider it. I'm never the type to preach about drug use. It's your body to do whatever you want with and I feel like that's a right that should never be taken from you. But sometimes you gotta sacrifice some fun and play it safe. Because, no offense intended, jumping into trying heroin visa injection is just not a good idea. If somebody can be nice enough to offer you their advice you should be nice enough to consider it man

hayleyescape, is there any way that you can get the same batch that you got last time? Since purity can range so much, the same amount that you did last time with a new batch this time, can possibly be too much. Also, do you and your boyfriend have narcan (drug administered to overdose victims)? If not, I highly recommend getting some.

If you have the same heroin as last time, just do a tiny bit more. With IV heroin, there is a very fine line between getting high, and overdosing. I still recommend smoking it, since you still get a rush that way and it is safer. Well, I recommend not doing it at all, but it doesn't look like you will take that advice.

If your boyfriend has been using since 2003 until now, i can only see this leading down a bad path. He will score some dope and you won't be able to pass up free smack. I wish you luck, because your going to need all you can get.
