Heroin first time

Here is how I see it. I'm going to do it, whether one person or 20 people tell me otherwise. I've set my mind to it. Now don't you think it wise to tell me what you know about dosage, rather than I just do however much and something bad happen? I have said it multiple times, but trust me I do know what could happen, I have been looking into it for quite some time. My boyfriend has been doing it since about 2003. He hasn't given me full details, but he assures me he won't let me take too much, od or die. That doesn't mean I don't want to know specifically what I want to do.

Yes I understand that users and previous users will want to tell me what they experienced, what I'm getting myself into, etc... but it is my decision, I can make my own mistakes. So, please, withing knowing that I am aware of the cons, answer my question, and give me helpful advice for first time, not against!

Please refer to the bold statements above.
1. So your boyfriend has been using for 9 years straight... and you think he's not addicted? Ask him if he could go back and use, would he? And why is he getting you (someone he supposedly cares about) into such a destructive drug?
2. He assures you that you won't OD? So you're saying that the thousands of other (MUCH more experienced) users who OD every year do it on purpose? It doesn't matter if it is your first time, or your thousandth, there are still risks associated.
3. Heroin isn't a mistake similar to any other. If you drink too much, you simply throw up and the lesson is learned. You have plenty of people ON THIS BOARD telling you not to make the same mistake that THEY ALREADY MADE.

No one on this board is lecturing or discouraging you, only trying to get through your thick skull and explain what position you are really putting yourself in. I also find it absolutely hilarious that you have only smoked weed, and now want to try heroin. Do you even know what 15mg hydrocodone feels like? How bout a good hit of LSD or Ecstasy? A milligram of Xanex? Why don't you open your eyes to all of the alternatives that are out there that provide AMAZING buzzes of their own without the insanely high risk of addiction and death?

Don't forget to come back to Bluelight in a couple months and let us know how the jump from weed to IV was. Either 1) You are not addicted to H, and I will have wasted 2 minutes typing this warning out to you. 2) You will have sold your computer to buy a couple bags. 3) You're dead.

I did it once, I was traveling on my own in Cambodia. Sniffed too much, had a mini overdose with no tolerance, got scared enough to never try it again. Try if you want to, I bet it's good if you do it right.

This will be the biggest mistake of your life.

It's the truth. But hey...we aren't here to lecture or stop you. Just be sure you play it smart when you're injecting, do EVERYTHING Captain Heroin said
Do lots of reading about proper injection technique. Do a practice shot with sterile water first; you will likely miss it, unless you have well presenting veins and no anxiety about injecting.

ONLY use new needles, new cookers, new water, etc. every time. The Hep C virus can be transmitted via injection equipment, even if you don't share needles with other people.

Finally, be aware what the signs of missing a shot are, what the signs of hitting an artery are, what the signs of infection are, and this will go a long way.

Yeah that.

IV heroin is a HUGE step up from weed, so just know it won't be what you're expecting. I'm just saying, you sound just like all of my friends did when they first started, really excited for a new experience. Each one of them regrets ever touching it. It's a curse, a pandora's box. Go flip through The Dark Side, you will find "I regret ever entering this hell" to be a very common theme. I'm not here to lecture you, but hopefully some sound advice to you, and the knowledge you aren't the only one affected by an addiction of this magnitude, nor do I think you are prepared for what is to come to you. Let me put it this way. Once I saw heroin destroy the world around me, friends, people, school mates, it actually made me believe in some sort of a higher being. No kind of hell could exist without it. You aren't ready. That's all I will say. It's all up to you. I know how contradictive this all sounds to what I just said, but I can't help but post it on a thread like this. I'm not passing judgement on you, I never do with drugs. But it will be the high you wish you never had.

Again, there's an irony about stating opinions which clearly are aimed at expressing the near impossibility of being able to control usage of heroin at any level then criticizing the community and others for urging her to abstain which is what essentialy you are doing too.

I'm sure the 'community' would be more accomodating (which they are being fairly as it is) to her if:

1) she stated the reasons why she hasn't asked her boyfriend (who'll be assisting with the IV anyway and has 8 years of heroin experience) for the information.
2) she elaborated on her reasoning for wanting to make such a giant leap of drug usage with no stops at lighter insuffcation methods of heroin first.
3) we hadn't witnessed PERSONALLY the horrifying consequences of this drug.

Couldn't agree more.

My first time with heroin (or any opiate, even codeine) was IV.

I shot up a tenth of a balloon myself having learned to IV cocaine previously (a balloon of tar being around 150-200mg at roughly 60% statistical DEA seizure purity reporting). It floored me.

So say 7mg of diacetyl-morphine being completely opioid naive with no tolerance. I felt no good effects, and I also felt effects I have never felt before or since from any drug.

My pupils immediately constricted as small as ever (this part happens since of course) but my eyes were both jumping to the right in a muscular spasm/twitch that wouldn't cease. The whole world felt like I just came off of a long-spinning merry-go-'round: and I would say that's a very, nigh perfectly, accurate description of the sensation. Some nausea, but no actual emesis. My friends had to drive me home (they saw my eyes not able to focus)

This never happened again, but I only IV'd a few more times before I discovered it was too potent for me at that time. I changed to plugging (a liquid solution with the needles removed from the syringe). Which I would highly recommend a low tolerance individual, a much more enjoyable experience: that is, until your tolerance rises. Once a full balloon wouldn't do it for me intrarectally, about eight months or so into using, I switched back to IV which did the trick, and put me into some very good pins-&-needle nods (note: pins & needles sensation is usually indicative of a dangerous amount, or a degraded-into-morphine batch, but it worked fine for me in terms of speed of onset with the same dosage from the other RoA).

My first time i shot half a bag and slept all day on a toilet seat. Subsequent attempts have been "better" the hype about smack never ceases to amaze. Drugs dont kill you foolishness does- johnny rotten.

Use 10% more of the EXACT same batch.

You are at the crossroads between responsibility and fucking people you love over for a dose.

If you don't become an addict you are certainly in the minority.

If you get addicted then you are on a path eaten clean by the drudgery of addict's feet. Others are merely mentioning the addicts cold bodies in the ditches next to the road you have not observed.... Yet....

Honestly using oxy was what fucked me.. like getting addicted to it thinking I could use recreationally safely.. dope was the smart idea lol. Fucking mad cheaper and better (nyc dope is atleast). Sicne switching to H years ago nothing has really changed from years addicted to oxycodone... I eventually started IVing.. and luckily I am addicted to H. The nYC dope is really fuckin clean. I never tried IVing an oxy..but i am sure its kinda nasty how big they are and shit. I use a new pin EVERY time.. I do minimal harm to my body.. honestly sniffing is even worse how much it fucks with your nose. That being said..life using opiates seriously blows ass.

The situation you have put your self in is 100% guaranteed fail, You are going out with an addict and already are in love with it thinking about your next time talking to strangers on the internet about it.

Also you can't get hep c from nowhere.. It has to come from somewhere..i.e. transfer..like you used your friends cotton or cooker. It doesnt magically appear in your pin LOL. WTF... As long as you are not sharing with people you don;t have to use a new cooker every tiem fearing hep c might have been shat out by a misquito flying by... There is nothing at all you can safely share IMO not even a belt.

It;s def a common myth that IV use leads to HEP C. Sharing equipment with an infected individual leads to hep c...

I eventually started IVing.. and luckily I am addicted to H.
Bizarre way to phrase that sentiment....
The situation you have put your self in is 100% guaranteed fail
it is not guaranteed to fail, just likely... if she becomes addicted...
It;s def a common myth that IV use leads to HEP C. Sharing equipment with an infected individual leads to hep c...
I don't think there is anyone here under the illusion that you get HIV or hepatitis C from a clean needle with pure diamorphine in it... I think it's pretty well known how these ailments are spread, this myth you speak of is non-existent.

Smoking black tar heroin is way better. Smoke a little bit and then smoke some weed. Why do you want to put tar in your veins...? :|

Definitely start with a very low dose (10mg-15mg or even possibly lower) to avoid getting horrible nausea that'll put you off H and make your experience horrible. Make sure your boyfriend knows what he's doing, and enjoy yourself m'dear.

It's like saying, "Hey. I was thinking of killing myself. Any suggestions how?" Of course people are gonna try to stop you. to think otherwise is stupid. I went through a heroin phase, mostly because i was hooked on painkillers and someone said he could get it. Luckily I was too scared to smoke more than a tiny dose. I'm very thankful for that, because eventually I went on methadone, got off and realized you can't have such extreme highs without extreme lows, and even a non-addictive person becomes an addictive personality with something like that. You'll grow up and grow out of it.

I already told you the 10 mg you mentioned before is a good idea. Perhaps you missed it in the noise.

You're going to do it, no one can convince you otherwise, so stop responding to them. 10 mg is a dose that won't provide a big rush, but assuming your dope is decent, it will be clear to you if it's something you think you'd enjoy too much in larger doses where the rush begins to really get nice. Do 10 mg, then make the decision only you can make regarding future use and if you think you can control it. Odds are you can't, but starting with a small dose rather than a big dose is much more likely to cause you to make a rational decision as to if you can handle the 'real deal' and keep it in check, or if it's time to walk away.

If your first shot is big and results in heaven on earth, you're probably going to become a serious user like your boyfriend who will enable you as long as you're together. Your boyfriend will probably want you to have a 'proper' experience right away, and it's your responsibility to make sure you only get a small taste of IV heroin and not a full-blown nodding experience.

Sorry about all the people urging you to abstain. Six, eight, ten years ago this was a community much more understanding of people like you who have made up their mind and only need the best advice regarding how they intend to go about their plan. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way harm reduction became harm elimination.

What? Given the nature of this forum, I would say it is a bit of a stretch to say this place has turned into harm elimination. That is a bit of hyperbole, and you and I both know it. Just because people aren't saying " yeah girl, go for it! Heroin is awesome!" doesn't mean this is a forum about NOT doing drugs. Don't be so ridiculous, it is unbecoming. I'm not gonna go into the details because many other people have, but there is a reason so many people are discouraging it. Maybe it is because they remember when they had first decided to try it, and now wish, in hindsight, that someone had talked them out of it. People can "make up their mind" about all kinds of things. That doesn't mean they can't be persuaded to reconsider their decision.

But I am in agreement with you that we should still provide harm production for the benefit of those who were stubborn like us and wouldn't listen to any kind of reason. :)

So OP, I would do what a few others have suggested. Obviously we don't know the quality of the H you are getting, but I know the black tar I used to use and used my first time was pretty potent, as I was close to Mexico and had a direct connect from across the border. So to give you some advice from my first time with IV heroin, here it is: I don't know what "size" your heroin comes in, but if you buy it in $10 sacks, or supposedly a 1/10 of a gram, then this might help. My first time IV was a half of what was supposedly a 1/10 of a gram, or half of one "baggie". Flattened out fairly thin, it was about the thickness of a nickle, but only about as big across as a dime. So I did half of that, and I was FLOORED. Like others said, I puked very soon after doing the shot. But after that, it was pure bliss. And again like others said, i was hooked.

Looking back, I wouldn't say it was too much, as I never blacked out or was close to an OD as far as I can tell, but it was certainly probably more that I really needed for a good nod and buzz. Now keep in mind I wasn't new to opiates at this point, but I was new to heroin. I had been smoking it for about 2 weeks before that, and prior to that, I would smoke a whole 1/10 piece for a nice buzz. IV of a half of one button was significantly stronger than smoking a whole one, just FYI. And to put all this in perspective of my tolerance, I had just switched to heroin after having been addicted to oxycodone at the rate of about 100mg or so a day. More like 150-175 mg if I wanted to catch a good buzz. That isn't as high of a habit as I have heard some people have, but it was certainly a fairly high amount. I just tell you all this so you take my advice/experience with a grain as salt, as it will all be much stronger to you since you have ZERO tolerance or experience with any amount of opiates.

I know you said your BF has been a user for 8 years, so I would hope that he has good clean hygiene habits. But just in case he doesn't, I will reiterate what some others have said. Make sure you use NEW, CLEAN rigs, spoons, filter, etc. If you live in a large city with a needle exchange, that would be the best place to go. They will provide you with new needles, proper filters, etc. But if you don't, at least still use a good filter. Especially with black tar, you want to make sure it is filtered very well. Don't worry about the cotton/filter soaking up your heroin, as it is water soluble and will be in the water. The filter will only catch the gunky stuff you don't want in your veins anyways. And I would advise using a full CC syringe as opposed to a half, as IMO, it is better to use more water rather than less. I say this because you want to make sure it is watery enough, and not thick and viscous. Also, if you use more water, if you start to miss your shot and have to pull out and reregister, then you have wasted less shot if you use more water, since it is more diluted.

Again, like others have said, you would be best at least trying it some other route first, like smoking or snorting. I know for me that smoking it was PLENTY for the time I did it, I just got stupid one day and wanted to to IV it. But if you stick with your decision and go ahead with it, please be careful! I hope my advice and experience can help you a little bit.

Good luck and be safe! :)

I agree with you that no one thinks you can get hep C and certainly not HIV from a clean needle with pure heroin in it, although unless you are in the UK you aren't gonna get pure, pharmaceutical grade heroin. However, I do want to address something about what you said, and probably where the rumor about getting hepatitis from using any needles came from.

Yes, granted, you aren't gonna get hepatitis from new rigs with clean dope, like you said. But strictly speaking, you can get hepatitis even if you don't share needles with anyone. It isn't gonna happen if you use new rigs every time, like everyone here preaches, but I think we all know the reality that many people don't have that good of supply of needles, and therefore have to reuse their OWN rigs from time to time. While there are different versions of hepatitis, they are all essentially the same thing, from a symptomatic stand point. Hepatitis is simply an inflammation of the liver, caused by an infection from a virus/bacteria etc. The strains people usually think of are A, B and C, which are commonly spread through IV drug use, specifically the sharing of needles. But if you reuse your rigs, you risk the chance on introducing bacteria or pathogens to your gear. Or if could be from something on your hands that you contaminate your spoon, cup, filter, etc with when you handle any of those things.

So you can get hepatitis, the inflammation of the liver, from your own gear even if you never share with anyone. It won't be the specific strain of A, B, or C, but it is nevertheless the same ailment, and will carry the same risks. You would still have to get treatment, and would still face the same potential health problems associated with it.

So I just wanted to put that out there and let people know. It is important to know and good reminder and incentive to try and use new needles whenever possible, even if you never share them with anyone. So while I obviously don't have any hard proof, I think that is probably where the stupid rumor came from that you can "give yourself hepatitis."

"The more you know...." lol. :)

wtf??? You CANNOT get hepatitis from yourself. Yes, you are correct in saying that hepatitis itself is a condition of the liver characterized by inflammation, and it can be caused by other sources then the specific viruses(A,B,C) but these are very specific causes, such as alcohol, certain hepatoxic drugs(such as alcohol) and a few select toxins.
The point is, reusing your own needle a thousand times isn't going to give you hepatitis. Although a few toxins cause it, these are all specific toxins you would have to repeatedly expose yourself too. Simply leaving a needle out for a few days or reusing a rig period will never ever cause hepatitis, under any circumstances. It's a disease characterized by chronic exposure to damaging substances(hence why long term alcohol abuse can lead to it) and not something you just get from an airborne pathogen.

Sorry but had too correct you, and trust me, I am highly motivated to know about hep, if you catch my drift.

And they are not virtually the same. Hepatitis C is for life, a chronic condition. As far as I know the other two are not.

I cant remember the first time I used heroin..... Benzos have ruined my memory of the last few years,

I loved it though. <3

Heroin killed my father, and raped my mother!

No, but seriously, heroin is no joke. (Excuse that first joke.)

I think that we're all kind of missing the point here. No one here should be an advocate for any drug, really. The bottom line is that making the decision to try any substance is a very personal one and not something that you should encourage or discourage a person from making one way or the other. I've thought long and hard about this, and honestly, all that you can really do is give an individual all the information at your disposal or at least point him or her in the right direction; and please, try to give that individual solid information, not your thoughts, maybes, and well-I-knew-about-this-one-guy-one-time-who...

It's unbelievable to me just how many people here believe that heroin's addictive potential is astronomically higher than alcohol's. It's not, and in fact it's very much comparable to alcohol's, so I'm not exactly sure why we're arguing to aggressively against heroin when many of us here would just as quickly hand a friend a beer without thinking much of it. It's just as likely that your friend will become an alcoholic, and alcoholism isn't none prettier, folks.

Now, I know what you're thinking, and here's where you have to stop yourself... "but I knew this one guy who died from an overd-" UH-UH-UH! NO! Don't you say it! Because if you can't think of a friend or relative who has drank himself or herself to death, then you're not thinking hard enough.

Look, heroin is not the devil. Like most substances, it's dangerous. And like making the decision to try any substance really, all of the different outcomes, both good and bad, are infinitely possible. You'll never be guaranteed one or the other, and so it's a real gamble. I've known people to have tried heroin once, thrown up, and never touched the shit again. (It should be noted that I've also known people to have the same experience with alcohol -- got drunk, threw up, never touched it again.) I've also known people to have become chippers, junkies, and whatever else...

I'm not sure where this idea came from that "you try it once and that's it; kiss your wife and kids goodbye, because your beautiful, bright and shiny life before is over and your new, sleeping-on-park-benches, addict life has just begun!" 8)

Please for the love of god do not do it. I don't come on this board very often anymore, but I felt the need to post in this thread to tell you that if you do it, it will be the biggest mistake of your life. IV especially tends to hook people worse than others, and when I started using, I smoked it for about a week before I started shooting. I have been with many people who have tried it for the first time IVed. I would say a large percent (>50%) get sick and throw up, and cannot handle the histamine reaction from strong black tar. It can really tend to burn your insides and if you arent used to it, it can be very scary for a first time user. Not to mention the fact that I would say even with a tiny tiny amount, I have seen about 1 in 7 or 8 first time users OD very badly from IVing the first time. When I say OD i dont just mean nonresponsive, I mean their face was turning blue and they were aspirating vomit.

Basically my advice is stick with the weed. Please do it, you will have the biggest regret of your life if you use, not to mention the potential legal consequences if something unfortunate happens.

Best regards,

Stephen

Damn Straight Heroin is a terrible drug.
