So I watched this film again yesterday to gain some perspective a couple of years after first viewing and... yeah, I still think it is absolute crap.

All the homosexual scenes, be they pseudo-porn or just that weird brand of huffing, forehead-rubbing romance, are all so carefully choreographed, one can only imagine a very poorly done porn movie viewed by a straight guy as an inspiration.

It just doesn't happen that way.

Again, I get the distinct impression that this was a film made by straight people for straight people - much like the Japanese Yaoi phenomenon ("gay" comics made by girls for girls).

The most classic scene has to be:

"You may be a sinner, but I aint had the chance to sin yet" (or something along these cheesy lines)

*few mins later*

Huffing, forehead rubbing (wtf is up with that?)... and... *spit* *fuck* (WHA!?)

OMG. How embarrasing.

what do you expect, rave bathroom fuckery?

context, jammy.
cowboys in the mid sixties.

I knew that Lee/ Ledger/ Gyllenhaal weren't gay.

The fact that it was written by a heterosexual woman is kind of weird though. Then again she was a single mother, she married in the 60's, had three kids, only to divorce him 20 years later..

Maybe she found out he was gay.

;)
