Festivals 2011

Hey guys...

I'm visiting europe in end may-june. I was earlier thinking of visiting ibiza for my dose of partying...but now I have decided that I wont go to Ibiza...way too expensive and mostly just clubs.

There seems to be a lot of nice festivals happening everywhere in Europe...I think it would be WAY more fun being out in the open at a festival rather than at a club in Ibiza.

There are a few good festivals ive been able to find for the time I will be there...but since I have not been to any of these festival/countries before..if someone could help me with chosing which one...it would be great.

1. Spirit Base Festival (Austria) or Psychedelic Mountain (Switzerland)
They are both happening at the same time.....Im more inclined towards attending Spirit Base because of the lineup of artists as well as the location..apparently it is just 30 mins from vienna so that means I wont have to camp at the festival site and could probably come back to a hotel in vienna whenever needed. (I doubt my wife will be very enthusiastic about camping...even though she would love to attend a festival..she has never been to any festival anywhere before)

If you were to chose between the two...which would you pick? My main criteria would be:
1. Music of course
2. The general vibe/attitude of the people attending...if they would be welcoming of someone from a different country or not
3. Availability of some nice LSD..??
4. Safety at these festivals..by that mean if these festivals are licensed events or are they underground with chances of getting busted/getting into trouble with the cops?

One of these festivals would be the start of my holiday...probably ending with Solstice (Amsterdam on 18/06)

Security is often high,but if you use common sense you will have no problem,
The dogs at the gate at some festivals can be a bit offputting,they just seem to be for show though as I have passed them many times holding pills etc(well hidden),and had no problems,
 
mate Im not worried about passing through the gates with security.....the chances of me having anything with me before going to the festival are next to none...

my concern is...if ill be able to find what i want AT the festival...it would be a total bummer if i end up going there and dont even get to meet sid...

and secondly...if I do manage to find some....if its a safe environment to be off your face...having to worry about cops etc while being on a trip is not a good feeling (happened once in India...parties regularly get busted in india)
 
Once you are inside you will be fine ,if you have a female with you they usually have better luck getting hold of gear, but if you keep your eyes open you will find something no prob,
As for once you are inside, you will have no problem with being off your face, the security only tend to step in if you are in need of help, otherwise they tend to turn a blind eye,
 
Hoping to work Glade and the Secret Garden Party this year, will be my first festivals, not got anyone to go to them with so think that working will be a good way to meet some other people as I am not too good at starting conversations with total randoms, will at least have working at the festival in common with the other stewards.

Hopefully meet some bluelighters at both too.

Need to get my deposit in soon, got a lot of things to pay for this month though, gonna have to budget myself well to be able to afford to pay the deposit. I think if I wait until my next payday on the 25th of May then it will most likely be too late for Glade.
 
It's mad to think there are people on here who have never been to festivals, it's part of growing up / teenage years and beyond.
 
The last festival I was at was in 2006 or 2007....Rainbow Serpant Festival in Melbourne.... it seems so long ago ....Im hoping to make it to atleast 1-2 festivals this year.....after such a long gap im getting as excited as i was when i attented my first ever festival :)

I was also considering glade but it seems way tooooo expensive!!!
 
hope to go to VANTASTIVAL 2011 next wend.its a bring your own booze gig so a cheap few days.

it's probably about full now, have a look! if not, there is Green Stewards who I have worked for before who will probs need a lot of people

edit: FV isn't full, still a fair few shifts going! Greens still have places too :)

I'm pretty excited about Glade being smaller again this year, although I did really love it a couple of years back.. pleased the lineup has picked up a bit too, Producer and Current Value, cannot wait!! <3=D

its early August I think, the 8th or something, yeah theres a lot of scouse/Wirral folk there, we were the young crew from manchester most others were a bit older but both times has been lots of naughty fun.. 5 rooms playing good tunes, anything goes, lots of funny fancy dress and just a really nice feel to it

last year we wandered off into the woods on a cocktail of things, mainly acid, and just had the best time blowing bubbles.. laughed so much I nearly died.. the whole weekend was the highlight of my (mainly shit) summer :)

this year got Glade (!!!!) and hopefully Boomtown as well so should be a better one :D
 
any irish BLers north or south going to VANTASTIVAL this bhol wend.
its located between Dundalk n Droghdea so handy for Dublin or Belfast folk.
80euro for a wend ticket and bring your own booze.
 
Turns out i'll be cycling to Dour this year. As well as Fieldview and maybe Bestival. And maybe Out To Graze and 2000 Trees... hopefully.

Youll love the mayday, nature one and ruhr in love events, they are top notch, just been to. mayday and it was the dogs bollocks, from house, to trance to techno to hard techno to the most intense hardcore youll ever hear. These things are in germany so theres no moody bastards, no attitude, no trouble and really friendly people. Germans are also funny as fuck. The only difference is dealers are harder to come by so travelling via holland or bringing your own is recommended. Most germans speak good english and have no problems with us. Sonne mond sterne and melt! are also great fun. Fusion is a proper hippy affair but tickets are like gold dust.
