Festival Season

Where is the rainbow gathering?
I was hoping it would be in AR this year... but if its not too far away I'd like to try to go.

Someone told me MO? is this right? I might have smoked the info away or mixed it up.

^ missouri?

shit, if it's in my state i'll be there.

edit...i just checked the site and it says it will be in either arkansas, oklahoma or texas. so you have a one in three chance :)

The more I hear about it/talk to others the more I want to go to schwagstock... especially with Bassnectar, Ben Harper playing.

I doubt its practical for me to go w/o carpooling though. Gas is fucking nuts.

Do they have reasonably priced food and stuff there, or do they jack everyone on it?

shakedown street has alot of food vendors that have 5$ casadilla's and such, kinda over priced, but its all good.. best bet is to pull into the walmart supercenter thats like 45 min out of town and grab your shit as you going in. there are 'unauthorised' vendors that will sell a hamburger for like 2 bucks, and usually there is a free kitchen that runs on donations, plus i doubt anyone (including myself) would leave ya hungry ;) just get there and the rest will take care of itself

man, it's $55 now to get into schwag??? that's some bs...it used to be $35 when i used to attend :( and there were only about 2,000 people there. ohh the good 'ol days ;)

My bad man, I smoke pot.

Bassnectar is at Wakarusa, not schwagstock.

^ack...well i already knew that :p ;)

that would be awesome though.

speaking of zoe, is anyone going to the big summer classic? i was planning on it but i didn't realize tickets were $125-$150 8o

I've been thinking about trying to hit up more stuff in that area. Its all a lot closer to me than I'd realized. I'd be doing around 4.5-6 hours to either wakarusa or camp zoe, assuming I didn't get lost on the way (and I will, probably 3-4 times. then I'll get stir crazy in the car, get out, smoke a joint, then space out for another hour and a half and then get something to eat).

I don't mind paying a bit for the tickets, as the festivals are kind of the highlight of my summer, and I don't do SHIT in the winter. I get really sick of being in the house all the time. Arranging time off from work isn't all that easy for me either, which sucks when you need to get somewhere thurs or fri morning to pick out the primo camping spots.

Its the gas that kills me. In AR the gas prices tend to be a fair bit below the national average, and its already hitting $3/gal. I can only imagine what it will be like in the middle of the summer. I'd have a hard time rounding up locals to car pool with me if its not mainly a psytrance event. :/

Eclipse Festival definitely. KOXBOX!

and hopppeefulllyy Shambhala...but there's no way i can afford 170+ bucks for a ticket on top of getting out west in time. aggghhkk but the lineup is so fakkin good this year. and the vibe. O! the vibe.

where do you live?

NW AR... boston mountain region-ish.

I think I am passing on schwagstock due to the drive, lack of local interest, and I'm not all that into jam bands (though the atmosphere would be great I'm sure).

The AUM festival looks way, way, way better to me (psytrance FTW!) and is aroudn the same time and far more convenient to get to. Plus the area it is in is stunningly beautiful, and I can more actively participate. July 25-30th in Eureka Springs. Eureka Springs is a trip anyway, the town is like 95% hippies. I do wish people would knock it off talking about crystals all the time though...

If I had the money to burn and motivation (at least the motivation is there), I'd like to try and set up a theme camp, but I don't think there's enough notice at this point to round up people and con them into it.

If anyone goes to AUM, shoot me a PM.

i absolutely adore eureka springs and have been meaning to get back there...this actually sounds like a lot of fun. hmm, i wonder if i could convince my bf that we should go...

how much are tickets? (i didn't see it listed on the site anywhere). and also, is there camping at the festival or do you just find somewhere to stay in the area?

:)

The only thing I keep hearing about tickets and the lineup is: soon!

So I don't know about that. I can pretty much guarantee the music will be top-notch, though.

It is a camping event. There should be plenty of space on-site to set up a tent, something for shade, all that. It will be hot and really humid, so I'd keep that in mind. There are supposed to be showers and stuff, but I don't know how primitive it is.

Who cares though, its going to be sweet!

^i'm used to the hot sticky humid air of missouri, so no worries. and so long as there is a river/ source of water nearby to submerge in, who needs a shower? ;) :D
