Festival Season

^ the memorial day one?

i was thinking about going, but we have some good friends from madison, wi coming in town that weekend. well, that and we're leaving town the two weekends sandwiching the event and then heading out for a massive 3 week road trip in the beginning of june.

oh and hey...i wouldn't bust your ass *too* hard getting to schwag. i personally don't think it's worth buying a plane ticket to get to. surely you can look on jambase's festival guide and find some small low-key festival that is comparable to schwag closer to home :)

The A.U.M Festival will establish a safe gathering space that facilitates the exploration of consciousness and connectedness through inspired, underground psychedelic trance music and culture. It will encourage the growth of the North American psy-community; emphasize our ability to heal ourselves and each other; embrace an open, multi-generational perspective; and promote an earth conscious, leave no trace ethic.

Join us for 4 nights and 5 days as we gather high up in the beautiful ridges, cliffs and crystal encrusted landscapes of the Ozark Mountains to create a temporary autonomous zone. Imagined boundaries will melt away as we come together to raise the collective vibration through psychedelic music, art and dance. Each day of the festival will be devoted to honoring one of the Five basic Elements as we spiral towards the center: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.

When you need a moment of peace amidst the chaos you are welcome in the sanctuary. Trained volunteers will be standing by ready to offer assistance and valuable information on harm reduction.

Other festival areas that will help facilitate community building:

PLAY -----> FAMILY AREA
An open play space for kids of all ages. There will be games, toys and art supplies available as well as scheduled group activities throughout the week.

NOURISH -----> COMMUNAL DINING AREA
Bring your own food, share a meal with friends, or purchase food from one of the vendors.

VENUE INFO:
On 143 acres of hilly ridge top property there are onsite
bathrooms, showers, an outdoor amphitheatre, a covered mainstage, a covered pavilion suitable for serving meals, electrical hookups in many of the campsites and hiking trails (one leads to a cave that can be safely explored).

TRAVEL:
The nearest town is Eureka Springs, AR. The nearest airport is the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA), approximately 1-1/2 hours west of Eureka Springs. Alternatively, you can fly into Springfield, Missouri (SGF) located 2 1/2 hours north of Eureka Springs OR Tulsa, Oklahoma (TUL) located 2 hrs 45 minutes west OR
Little Rock Airport located 4 hours south.
We are in the process of arranging bus transport from the airport to the festival site.

$55 (LIMITED to 150 tickets)

Once those tickets sell out:
Until June 30: $65
Until July 20: $75
At the gate: $85

(Children under 14 are FREE; Residents of the county get in for $30 at the gate all week w/ valid ID)

in a couple weeks im going up to nelson ledges quarry park around akron, oh for a pink floyd celebration/tribute-type deal. should be a good time. either way, it will be nice to get away for a weekend.
 
Damn straight it looks cool. The chill lineup is still being expanded as well.

This is going to be one of the better/best parties of the year, I think. The music is going to be just absolutely amazing.

They are having a bunch of random workshops/classes too.

I would camp early and get under the trees though... its going to be very hot and humid.
 
You should have been here a couple weeks ago to watch Goa Gil at Deerfields (outside of asheville). It was freaking amazing...the man put on a 17 hour set...techno neo-shaman weaving patterns in sound and feeling over the dance floor...transcendent.
 
One of my best friends drove out there to see him. I was really too broke to go, but I ended up being free and almost drove up to meet him head out there. I went to a local psy party though, had a good time, figured I didn't miss too much.

Then he told me Goa Gil played for 18 HOURS STRAIGHT. Jesus Christ! I thought they'd give him more than the 2-3 hours a big headliner at a psy show tends to get... but spinning for the better part of a day non-stop... thats something else.

I was pissed I missed that... thanks for reminding me.

that looks incredible! our free time is july 1-14 so i think we will opt for undergroundsound. wanted to go to the rainbow gathering, but it is just too much work. any bl'ers going pm me.
