Festival Season

got tickets for All Good, went to starscape last year i'll prob go to it again, second priority once i get money is 10KLF then bonnaroo
 
bonaroo has police substations everywhere, no thanks

ive heard so much horrible shit about bonaroo (from veteran festival goers, not just first timers), that i couldnt possibly give so much money to them
 
^ is that true??? eh, fuck... that really sucks, there are allot of bands i would like to see... fuck the cops though... thats the weakest thing ive ever heard

There are some undercovers, and they are busting dealers, but mostly on a big scale. It does nothing for the guy looking to have some fun for the weekend.

I will say this: As you enter the festival, the cops will board your RV and/or search your car. They of course ask for permission, but to say no would be a mistake I think.

In NO way is Bonnaroo any less fun because of police. There are police, shady people, and stupid shit whever you go. Play it cool, be nice, and it's safe...

And, I have been to Bonnaroo every year. It is the greatest party!!! I maybe saw 5 clothed police officers on the grounds all 5 years.

because ive been to a shit load of festivals, and NONE ever searched your entire vehicle..infact there was NO SEARCH AT ALL.

saying no to an illegal search of your vehicle is a no-no? no THANK YOU

your not alowed to bring your own water to the stages, or your cooler! that is ridiculous.

last year everyone i talked to said they were never goign back, that this last year was the worst yet, besides the bands. they said they were harrased by police, the water was full of chorine and it terrible to drink, the ticket price is insane (still is!)

id rather not support this corperate crap sorry, id rather give my dirty dollar to someone who is in it for the music and not the money. theres plenty of festivals that dont have advertisements everywhere
 
I've been to many many festivals. In fact, I own a business where we are vending at festivals every weekend during the summer, and spend a lot of my spare time going to festivals and concerts.

"Bonnaroo" wasn't searching vehicles, it was the Manchester police department. They were right at the entrance . I only saw this last year. They were randomly asking if they could search. We were the only rv they asked for a while. I wanted to say no, but something told me to comply. Since I was ahem, 99% clean, I consented. They were nice, but doing it for the money. I heard they gave out some fines for illegal drugs. I'm sure some people were arrested.

You gotta expect it, anyway, with 80,000 people! I'm not saying it is right, but odds are that someone's doing something they will get caught at, and get arrested, with that many people.

I mean the beauty of it is that such an event even happens with all those people in one place, where there is basically no crowd control except for some mounted security who are really nice.

About water: You can most certainly bring water to the stages! I carried water bottles in my backpack all day every day. You can take all you want into Centeroo (supposed to be sealed) and then there are water stations at which to refill- and the water is actually good. I didn't drink any of the water in the campgrounds, but Centeroo water was good, really. I take food in, too. You can take all kinds of stuff into Centeroo, but you are right- no coolers. That rule is fine, anyway.

Last year was NOT the worst in my opinion. I have preferred other headliner bands, but all around last year was better operation-wise. (Radiohead rocked, too, and I was never into them before then.) They are perfecting the huge festival, and it shows.

Man, at a gargantuan festival like Bonnaroo, it is what you make of it. Granted you can't control everything, but it sure is a good time anyway/because of it.

The ticket price is not insane when you consider all the bands and entertainment they have at Bonnaroo. IMO, it's worth it. There is music for anyone and everyone at Bonnaroo. I tell my non-music lover friends that it is like Disneyworld for music lovers.

Superfly is the company that puts on Bonnaroo, and they aren't really corporate crap. They are a homegrown company that has the balls and money to put on a great festival with great music. Read up on them if you want. There really aren't advertisements and crap everywhere, Bonnaroo has a logo, and they are capitalists, if that is what you mean.

has anyone rented an RV for hitting up a festival? or is this prohibitively expensive?

it's something I'd like to look into for 10klf this summer--my car is much too small to transport friends and equipment, but don't want to drop hundreds of dollars to do so.
 
well all the people ive talked to (whom opinion i trust, no offense, ive been to plenty of good shows with these people) hated it.


off topic but there was a guy off the shroomery forums that as soon as he left the place the popped him, they had been taking pictures of all the shit he sold and everything.

im not saying dont go and have a good time, but if you do dont bring anything with you.
 
eh, ill probably still go just cause everyone i know is pretty much going.

not liking what im hearing though.... focking cops. i mean its not like im planning on selling anything, i just want to have a good time, the full experience so to speak.
 
yeah the only reason i wanted to be there was tool, but ive seen em enough times to not want to spend the 300 bucks. theres a shit load of parties i could hit up with that money.

last year there was a ton of bands i wanted to see, this year not so many

sucks, i hate working at places that cant keep their shit straight, i mean its a business, people work for you and expect (bare minimum) to be paid what you promised and on time. it isnt that hard, i ran the books for a few weeks when i was like 17.

But I'm taking my dad to CaveFest (that's 2 hits of 17), Interfuse is 25, CaveMan and Underground Sound are probably both 40.

Which means I might make it to the August Shwag if I get money coming in. But I've been having a shitty time finding a new job.

I think I just to strip or something.

^^ahh, so youve pretty much got a full plate as it is. i think im actually going to revamp my plans, probably nix bonnaroo after whats been said, eff the police... its not about the drugs at all, but bad vibes are bad vibes and UCs just emanate them

burning man looks awesome. 8 days?? hell yea, if i can get there ill be there, but school starts like that week haha so id be missing a shit ton of class right off the bat, not so good. i like how they seem to run shit there (from what i can gleen). no rules as long as you dont fuck with anyone else.
 
i havent seen Sunshine Daydreams on there. im going to TreeHuggers this weekend and Jerrys lates on in August, Damn i didnt even know about starscape and i live in Annapolis!
 
I'll be hitting StrangeCreek, most likely Camp Bisco (depending on the lineup) and perhaps Vibes... Vibes and creek are basically in my back yard so... no excuse not to go!

so the list so far is: bonnaroo, ss, all good, burning man, shwagstock (maybe), gathering, and a few other little ass local festivals. and i know im forgetting like one big one or getting something conflicted but i cant remember right now
