[Feedback Thread] How can WE improve on the PD forum? Suggestions welcome!

Oh, no, actually I'm wanting to change that to something more useful and sightly. =D The link that's there now has been there for longer than I've been here. I'm wanting to arrange information up there to be as useful and noteworthy to new posters as possible. A giant link saying to read the rules before posting isn't always conducive to encouraging people to actually do so.

You may all be happy to know that we've begun constructing the new Big and Dandy thread format, where there will be subthreads for specialized topics, which will make information much easier to find... no more rooting through 20+ pages of posts, most of which have nothing to do with what you want to know.

2C-B will be the first to be released. Expect it pretty soon. :) The entire project will undoubtedly take quite some time (to get every substance updated). We've got to go back through all the old archives and posts and sort them all out.

So I've finished reorganizing the Big and Dandy 2C-B thread! You guys should check it out. It's near the top of the forum currently, and the Best of PD page is also updated to it for the 2C-B entry.

The first post in the thread has links to all of the focused topic threads. Information should be a lot easier to find now, and the threads should be easier to follow as well since it's not a dozen topics all woven together in a confusing jumble. Also it will be much easier for the mods and less annoying for the posters to have their questions/threads merged in to the big threads, since the individual topics are borken out into separate threads.

:) Please let us know what you think... this is a concerted effort to try to make information more accessible and user-friendly for this forum, and it's a lot of work (the 2C-B thread took me 5-6 hours in total).

I think it would be awesome if people had to use thread titles that were descriptive of the post contents, topic, or something along those lines.

It doesn't have to be a thesis statement or anything. But I HATE coming here and seeing threads titled "Yes or no?" (Yes or no what? what the hell are you talking about?). "

"Salvia question".... ok, cool, but can you not go ahead and ask it as the thread title? Or provide some sort of hint so people can glance at it and read further if they know/care, and pass if they don't?

"Problem"... thats thorough, for sure.

"Hey I'm New And Thought This Would Be The Best Place"... this is about drug addiction, serious issues, and help needed. I thought it was someone wanting to score acid or something who didn't read the rules. So I never bothered to give any input or help.

"I have an idea"... ok. WTF is it?

"Sugar cube acid"... its about splitting a couple doses on a cube. Why not "How to split combined doses of acid on sugar cubes?" (or whatever).

"How much does it take?"... How long is a piece of string?

"Not sure if this is the right forum"... its a question about a drug combo, but from the title it sounds like they need a site map.

"Some Advice"... Giving it? asking for it? I dont know, it was too vague of a title to sound like the thread would have any real content, so i didnt bother.

"Help me understand"... Well, what can't you understand?

See what I mean? these are all real threads from the PD forum. Seems like for a forum that is supposed to be more advanced discussion than the basic drugs forum, people should, you know, tell us what the thread is about. I get artsy titles and all that, not trying stifle that. Its just weak when people cant be fucked to type out something descriptive. I generally can't be hassled to help them with their problem or whatever in this case, either, it wastes too much time, and makes the forum look watered down.

^^
You're right. That was the worst part of Trip Reports years ago but since we put up the "Please title your trip reports substance - experience level - descriptive title" in big letters at the top of the page, most people get the idea.

I like that, fizzacyst. I'm in the process of redoing the top of the forumarea, where it currently just says to read the rules before posting. I'll include something about naming threads. And of course we mods can always remame threads quite easily. I sometimes do when I think to.

as someone who is anal about thread titles, i wholeheartedly agree. and i'm fed up of fixing spelling mistakes in them too, all over bluelight. ;)

^In some ways, the thought of that fills me with great dread and deep forboding.

As to thread titles, I am rather random about changing them- thankyou for bringing such to our attention Mr Fizzacyst, something I will make an effor to do more often.

I think the best of pd thread should be renamed to The Ultimate Psychedelic guide or something more obvious about what it is

^I have pondered that for a while I admit....when I joined BL, I had no clue what this best of thing was, and generally never used it. It wouldn't take much to change it, it may break some links though, I am unsure. Good suggestion Mr Filikins..:)

^Do expand on that idea SanGaz :)....We have the social thread, there was an AIM chatroom associated with it- do you mean anything like tht, or am I utterly wrong? :D

that AIM chatroom is pretty dead lately. we should revive it :)

it was "pdchatz" and then it was "doesb9approve" so one or the other.

No thats near the mark alright,i was thinking more specificaly one directly connected and imbedded in the site, i havent been on in a while my interest in psycedelics waned for a while so maybe it is like that anyway.. :) They can however detract from the threads.
