I mean let's keep the love going... it's been a long time since we had a negative vibe in here and I've been greatly enjoying it... as I'm sure are the rest of you.

^And? Read through this thread for some answers as to why threads are closed- usually its because they have been covered before.

Anyway, no need to exagerrate really- your suggestion has been made to every mod here, and no, we are no going to start leaving threads open just 'cos. One of the main reasons is because a simple and basic topic often invites flaming and we don't really want that.
 
You have to understand that, unlike CE&P or DiTM, the topics in this forum are much more susceptible to rehashing. Many of the closed threads are topics that have been beaten into the ground already in one form or another.

Until a slew of new RC's is released on the market, this situation probably won't change much.

This is a suggestions thread. You made a post- thus a suggestion. It is not a complaints thread. If you have a complete, take it up privately. (even thats a suggestion)

Threads are closed for so many reason we have stated so many times its pointless going into it. Anyway- SKL isn't a new mod; and even if he were it would make no difference. He has my full support in everything he does ever (yep even his dreadful nose-picking....hmm yep ;)).

One reason that threads get closed is to prevent flaming. It happens- a oft asked question is apt to be flamed by people who know 'better'.

While we do appreciate your complaints or blunt statements or what-have-you, please take a moment to think WHY threads are closed. Generally, there is a very good reason. It doesn't matter who did, we're all relateively sane ;)

Yup it was the crazy priest & he did it with the sacred chalice in the spaces between things that most people never see....that's what I reckon anyway.

Not that it matters.

Swilows point stands tho - it doesn't matter who does it & when they were installed as moderaters isn't relevant.

I went through the recently closed threads on the first few pages of this forum and came to one glaring observation:
almost all of them categorically either explicitly broke the forum rules (it is up to you to know these rules) or they were a question of the type that would be VERY EASILY answered with a little research (either inside BL or on erowid or similar).

Chances are nearly all of these questions have been asked before and discussed on here, so there is no point to use server resources to cover the same ground (SEARCH for yourself!).

I don't know any other better answer to this complaint/suggestion. I would suspect if the complaint persists in the face of this explanation/justification then the complaint holder is a malcontent looking for a reason to pick at the mods.
 
I'd say the vast majority of the threads I close, like Gaian said, either break the rules, or ask one-off questions that could be found searching BL or looking very quickly on Erowid. Harm reduction is certainly answering questions, but it is not necessarily hand-holding. We are here to help you with questions that you can't answer elsewhere or to shed some light on questions which may be obscure, controversial, or unclear, but we're not here to answer every simple question you could find the answer to elsewhere ... to do so would put an unreasonable demand on the time of users and staff, all of whom have lives and are volunteers here. Our aim is to keep the forum clean and open for the sorts of questions we ARE here to answer.

Also, with regards to closed threads, users are ALWAYS free to PM the mod who closed them with a question as to why. I haven't received such a PM in a good while, and, actually, I've re-opened a good number of the threads regarding which I received a well thought out PM. If you don't even try, your loss.

Also re: PM's. Don't feel attacked if your thread is closed- if your wondering why it is so, simply ask politely. It often gets a better response from a grumpy cunt such as I :D
 
Perhaps the person closing the thread can point the OP in the right direction.
ie: the big and dandy thread relating to the subject or a thread that answers the OP's question.
If a thread is breaking the rules, closing it is understandable.

But if it is a person asking a serious question that has been asked before that person should either be linked to the answer or given an answer before the thread gets locked.

Just a suggestion.

A good suggestion indeed. In the case of legitimate, but somewhat redundant questions, of course.
 
Can we please get a sticky post with ALL the big and dandy threads in it.

I think that would make it easier to find some of them.

Also can someone point me in the direction of the big and dandy oral dmt thread.

It's the Best of PD page and it's always been there, longer than I've been a member actually. Normally it's the link in the big blue announcement box at the top of the forum, but right now there is another announcement so it's overridden.

hey can you check to make sure all the chems are on there? I seem to remember looking and trying to find mescaline (for isntance) and not being able to find it.

edit - yep mescaline is not on there
