[Feedback Thread] How can WE improve on the PD forum? Suggestions welcome!

^Well it is a good, if not already done idea. Though the alpha-numeracy of it is not available. It was only about, ohh 4 months ago that I realsied it doesn't automatically shuffle things into alphebetical order- why would it, its not alive....yet, I presumed on Its intelligence. Silly!
 
Well A big and Dandy thread directory would be nice so one could simply look at a big list of all the dandys and find what they want,
But this could very well exist and I just missed it....alot

theres too much. i don't think that many people care about Q's from 2004etc. Drugs are drugs they don't really change,...... that's the biggest thing about these kind of forums I don't like, there's too much crap. another thing is there's too many rules, I can get away with more on yahoo answers. Let people have a little freedom.

Also it's boring here, add a little color brighten things up. Not very good place for answers based on fact either, and being redirected to erowid doesn't really answer peoples questions. And closing people's topic's is dumb. Let people close them theirself. I'll give you 2 out 5 stars. Fix this place up. I'm probably won't be coming back here.
 
^ Lol, out of curiosity, which rules would you abolish?

As for color, that's something you'd need to talk to the mods about. Personally I don't care how pretty BL looks, it's the community and discussion I joined up for.
 
Through searches, I've many times referenced threads several years old. I find it very useful when I'm looking for something specific. As Toad points out, drugs don't change much, so it's not as though the information becomes obsolete (he had intended to make the opposite point, but if you follow closely, I think - in this instance at least - my logic will be preferred).

One of the things that led me to this site was it's simple, straightforward appearance. If it had a more colourful, cartoony image, I'd be less interested. For me, frilly edges and flashing lights distract from intelligent discourse and attract people with a mindset/maturity-level very different from my own.
 
^ +1. It is good to have the information and experiences already there for people to read; I know that OD would be a lot more difficult to manage if we didn't have that information available, and I'm sure PD is similar in some ways.

As for appearance; we should have seizure causing strobe lights and a dancing baby or something. Just for the lolz.

Farewell then. :)

We're not trying to be like every other forum. And we're sure as hell not trying to be like Yahoo Answers. We've tried to create a sense of community and a supportive atmosphere where you can be sure you're receiving good, valid information. It's a place where you are supposed to search for your answers yourself first, to support people informing themselves. It's not supposed to be a place where anyone can post anything they want... the forum regulars are the ones answering questions, and we don't want to answer the same questions 500 times. You learn more anyway by finding answers out yourself. And there are rules because Bluelight is very visible and we need to protect the site from government. I think you will find that we leave threads open unless they violate one of the rules and if they haven't been asked a million times. And finally, we try to encourage intelligent discussion here... the point isn't for us to go over the same tired information over and over like so many other forums do. You can get away with more on Yahoo Answers because Yahoo Answers is trying to be a place where people can go to ask a simple question, get a quick answer, and move on. Bluelight is not aimed in that direction. Or at least PD isn't.

Plus the site is focused on harm reduction first and foremost. If you don't like what we stand for, which is fine, then you would probably be best to go somewhere else. :)
 
On the topic of color, a style with light text on a dark background would be much appreciated. Staring at a bright background for a long time is a major strain on the eyes. It would be a fairly easy addition to the Quick Style Chooser in the bottom left, wouldn't it?

Otherwise, I love this place, my favorite psychoactives forum on the net!

I for one HATE the black background, on ,say, the shroomery. I think our white background and uncluttered appearance makes us look dignified and professional, as our site strives to be in comparison with a lot of the other drug-oriented sites on the intarwebs.
