Facebook: Hate it or Love it?

The only reason I still have one is to keep in contact with people that I care about. Other than that I can't fucking stand it so I never get on.

I was on facebook when it was new for college students but even then I never put very personal info on there like my address, phone number, or anything like that. I have friends who have done all of this though. I only joined it to keep in contact with friends I've known for years and from college. I never really got into constantly updating my status, telling the entire world just where I am at this current moment, or any of the other things people do on facebook. I never bought any facebook stock either.

I went through periods where I'd have a facebook account, and then I'd deactivate it and not go on for half a year. Eventually I went on it for about a year but I never went on daily. Then recently I got completely bored of it and just deleted my account and even if I try to sign in again it won't activate my account or work at all. I don't plan on joining the site again.

twitter is really better, because people are constrained and therefore more to the point and clever.

i hate facebook at the moment because i get drunk and histrionic, and last night i posted all these smiths songs with certain lyrics picked out and MY GOD, i am that person.

i need more people to waste time chatting to online, but as you get older you find less and less people willing to do that that are worth it. ie 4chan and redditors probably have that kind of time and inclination but is that what i want? no

My views on Facebook have changed in the last year, I use to despise using it and at one point deleted my account for 4 months.

But this was also a period in my life where I wasn't been very productive and Facebook managed to take up a large chunk of that time; since traveling I've found it to be invaluable for keeping in contact with people I've met on the road and also as an interface for sharing photos and info of where I am and where I'm going..

I don't get twitter. It just seems to be a collection of out of context half thoughts.

^ It depends on the user, really. Some people share their private thoughts on Twitter, but most people, like myself, use Twitter to share interesting articles and web pages... Doing that on FB has only brought me stupid FB dramas, while sharing politically sensitive articles on Twitter has never resulted in that kind of bullshit (at least in my experience).

I guess I'm one of the few people who actually enjoy fb.
Living in a new state and don't really know many people, so fb is an easy way to keep in touch with friends. I know a lot of people who are great to hang out with but suck at conversations that aren't in person, so fb kinda keeps us in touch 'cause I wouldn't txt or call them.

I too enjoy facebook. But..

It is a love-hate relationship, and I sometimes ask myself if there is anything good that I get out of it. It's purely entertainment and I, along with many people, seem to forget that.

Don't have an account and really don't like it for the reasons others like chickenscratch and mel22 have mentioned. However, I don't find it as repulsive as twitter.

I fecking HATE HATE HATE Facebook.:X
I sooo regret the day that I ever got an account.
HATE that they keep changing privacy settings. :sus:
I have deactivated my account so many times.
Mark Zuckerberg is the devil incarnate! Lol
:p

privacy settings be damned, you are always in full control over what you put on the internet.

I just use facebook to keep in touch with certain invdividuals 90% of the people I speak thing I can count on one hand and I certainly don't pay too much attention to what people are saying. I mostly talk in PM to certain people. That's it.

lol it was fine when it wasn't linked to a business fb account but now i've no choice unless there's someone out there who can enlighten me and tell me how I can deactivate from my own personal account without losing all my business account history etc., please remember I'm not technologically minded (just barely).
=D
