Another dish that I could probably eat every day - looks great. You've set me off now so I think I'll have a spicy salad for lunch.

When I fancy a quick dish like that I often make it with squid (that can be defrosted and cooked in minutes), cherry tomatoes and a crunchy lettuce (Kos normally) - same kind of dressing as the Papaya Salad.

Near cleared-out the reduced section at Co-Op earlier. Soooooooooooooooooooo many tasty things. Several of 'em are basically ready-meals but they really are surprisingly good. Had slow-cooked beef ragu with tagliatelle earlier and got a couple other belters on ice for the next couple days. Couple drinks in me so opted for one of the snackstuff options reductionally acquired earlier. Saving the empanadas for... not today... so went instead for the mini smoked cod, mature cheddar (Davidstow as they are very keen to announce - which is actually rather fine cheddar as far as mass-market cheeses go) and wholegrain mustard cakes - wiv chilli & garlic sauce for the dipping of. Was only planning on eating a few and saving the rest for tomorrow but things as tasty as that cannot last. It is a physical impossibility. Yum <3!!!

Jalepeno pork scratchings... I wasn't aware such a concoction existed... where did you purchase this snack?

AFAIK it's only available from the farm that produces it and a handful of local shops. They're produced very close to where I live and the local garage is the only place that sells 'em. They are even tastier than they sounds. Amongst the finest things I have ever had in my mouth... I'll leave it up to Sadie to comment on the finest things that have been in her mouth ;)

This thread's certainly livened up! Loving all this foodie and fantastic cook chat.

Consumer your creations are a joy to look at I just wished I could smell and taste them. Bear's work in the kitchen is always a joy to foodporn over and Shambles you have such amazing good taste in local ingredients and flavours in general.

I do miss THECATINTHEHAT though, put appreciate this must be his busiest time of year professionally - his culinary arts are pure joy. Just wait to you see and read Consumer, the man has amazing cuisine talent. Come back Cat!X

Me I'm a traditional Scottish housewife cook (a greedy and try my hand at anything type..lol). Both my mum and grandma who we lived with were professional cooks so I grew up around cooking and "proper ingredients". Apart from my homeland food I love Italian and Indian. Places I've visited, eaten local and love a lot.

Being on lazy drug taper mode I found a beef ragu in the freezer from a previous batch cook. A nice one with loads of red wine, pancetta and fresh ingredients, herbs n' garlic etc in it. So it turned into a pasta bake with cavatappi pasta - tight spiral shaped. Loads of fresh Parmesan and breadcrumbs all baked crispy on top. I stuck mozzarella slices in the middle of the bake to satisfy the Man's cheese love. It was gooey and carb-savoury - hit the mark considering I had no appetite today.

New Year and Hogmanay here in Scotland is big! I'll be cooking traditional things for guest first footers. So that'll keep me busy later in the week on prep-work.

Thanks for the complements Kate. I love my food and really enjoy cooking. I have no idea about Scottish food though apart from Haggis so i am curious to learn more.
Its almost lunchtime here and i feel like a burger so i am going to duck up the street to the butchers to get me some ingredients. Its time for a mega burger!

Yes... and it was fukkin' delicious
The fuck do you want? Me to slaughter an animal every time I'm hungry?
I do so with cat... ;)

No off course I don't wish you to eat animals every time you're hungry, we don't either.

Cooking from scratch is easy and healthy, never mind cost effective btw :\ I like nothing more than spending time in my kitchen in one of my pinnies cooking %) So much for the insincere BL love babyboy :D Gies a break!

But I do disapprove of you sharing the GoCat and mixing the sachets of Whiskas into pasta and the like. Are you a fucking student?...Poor fucking cat 8(

Fukk' yo break bitch, get in my kitchen and rustle me up some food!
I'm almost 9 stone these days: make it healthy!

The whole 'Junkie with a stim problem' thing kinda got in the way of food for many years. ;)

^ Don't sweat it, Sprout. I said the same thing for longer than you have been alive. Just ask Kate what happened over the last few years as far as my waistline went :|

The moral of this story is to stick to a strict diet of strong opies, crack cocaine and hardcore stimulants in order to retain one's svelte figure. FACT!

(disclaimer: the above may not be entirely fact!ual)

I did Gammon earlier, fuck anyone who can actually cook. :p

Very nearly bought a 2kg hunk of gammon half price earlier today, Decided against it in the end as just too much meat for me to be able to use in a reasonable timeframe. Plenty bargains to be had post xmas though - this pleases me!!! =D
