Tuna tastes like shite.... bearable with enough salad cream or mayo... i just eat it for the protein. cheap and convenient indeed

Munching on some cheese bruschetta. Not "proper" bruschetta - packet thereof. Tasty though.

Curry powder is for people who don't know how to use spices propely :p

And tinned tuna is for people who happen to have it around cos it's cheap and convenient. I agree it's not actually kedgeree which is why I generally refer to it as 'not-kedgeree' and the like. It's a tasty thing whatever it is <3

Kedgeree is the only reason I've got curry powder in the house. Anything cooked with curry powder tastes of curry powder. Wouldn't dream of using it in a proper indian dish, but Kedgeree is not a proper indian dish, it's anglo-indian. The ersatz taste of curry powder fits IMO.

My version was never intended to be authentic but do take your point - curry powder is brilliant for things you wish to taste of curry powder.

Speaking of semi-cheats, Patak's Fish Masala spice mix is excellent with fish. Not hot spicy but very flavourful. It's one ingredient I use for my own spice mix if I happen to have it to hand.

Just about to have chorizo, black pudding and fried eggs on toast. Hoping I've got some beans in the cupboard.

Was yum. No beans:( but was nice with a big dollop of HP fruity.

Continuing the fishy theme, had beer battered cod sarnie for dins. Bought some sourdough bread and was still warm from the oven so had to put summat in it and just so happened there was cheap beer battered cod to hand so that was what went in it, innit. Also bought meself another of those "ingredients inna box" things for tomorrow - Thai Green Curry (again) but not had this particular one before and has more interesting gubbins than most I've seen before.

Just finished my Fish Pie - turned out alright for a second attempt. Bit ticked off because I forgot to put the prawns & egg in... most likely because of my lack of sleep last night.

It did however have the right sort of taste, so a step towards perfection. :)

Got a Croque Monsieur waiting to be ate - see it's 'French week' at Lidl.

(If anyone here has read the book 'Atomised', it's getting scarily like that).
