Modafinil is shit IMO. There's a reason why a stimulant isn't scheduled, if it's weaker than coffee.
Sorry to take the post away from the topic but I would like to agree with 50% of this statement. I found modafinil to be shit but weaker than coffee? More unpleasant, less malleable YES but weaker - not IMO.
Back to nootropics - I've been on levetiracetam (1g daily), for treatment of epilepsy, for about 6 months now. Whilst I've noticed huge improvements in memory, many of these relate to the withdrawal of my previous epilepsy meds - though I think that after 3 months of being on levetiracetam alone, I was functioning a tiny bit more efficiently.
Before I continue, is there anyone here with the knowledge to suggest if/how/why levetiracetam acts similarly/differently to piracetam? Here's a wiki link to racetams, which has the structural diagram of piracetam and a link to the structure of levetiracetam:

I have found that levetiracetam
hugely potentiates ketamine - particularly the pace of onset and levels of dissociation from 'real world' objects found within the k world.
I'm not sure about whether it potentiates stimulants - I have tried methylphenidate whilst on it and am soon to try dextroamphetamine. The negative effects of methylphenidate seem slightly more prolonged but there is some 'buzz' that wasn't present when I took without levetiracetam a few years ago.
I cant comment on mania - I create all my own mania-esque scenarios by abusing methylphenidate (prescribed but abused because it doesn't work for my ADD). The levetiracetam seems incredibly clean, physiogically and cognitively silent.
