as an aside, anyone know how 20 years ago or now for that matter, they'd have produced a track like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxxHfFxAPbA - specifically, the grinding snare. i guess 20 years ago they didn't have DAW's, was all that programmed into a drum machine bar by bar or was it added with a delay and nobs or something during recording? this is my fav dnb tune (walked around brighton one morning with it on repeat doing lines of speed waiting for my train..) and it's been annoying me how it was produced.
 
Time to start learning how to do 4 decks on Traktor. Wanting to start using samples a bit more. :)

I may well be wrong, but I THINK that that's done just by looping the sample of the snare, and the different tones it has are a result of shifting the loop point.
 
Yeah, I like it enough to pay for it, been away from it for a long time but sort of slightly getting a bit back into it lately. Post yer sounds!

I love that software. Can't use it now though as I can't be fucked getting Windows to run on my mac.

I'm gonna skin a joint then get tore into Traktor. Hopefully get a decent mix uploaded later today. I want to do a skelping techno mix, but as soon as I'm stoned I'll be right on the deep house lol. Need to get a few cans of Stella in for the night or something so I can belt out some angry techno haha.
 
LOL, I've just resumed mixing vinyl with a passion and I have a similar plan for daytime tomorrow regarding smoking and mixing, as my girlf is going to be out and she hasn't been responding very well to the combination of (slightly) discofied house, old breakbeat, techno and acid which has been thumping out of late. She should at least be grateful that I never got properly into goa trance.
 
Just got tore into a 2 hour deep house set. Listening back to it now, sounded no bad at the time. Apart from 2 massive fuck ups. Missed the bass kill button when trying to drop the bass back in after a break :| & also grabbed a hold of the jog wheel thinking I had it set to the filter (when I didn't), causing a mad trainwreck for about 2 seconds until I corrected it, predictably this happened after well over an hour of recording. Probably one or two other slight fuck ups but bugger it. I'll upload it shortly.

Valium & a fat joint aren't great for flawless mixing lol.

What's the track coming in at 0:24:30 ? I wish mixcrate showed times against the track list. Just having a list means I have to listen to the entire mix, and the first 20 minutes is a bit boring ;)

I suppose I'll just have to listen to the whole thing.

EDIT Nah even that doesn't work, as I'm not paying attention the whole time.
