Fair one

Youve seen true detective aint ya? Rust dialogue... genius

Aye man, it's awesome.

"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward then, brother, that person is a piece of shit. And I’d like to get as many of them out in the open as possible. You gotta get together and tell yourself stories that violate every law of the universe just to get through the goddamn day? What’s that say about your reality?"

Usually my pirated films are about 2-3 gigs, but I wanted to try a proper bluray rip and it was something like 24 gigs, bloody huge. I went with Saving Private Ryan cos you can't really go wrong with that film. Have to wait a few weeks to find out what it looks like on a nice screen though. Current film collection is 1tb but recently got another hdd so will be filling that up shortly.

What do you watch them on ? 2-3 gigs is pretty high for a standard movie and team YIFI or ETRG usually have a 720 version for way under 1 gig. 24 Gig is stupid size for blueray and I would stick to around the 3 or 4 gig (unless you have bandwidth to spare). I have a flat screen tv / surround sound and usually stick to under 4 gig and still have perfect results.

=D

I'm usually just watching them on my laptop or my housemates 32-odd inch 1080 tv.

The 24gig one was just downloaded out of curiosity to see what it would be like watching bluray quality. Not watched it yet cos I'm waiting to visit the parents and see it on a nice 42" screen (of which my dad brought home one day, mum was not best pleased :D) as it wouldn't do it justice on my 1080 17" laptop.

Would love to have surround setup like you do but always have to wear my headphones, which are still nice (Sennheiser hd 380 pro) but just not the same as a decent setup.

I think 2-4gig is the sweet spot. I downloaded a lot from YIFY but to get his file sizes are impressively low he shortcuts in quite a few places so replaced a lot of them. I think a guy I used a lot was called anonymousx iirc, but tbh when looking at the page of results I usually open them all up and judge which one to download by the user comments.

If your watching on laptop stick to the 800 size - above that and your just wasting bandwidth. I have a nice tv (need a new one and looking at the ES8000 65inch) I think this one is 55 or 60 inch with the usual sound system. The biggest I downloaded was just under 5 gig and that was for Samsara - its breathtaking and full Blueray quality.

YIFI is great (if they put a bit more effort into the sound which lets them down on every release) I love 'Juggs' (haha not something I'm used to saying) - B movies, but quality is perfect (sharknado ftw)

All (most) 1080 pirated films are 800, but it's just because they cut off the black bars from the top and bottom of the films. If they were literal 1080 downloads and not 800 it means you're downloading a lot of empty black screen (unless you have a cinemascope aspect ratio TV which they vary majority aren't) and wasting a lot of bandwidth.

And you're right YIFY's sound is pretty poor.

This is why I stick to the smaller downloads for standard films and go for the bigger sizes when its heavy on the CGI etc - Mind you when your playing Blu Ray on a big tv with the sound cranked up - its something else. Fuck it - now I want a new tv !

its crap i watched it a few months back really boring

Gave me bad dreams FG so did its job for me in the 'proper scary' department..It did get shit reviews though (Film- VHS we is on about) so maybe I am in a minority with oppinion, apparently there is a Japanese version of VHS 2 which is "really REALLY proper scary) and I don't doubt that, has anyone seen it? FG?

Wolf of Wall Street is absolute gem of a movie. Was very impressed with Out of the Furnace and Dallas Buyers club too :)

The Escapist. From 2008 I think.

A more updated portrayal of life in a London prison than Scum. Jesus christ does this film feel realistic. (Not that I'd know, but it just feels real IFKWIM) I'd seen it before, but as with a lot of films that Ive watched over the last few years I was probably so benzoed out of my head that i failed to take it in/remember it properly. The booby prize for this is that you get to enjoy films as if watching them for the first time twice, when you can only vaguely recall snippets of even fucking outstandingly good films like this one was. The casting is so good, a lot of the characters look like people i have met or seen walking around, and been terrified of.

am i the only one that found the wolf of wall street a bit long and just a taaad over the top/ boring in bits?

the scene where he is crawling to the car and climbing in using his feet was awesome though.... reminded me of MXE for some reason

I lapped up the over-the-top bits, cos I knew it was only slightly exaggerated truth :D

Watched it at home though so the length wasn't as big of a problem. It's nice to be able to pause the film, get up go make something etc.

Agreed on the country club car scene. Don't think I've laughed as hard at a film.

I just got around to watching ---

paranormal activity - the chosen ones. I loved it and probably my fave of the series

Snow Piercer - This was a bit of a long drawn out affair but still enjoyed it (gorgeous visuals etc but left thinking ...
NSFW:
wtf

Old one but - We are what we are. Worth a watch

13 sins - Not much hype about it but a good thriller

*Edit*
After the dark - interesting plot

Had the pleasure of re-watching two old-ish but brilliant films last night. A prophet, and This Is England.

A Prophet, is some young lad who gets 6 years in French jail, first time out in the yard he gets done over for his trainers, and it looks like he's gonna struggle to survive in jail. There are Corsican Mafia gangs and Musilm gangs amongst others that have power in the jail and the guy has no friends, no protection, and no power. Does he get by somehow ? (The guy in the film reminds me of Cornishman looks and age wise, he takes what is presumably heroin during one scene of the film. Thats not really a spolier, its no way a major part of the film, just one minor incident along the way.)

You've probably all seen This Is England. That film is so good, Stephen Graham as the scouser NF loon is fucking awesome, about one of the most intense portayals of such a character ive ever seen. Set in the aftermath of the falklands war in 80s England those were rough times. The soundtrack is fucking awesome too. Full of great reggae, ska, punk, acoustic and classical music. An 11/12 year old lad has to deal with an immensly difficult amount of shit thrown his way.
