EADD Benzo Discussion v. Finally remembered to start a new thread.

God knows what will happen after the ban to all those still dependent on large doses of benzos and haven't been able to taper. Most gps don't want to know and most DSPs don't do benzo tapers anymore. I forsee a lot of 999 calls for seizures in the next year. Paramedics have iv medazolam and iv diazepam to deal with grand mal seizures but that's hardly a long term solution. It makes me shudder just thinking about it...

My next door neighbour who is a bloke in his mid 50's was taken to hospital last week. He has been on diazepam + temazepam for over 20 years and methadone for quite a few years also. Anyway last week he purposely took around 300ml of methadone and a load of his benzos that he had saved up in a bid to end his life. Luckily for him he had forgotten that he had his keyworker visiting him in the morning and she saw the state of him and called for an ambulance which came and took him away. He was in hospital for 3 days before being allowed home.

I saw him very briefly when he got home as he had family with him who have taken him away for a week or 2 while he sorts his head out. I spoke to him on the phone at the weekend and asked if he has now fucked up his methadone & benzo script as doctors etc would be reluctant for him to have the means to try and off himself again. He hasn't lost his script but whereas before he would get a weeks worth of benzos and methadone in one go, he now has to collect one days worth each time so he can't try and overdose on them again. This is the second time he has done this but the first time was before i knew him. Anyway he's back this weekend so i'll be keeping a close eye on him for a while.

Glad the blokes all right. Yeah there's no way they would let him do anything other than daily pick up after trying to off himself with his prescribed meds. He's very lucky to be alive as methadone and benzos is usually a fatal combo if overdone. My old housemate accidentally killed himself last year on exactly that combo. He wasn't prescribed either and unfortunately for him his greed exceeded his tolerance. I actuality found him and gave him CPR until the ambulance got there but he was gone.

Shit, sorry to hear that mate. I,ve told my neighbour that if he ever gets that low again then he has to let me know as we can't help him if we don't know how he is feeling. He really wants to move away from here as he feels he has no chance to get off the gear permanently while here as half of our closest neighbours are all on the gear. The council whether by accident or design have stuck a lot of us junkies in flats all within a minute of each other so it is hard to avoid the gear & people while stuck here.
Hopefully he will get help to move away so he can be near to his sister

ditto. i'd love to buy a few hundred clonazolam before the ban and leave them sitting an a drawer for months or years but that's as unlikely as me walking on the fucking moon unfortunately.

Same, would love to be able to keep even ten or twenty etiz around for trips or bad hangovers but I couldn't. Also find what englandgz said worrying, I was lucky enough to get treatment and have a fairly understanding GP but I know there are a lot out there who won't, or people won't realise they're addicted or how dangerous withdrawals can be. When I first went off benzos cold turkey I was living with my parents for a few months and my mother wouldn't entertain the idea of letting me buy less potent ones to taper even though I told her how bad it could be and I knew my family GP wouldn't consider a taper and I was too sick to drive home to see my GP. Is a potential fucking disaster awaiting.

The problem is it seems so random. If you have a good gp then it's possible to get prescribed virtually anything but get one who's a bit of a twat and you can forget it. It's total pot luck and pot luck is no good when your talking about people's lives.

I didn't post much about this at the time, but I know first hand what asking for medical help coming off RC benzo's is like - I've never felt "dirtier" than being in the vicinity of medical professionals once they learned of my dependency.
The issue was that most don't show up on drug tests, so I was told bluntly by one of the docs: "for all we know, you're lying to get drugs. So unless you're actively seizing, we can't do anything".

Can anybody comment on these 2mg xanax? I could swear I had them for glastonbury about five years back and thought they were diazepam. But that was a long time ago.

Also, has anybody purchased any "99% pure" alprazolam powder" off the internet lately? I got stung with this last year and ended up having a horrendous diclazapam experience. This is different stuff, and the majority of the reviews are positive, but there are a few calling it out on being junk. And it just seems far too cheap. I think I know it's too good to be true. Unless anybody can prove otherwise?

Anyway, here are the 2mg xanax:

i have no idea but i kind of got a little bit hypnotised looking at the fuckers. gawd i miss my xanax.

im not sure on this, but they don't look right. if they have xanax written on the packet, shouldnt they look like the upjohn xanax. generics would usually say alprzolam or have a weird name like ZapAnx or something, right?? or does the rights to the name run out eventually, letting other companies use it?

I've alprazolam packaged the same as that, they were ok as I remember but nothing special. Average quality indian fakes it seemed to me. Doesn't bear a whole lot of relevance to what you mayhave there though.

Pretty much all non western pharmaceutical benzos are about the same standard really, I'd say. None conform to patents, and none conform to the rigid testing procedures, whether it's a lab in india, or some clandestine lab elsewhere. That's the way I've always seen it anyway.

They're guaranteed knock-offs, but the best xanax I've ever tried were 2mg loose bars.

THECATINTHEHAT - How many mg would you say they were, per tablet?

Definitely fakes, in terms of being "Xanax" as opposed to Alprazolam.
Though they do look professional and I admire whomever was in charge of the appearance.

As above; roughly how equivalent is 2mg "Xanax" compared to 2mg of genuine Alprazolam?

:) <3

I've got no idea, to speculate on levels would be both idiotic and unsafe. I wouldn't even go so far as to say they were definitely aprazolam I only had a few hundred as I remember. The most I would be prepared to venture is that they contained some kind of benzodiazepine that was enough to become intoxicated on pretty easily.

=D

I've had official, branded xanax and I've had knock off alprazolam tablets.

All of the 2mg alprazolam tablets I've ever tried have been roughly 2mg alprazolam, in the same way that you can tell whether a diazepam tablet contains roughly 10mg of diazepam.

10mg diazepam, or 1mg alprazolam, for me = completely ineffective. 20mg/2mg = sweet spot.

No you can't tell, you can make an assumption. I could have a (fairly good) guess but given this is an HR forum the idea is to deal in facts, not guesswork.

Very true Owen mate. Since different benzos have different anti-anxiolitic, hyponotic/sedative and anti seizure indices it's difficult to say that x of one equals y of another for many reasons. For example on the road we primarily use medazolam (IV) for grand mal seizures as it works so fast and is very reliable (you can use buccal medazolam but it's not as effective) We also use iv medazolam for Ketamine administration to try to block out the emergence phenomenon since we use 15-20 times the recreational dose via IV which causes instant k-hole and unconsciousness without suppressing respiratory depression but can lead to nasty emergence phenomena and NDEs. The medazolam causes such Amnesia that the person doest remember too much after. The diazemuls (IV diazepam emulsion) and also rectal diazepam are used to sedate people in general and as an adjunct to opiates to create analgesia. I was taking to a para the other day who was convinced we should be allowed to give IV diazemuls to aggressive and generally pain in the arse violent people but I doubt clinical care are going to buy that one.

I know I've rambled but I just wanted to give an overview as to how benzos are used in emergency care and show that they are not necessarily interchangeable. Ketamine is a drug that really interests me as the thought of being able to render someone unconscious in order to intubate them (you can't intubate a conscious person cos of the e gag reflex and Ketamine causes no respiratory depression. Unfortunately being a run of the mill standard paramedic don't get given Ketamine as it's only given to hazardous area response teams (HART) and helimed rescue..... All though there is talk of giving it to everyone. I've witnessed it before and a slow IV push of morphine, Ketamine and medazolam is a sight to behold. I've never seen a person that fucked up in my life!!!

I know I've gone on a tangent but the moral is that even using Ashton, interchanging benzos is a complicated business.

I'd appreciate it if you weren't so readily willing to patronise me, thanks. I am well aware of what bluelights intentions are, having posted here for twelve years.

You've already made it clear that you're not willing to guess, can't remember, and don't know. As such, I am no longer asking you to guess anything. I'm just stating that I can tell when a tablet contains roughly 2mg alprazolam, which I can. I am in no way denying that this would be regarded as an assumption.

I didn't seek to patronise you for saying "you only had a few hundred", as if that isn't a ridiculously high (dangerous) amount of benzos, which could endanger some unwitting and new forum viewer.

midazolam is probably the only other short/intermidiate acting benzo i enjoy. ive had it 5 or 6 times bucally via oral syringe and it hits within 3-5 minutes. iv would be amazing but im unsure how safe it would be to inject the buccal solution as its very oily

Please don't inject buccal midazolam. It's a drug that I've had plenty experience with. Never taken it myself but have administered it iv to others many times and the iv preparation is completely different to the buccal. It's not safe to inject buccal midazolam so in the name of hr ease don't.

Take care mate <3

Is that the stuff dentists use? I think I got given this once by my brother-in-law who is a dentist, he was performing a basic check up or some shit, but we thought it would be a good idea for him to inject me with some. I don't remember fuck all, he could have buggered me for all I know. Anyway, we had planned it so I had someone to drive me home.
