Defining moments in your rave life

I have a few :) Ill list in order...
1) Sitting with a good friend and some travelling companions in an Amsterdam Hostel. Shooting pool, smoking joints and chatting to some simply stunning Dutch girls. It was a magical evening with slow funk hip hop playing over the sound system and knowing that although this is the last night any of us will ever see each other agai, its very special.
2)At a rave with my best friend of about a decade, his first time on a pill. We were both utterly mashed and decided to chill out for a bit. The conversation we had hasnt ever been repeated or mentioned since but I learnt a fucking heap about that guy on the balcony and I know he understands me deeper as well.
3)Sitting on the sandy rivers edge of a Jan 01 party this year. I was with 2 very good friends, one of whom was leaving for Europe. The sun was shining, the sand was crunchy and we were just looking around listening to world class tunes and watching people dance in the river. This was probably my #1.
I want it to be the weekend :( :( :( :( :(

.. my "defining moment" would have to be November adjventjah @ kryal 2002.. (the BEST partay i've been to.. IMHO) :)
Walking out of the bassstation room into the main arena and dj SHOKK dropping cafe del mar.. it was just.. *sigh* .. BLISSS!!.. then ringing every person who wasn't there.. shouting.. "CAFE DEL FUKN MAR!!" . .and collapsing for ages, lying on the grass at the back of the oval with the sounds of dj SHOKK.. BEAUTIFUL *smiles*
 
I cant believe ive never posted in this one over the years.
i cant just say one moment cause really its been such a long time since i 1st stared going out to raves.
My 1st rave ever was amazing.EMbrace 92/93 nye party.Ive only been to a handfull since that,that have had that atmosphere.The 1st 10 Every Pictures captured it for a while there :)
Id have to agree with Daimo about Carl Cox at Pure.That 1st time i/we/everybody heard 3decks i think it changed us all and moved us to the next level in techno,in a way.Fuk that was unbelivable!im getting goose bumps as i type :) Oh and i cant forget Cosmic Baby at the Palace,that night also helped by my 1st real biccie.Was a snowflake i think.when they 1st stared naming them.That night Cosmic Babys whole set was playing in and running through my body like ive never felt b4!

Also.1st time CJ Bolland came out.if i could remeber what party it was,aie.could have been a hardware at shed 14.Dont remeber,only remeber that his set was absolutly insane.Up there if not better than Carl Cox,back then.
All the BEZERK series of parties that started at the Laser strike zones.If anyone remebers them.Laser strike=Run around in a maze trying to shoot your friend with a laser gun.You had a pack on your back and chest that alert youd been shoot.Anywhos they started having parties there then moved them to Kryle Castel.I think it was BEZERK 4 was the 1st Kryle party ever.As bad as it was with the dust and the circus tent,it still stands out as another one of the ultimate nights,mornings of my time.That and BEZERK 5.heehee :)
Now ill stop going like i have cause i could wright a novel and if i explained why ever party i loved was special,aie curumba.Be here for ever.
So ill quickly name,names and stuff like that which stand out in my time raving.

Hardfloor @ Chinese Laundry.Never have i heard a live Acid set sound any better than it did that night.and damb the biccie,not biccies,was nutz!
Oliver Lieb,Dave Clark<--that was CRAZY!!! :) Nico,Westbam....Joe Beltrum.Lenny Dee<--Hardcore full ball! UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE!!! oh my god.Now that was just fantastic.
Man i could be here forever.Way too many good great totally unreal times ive had going raving.
But i do have to mention a crew that used to put parties on in 94/95.They where called, D*CHO-ZEN*PHEW and they had a tendency to but on small almost word of mouth parties in warhouses and theyd play nothing but thumping hardcore.
My favouret party id have to say was put on by them.No interntionals,the flyer was just a coloured photo copy of a picture and all the details.It was,COOL POWER-A Winters Xmas Party in July.Near the crn Sturt & Grants St,Sth Melb.When u got to the crn there was no party to be seen apart from the soft sound of happy hardcore leaking from somewhere.Was the coolest thing having to find where the music was coming from.It was a very old disused warehouse that had uneven concret floor.Still they knew how to give the placess a nice lil'rave look.That night will go down,has gone down in mine and the friends of mine who attended as one of the stand out night of parting.Theres nothing like rocking up to a party in winter and everybody is dressed up all christmasravey and there banging out Happy HardCore Xmas carols.No shit,Everything from Rudolf to Ginggle bells where all remixed to happy hardcore.It was ace.
i could go on and on,but i wont,was just nice to think about it all again.Oh and the 1st summerdayz,i have to say was cool.After a night out at Kryle on 3 green mitzos,get back to melb in the morning.get offerd a jelly bean.look at the jellibeans on the coffee table at a friends house,eat a purple jelly bean and go 2 summerdays.An hour passes at summerdays and when i thought,man i should be buggerd now,i realised that the jelly bean i ate actually was a Purple Biccie,so where all the other jelly beans! :)
Everytime,well almost everytime was a defining moment,even the crap parties like Sven Vath at Hardware?? at shed 14.Cause we had such a fun time in the car park convincing the police we didnt have drugs,apart from the chooph they made us spill cause they sceared the shit out of us with there torches and there yelling.LOL

Well the two rave moments that really stand out I was actually straight during both of them, and if anyone knows what I'm like, that's very hard to accept.
1. Still new to pills, parties... went to a friends house party, an old friend I ran into who I knew was into raves and I started chatting about stuff. She says she's going to Atmosphere after the party and I should come by. So I do.
End up at CBD on Hardware Lane, no idea how, or what or where. Some chick called Bexta is playing. I go upstairs and find my friends, we chat and dance for a while. I ask her if she can get me a pill, she says yeah... just wait a minute.
I'm sitting down on the side of the dancefloor while my friend runs off to hook me up and I'm watching everyone's feet at below knee level. I'm pretty happy because I know I'm going to be dropping a pill (probably my fourth ever I think) and I'm sitting there enjoying the atmosphere (no pun intended).
Then the song that's playing sort of kicks up a gear and from my eye level, all I can see is about fifty pair of legs stomp in time to the music and the energy of the people in that room just blew me away. Maybe it was MDMA leaking into the air but I smiled like an idiot at that moment and thought... this is all pretty cool.
I got my pill about an hour later and ended up having one of the most incredible nights of my life. What I wouldn't give to be new to it all again.
2. After a big night at Welcome 2002, turning up to Summerdayze the next day straight after a few hours sleep. Finding my sister ten metres from the front during Basement Jaxx. Me, my sister, two of my favorite people in the world and twenty thousand people off their heads.. it was so much fun (the picture's in my profile) :D
Then after an hour and half of Jaxx we run out of water so we slowly make our way out of the massive Myer Music Bowl pit, pushing past thousands of people and then as we're about to exit the main dance area, hearing the opening chords of the Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams'. Thousands of people started screaming and I think I was one of them. I turned to my friend and said, "there's no way we're leaving right now".
 
Hoptis: I was reading the latest posts to this thread and was just turning away to walk into the kitchen as I caught your mention of Sweet Dreams. I actually just realed back in the seat with the hugest smile on my face, cranking out the lyrics.. I was there with ya man... So amazing :)
 
I've just read the entire thread start to finish.
Rather then list the defining moments in my rave life I'd rather say I couldnt list the amount of defining moments raves brought to my own life if that makes any sense.
The power of music... the joy of people.. the energy of the moments I've shared. Reading this makes me simply want to explode with the joy I take in being alive.
Hearing the Prophet - walking through the forest of mt Disappointment on acid for the first time - screaming at 10,000 people - hugging a stranger and screaming my lungs out at a dj ..
I dont think I wouldnt have found this part of myself without raves, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the lengths to which I have explored, experienced and enjoyed wouldnt be even slightly reached without them.
People, drugs, events, dj's and music may all fade into dust - but the times I've had make me the person I am. Just wanted to share :)
 
1st rave Mystic 5 in Liverpool, first pill also, i remember sitting up the back int eh massive bleachers they had, in this totally alien environment (i was fairly new to the music also) just wondering wtf i was doing here at 1:30am (i dont live anywhere near liverpool)
So im sitting up there next to a good mate of mine who was used to this sort of party, and we were just watching the lazers dance around on the backs of ppl and my mate was off chops and talking codshit and as i watched the lazers and heard the music and talked to my mate i let go of all teh anxiety and negativity i was feeling and welcomed the change, and thats how i came up on my first pill.
Very special.
Another special moment was arriving at Utopia September 2001, which was my first big party, and walking into the main arena (which, due to it being 10:00 was fairly empty at the time), and just being dumbfounded with the enormity of it all (and i was stone cold sober) and the spectical.
And one last one (gawd there are so many) was at Muzikal Kloudz 1 in October 2001, where i got my first taste of good hard trance, and my first taste of a little smaller style rave. Anyway i danced all night, non stop till 7:00am I couldnt stop dancing, the room was stupidly crowded and dangerously hot, the lazers were small but powerfull and the vibe was awsome. That night was probably the closest i have been as far as just loosing myself in the music and dancing hard without a care :D
This thread is fun, its nice to go down memory lane :)

Firstly Flip and Space Frog i hate you both because i believe that seeing the Prophet live would top anything in my life thus far...COME WITH ME!!!

Meeting my beautiful wife, we met in the chill room, I was off my chops in a lounge chair and she started massaging my head. We got married 6 months later and we are coming up on our second anniversary. Now that's what I call hooking up in a club.

I don't think i could really pin point a specific moment - there have been too many small moments that have really added up - there's nothing that really stands out...
... although, at my first ever rave (it was also my first MDMA experience) i remember i was just happily going along in my own little world, when someone dressed as a really strange looking fairy came up to me and said "That's right - you just keep on floating - don't ever let anyone stop you..." at the time it was the coolest thing anyone had ever said to me, and it made sense too (although i think i took it to a much deeper level to that which it was intended originally)...
 
Lol, that used to be cool when ppl said suff like that to you....now it just shits me haha.
I remember some dude at Transatlantic came up to me and was like "that's right man, just dance, move your arms and don't care if anyone is watching"
I was like...o.......k.......
I then proceeded to dance my liil ass off harder than ever before and i think he realised that i was far from new to it haha...
 
I have so many moments, that there isnt really one specific defining moment as i keep thinking ive taken it as far as it can go but then at the next party something amazing will happen and ill go to a level beyond....
My first rave, first pill @ Kryal castle Adventjah 2001 i just remember watching the sun come up, and watching the main arena go harder than ever before, and spotting INSOMNIA thru the crowd, and running up to him giving him the biggest tightest hug ever!
Also same party i got 'the vibe' (quote "The Castle")i was just walking around and i could feel 'it' in the air, i spose i was just amazed at the way thousands of people could just be happy :) oh...the first time....
The next "moment" i had was at War of the Worlds 2038 coming up to the intense tribal drums of WetMusik,seeing forshaw drop the evil "cheerleader" song,being blown away by richie hawtin and heckmann's 16 minute amphetatmine (dont remember this but been told about it) and then having an awesome party night where i did not sit down once, spoke to dozens of randoms and was involved at some point in a group hug shouting "Vicks is good!"
Ok i've only got a few left...
Then at Welcome 2003, when the clock hit midnight, telling my boyfriend that i loved him for the first time and having the closest and most intimate hug ever....
(And seeing CJ Bolland play phophet live too - he he *crosses off list* - copies hardicus)
and standing at the top of vodaphone arena watching thousands of people dance and be engulfed by lasers....
Hardware Universe @ Kryal 2003, hearing sven vath play "Black Diamonds" and being so euphoric and overwhelmed with happiness that i seriously believed that i was going to explode from being so happy....
The most recent one....meeting dumonde, well meeting DeLion anyway and having him kiss my hand :P and hearing "I don't wanna be alone...be alone" after i asked him to play it....

feb 1996: when i went to my first rave. the brain back in Auckland.
sept 1998: When i arrived in sydney and discovered Sublime (when it was still on pitt st)
still the place of alot of great memories.
eckythump feb 2002: where i truely felt the love for the first time.

Defining moment? going through dogah's pants looking for his little baggie and all the pills that had fallen out and having a pic taken by a guy with a phone-camera thing. With my hand buried down his pants. Me? Give up this scene?

I cant decide whether hearing Prophet live is better than asking CJ himself to play it and him playing it for me? im not sure :)
