    Welcome Guest!

Comedowns, Serotonin Syndrome and MDMA abuse (plus problems after use)

The other thing I was thinking is that maybe the drugs awoken some sort of underlying anxiety problem that I had and possibly made it worse? I feel like all my problems stem from anxiety. Any tips on how to maybe beat that anxiety?

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience following your use of MDMA.

To start off, I'll just say that drugs can indeed have an impact on ones mental health, regardless of whether or not they are predisposed to any problems. However, it does strike me as odd that after what seems like fairly sensible use, such a problem was triggered. I don't really think it helps to speculate why the MDMA caused your problems however, but rather on resolving them now.

Anxiety can cause a huge range of symptoms. It's certainly the case that tinnitus & bruxism (jaw clenching) can be caused by it.

The most obvious things you can do to help, are quite often the small things. Eating a healthy, varied diet. Exercising. Learning some coping mechanisms.

As far as the jaw clenching goes, that is something I suffered from myself with anxiety actually progressing to point of getting a sore jaw. Personally, I found that supplementing with some magnesium helped to alleviate it & now I have coping mechanisms for my anxiety, it's never come back. The best type of magnesium to supplement with is chelated. You don't need to take a lot & before bed is best.

If you'd like to hop over to the mental health sub-forum (link in my sig), you'll find a lot of people with experience & advice to offer.

You might find some useful information in this thread somewhere: Anxiety Disorders MEGA thread. Also I find some basic understanding of cognitive thinking errors, can help highlight where your thoughts are getting the better of you.

Lastly, I'd just like to finish with a quote, which I think speaks for itself...

*edit* - Although I suggest trying magnesium, I think talking to your dentist about it is a smart move too.

If your bipolar, I'd recommend against MDMA. MDMA impacts serotonin, which plays a big role in the disorder. After MDMA, depression can occur. This effect may be amplified if you already are bipolar. If you suffer from bipolar and are currently taking medication, I highly recommend just sticking to weed. If you get to a point where your head is completely clear without the medication, and you are in a better mental place, then maybe you could reconsider. However, serious drugs are probably a bad idea right now.

As to serotonin syndrome, it's very difficult to say.
I can't smoke weed, I had a bad experience. And I have to do some drug or else I'll fall apart. That's not debatable.

First of all Chatative, thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my post.

I have read that magnesium supplementing is great for the clenching and grinding. How much do you recommend taking and do you have a specific brand that you use? I tend to order things off of Amazon or Bodybuilding. Not sure if you can post links to products but that would help. I will definitely try that and also bring that up to my dentist. I have an appointment in 2 days to see him.

I do eat a pretty clean diet, lots of whole grains, veggies and high quality proteins. Lots of avocados and I supplement with a great multi vitamin and fish oils daily. I work out 3-4 days a week and that all has helped me tremendously. Just basically the ear ringing and clenching/grinding, and underarm sweating is all the problems that still persist. I know it's anxiety but I don't feel anxious so it's hard for me to understand how to beat it or alleviate it.

You mention coping mechanisms for your anxiety and it hasn't returned? May I ask you to elaborate on that? What are some coping mechanisms that you use or work for you. I would definitely be willing to give that a try.

Thanks again

This might seem like a stupid question, but are you wearing sufficient hearing protection? While I often have some ringing after MDMA use, so it can be considered quite normal, it might just be that you exposed your ears to too loud music. Anxiety after MDMA use is also quite normal yeah, it will pass. Some good advice has been given already, nothing further to add really :D

Blacked out after taking "MDMA"

I made a fatal error for the first time and bought a untested pill in a club (don't need any lectures I know I'm an idiot but I was tipsy). Anyway, around 10-15 minutes after taking the whole pill I started to come up. (Going through intense stage and felt euphoria). About approximately half an hour I completely blacked out in the club and "came back alive" around 6 hours later in my bed. I don't even have the slightest memory of what happened that night and if it wasn't for my good friends in scared to tbink whah could of happened as apparently I was proper messed up. I had a little to drink but nothing major, just a little tipsy. Does anyone have any idea what this could of been or what happened ?

TLDR: took a whole untested pill in a club and blacked out completely and remember nothing at all.

Sounds pretty scary!! No one can tell you anymore than you already know and confirm. Absolutely no one could hazard a guess as to what you took. Take it easy get plenty of rest see a doctor if you have any adverse after effects. Take it that you got of lucky to appear in your own bed and conscious.

You might want to try Lyrica (Pregabalin) and see if that doesnt calm your cravings. It SHOULDNT have a bad interaction with Latuda

Is latuda an SSRI or MAOI? Only MAOI anti depressants can cause serotonin syndrome. You should stop taking SSRIs too cause they will block you from rolling.

That's not true at all.

You can get serotonin syndrome by combining SSRIs with MAOIs and I think you can also get it from combining SSRIs with very heavy serotonin releasers, though I could be wrong about the latter.

I'm on 60 mg of Latuda and am going to do a tiny bit of MDMA. I'm so scared that something bad is going to happen.

You are scared that something bad is going to happen but are still going to do something that is very likely to make something bad happen and are asking us to tell you that something bad won't happen??

Don't you see how that's not very rational??

Try a drug that won't interact badly with your medication.

MAOI's stop the breakdown of neurotransmitters. It's the catalyst that causes serotonin syndrome if you combine it with ecstasy, an SSRI or even Robitussin with DXM.

That's a warning. Your on the verge of a terrible ltc if you don't stoop now. Happened to me. Had headaches and ignored and kept using on wknds. Now three years later still dealing with headaches and a few other symptoms

Most headaches are vascular in origin, and most of the headache medications work on serotonin receptors that line the walls of the blood vessels. She is probably having issues with serotonin activation on the blood vessel walls leading to constriction of these blood vessels. I don't believe depletion of serotonin is at fault here.

Headaches can be a big source of chronic pain, I'd really advise a lot of caution on these slippery slopes. If headaches continue let me know and I can recommend a medication.

Ergotamine is a classic one that works by narrowing the blood vessels (psilocybin/LSD provide relief of cluster headaches via this mechanism), if that doesn't work then propranolol works well for vascular migraine (dilates arteries instead) and is a common medication, Sarpogrelate works pretty much the exact opposite way of MDMA and is used for vascular migraine, these all are pretty benign medications but when you don't respond to those I'd say it's time to try Depakote if this migraines are really driving you nuts. It's also important to look at things like sleep apnea and sleep issues. There is a big connection between migraines and sleep apnea and MDMA has been shown to cause sleep apnea. Sorry for your troubles :( do you have other symptoms as well?

Also I should mention probably the most frequent cause of headaches if musculoskeletal in origin. MDMA + jaw clenching leads to this. So it might not be vascular and you might need a more neuropathic pain type treatment like Gabapentin / depakote along with physical therapy or Botox.
