    Welcome Guest!

Comedowns, Serotonin Syndrome and MDMA abuse (plus problems after use)

Unfortunately everything I've read suggests low doses of MDMA will actually have the opposite of the desired effect, instead making you restless and a little anxious if anything.

Sometimes when I'm rolling very hard I get a very calm feeling like I'm almost in a hypnotic state. Is that the sensation you believe would be close to that of a benzo?

Ok. They're very very different as I'm sure you've read. Benzos, how I understand them, act chemically very similar to alcohol in your body neurologically. MDMA, how I've been taught, floods your brain with a different type of chemical through different means than what benzos do.

Once used 40 mg mdma as a study aid and worked quite well because low dose is more stimulating and not so heavy on serotonin, well at least it felt like this. This was with 84 % pure mdma, but i only did this because i desperately needed a stimulant so i could stay awake and caffeine is no option for me makes me just anxious and after a certain point it doesnt even keep me awake anymore, but i really would do this only as a one timer when theres really no other option because mdma is just too toxic with long term use and will fuck your brain up but in this sitution it really worked well and i got a good mark

I'm wondering if this is a myth or not.

Mdma is potent 5hta2b Agonist ,such agonists are very toxic on the heart, googe fenfluramine if you dont believe me.It also is heavy on SERT which will deplete serotonin and serotonin takes a long time to build up againand with subsequent doses your brain wont even start to build it up because it takes 3 days in average after a mdma dose to start recovering serotonin again.Once its fully depleteted(not to 100 % because your brain always needs some serotonin or you will die but your levels will be significantly lower)it will go more on dopamin, but with an very toxic mechanism which will permanently kill your dopamin cells(well not permanently but it will take many years to recover from that and its unlikely you will ever reach 100% of yourself again) and will fuck your cognition and even your movements, but even with low serotonin you will get heavily depressed like you cant even imagine
So no its not a myth, just read the thread mdma recovering stories and you will see the consequences of daily mdma use

I thought you might of had some insightful knowledge :)

I wouldn't. MDMA is completely different and has a much more powerful negative impact on your brain, if done multiple times a day every day. To be honest, I feel that if you take like 125mg of benedryl and then take a dab or smoke a joint it will satisfy your problem and put you to sleep.

I actually dated a chick for a little while who would take multiple small amounts of MDMA throughout the day, every day... similar to what you're describing. But I attribute her daily usage to an addiction (is molly even addictive? wtf right?) rather than an honest attempt at self medicating. She actually seemed pretty put together and you would never guess that she's on MDMA all the time. She seemed really normal to me. But I guess she was using really small amounts all day. I'm sure it's a bad idea, but honestly after my experiences with benzo's and helping my girlfriend with her taper, I'm becoming really jaded toward benzo's and I'd be curious as well if there's any merit in this approach.

Terrible idea. You can't use MDMA like this. MDMA might not be 'proven' to be neurotoxic but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's not doing anything particularly good for your brain and should be treated with respect. The last scientific paper I read on it concluded that although they couldn't find any specific neurotoxic effects relating to SERT (this is what they were looking at) there were persistent anxiety-like effects noted for some time after the doses wore off, and this is at normal doses. So it is evident that some kind of anxiety-inducing brain change is occurring but we have yet to narrow down exactly how this occuring.

So then why are so many intelligent people (like MAPS) into this dumb drug? I propose something called the rule of thumbprint: if it can't be used completely excessively without inherent adverse effects, don't use it.

MAPS are into it because it hardly has any adverse effects of you administer it at a proper dose, a few times, spaced weeks or months apart, and then cease use. Which is how their trials work. The dangers of MDMA come from high doses or high frequency of use or both.

No it will cause damage over time. Just like rolling 200mg every wekend. If you want an alternative to benzos, and don't mind a physical dependance, I reccomend tramadol. Dose 100mg 2-3x a day. It doesn't get you high but puts you in a good mood. It's cheap and easy to get prescribed. Honestly tramadol is preferred by me over benzos as benzos make me not only non anxious, but also not give a fuck about anything, whereas tramadol makes me confident and content. It feels "natural" not really a high tho
