Can we have a thread here to discuss the current lounge rules?

Where is the confusion? You say you understand there needs to be some structure, so when some is implemented you say your creativity--and I use that term very loosely--is being stifled and the rules are bullshit.

So you're ok with some structure as long as it isn't affecting you? Is that right?

No. I just don't want to see The Lounge end up like Aussie Social like Zephyr said or where people are warned and punished for posting harmless pictures (I do acknowledge I was wrong for whoring the images I did for the record) or joking playfully (I do realize it does need to be toned down however) with others.

It won't end up like Aus Social because I won't let it happen.

CG: the tone of my last post was inappropriate. Sorry. The argument still stands, however.

I think you're making this thread out to be specifically about you, whereas it isn't just about you. You'd posted in here several times before anyone mentioned your name.

We're pretty much hopelessly derailed now, but it would be good to hear, from those who object to the new rules, some suggestions about what the rules should be.

Not a problem bro. You have the right to express how you feel.

I have to disagree with you on making this thread specifically about me. I did post here before anyone mentioned my name because I had an opinion and wanted to share. I was provoked on a previous page and then I was further provoked in a Reported Post thread. Trust me when I say the last thing I wanted was this thread to be about me. I very much don't enjoy this stuff...

I'd say your repeated posting of images after being asked on numerous occasions to cool it is a great example of poor behavior.
but is it worthy of a whole new set of cryptic rules after he finished doing it?

please.

Everything has a catalyst.

The old set of rules were unorganized and ancient. These new ones are merely the old ones slightly updated and more organized. Nothing has really changed here, so I don't see why everyone is getting so upset.

unfortunately, unless there is open discussion, it is about him. him and 9mm. who else could they even be talking about? bc i am pulling at strings trying to come up with anyone who even resembles trollish behavior....and even then, i don't think they do. unless you count in the few sillies who acquired avatars to show their support, but that didn't last long, and as l2r said, this was new behavior they are supposedly discussing, though i don't have a clue what the fuck they are talking about. if it is that unnoticeable, what is the deal?

So... have we decided if it's possible to polish a turd?
no it isn't. so we are basically all wasting our time.

the lounge is the big turd we all shit in, why try to fool ourselves?

I say get rid of the lounge. Save some space on the HD(s).

There are a lot of people that you could label a troll that are regulars in the lounge. Some people continually post downright mean things about people, and I guess that is ok, but a few jpgs is an outrage.

What some people call trollish, others call hilarious. If you humour is not appreciated by "the manz" your a troll, if "the manz" think your funny, or provide you with sexual favors or whatever, then your all good.

Perspective is everything.

I'm just going to jump in and remind everyone that Bluelight is not a democracy.
Yeah but unlike a country where people live, if you make this place suck, people can just leave.

Without members, BL is nothing. Don't forget that.

Sorry, CG, I meant doomed to the same cycle.

The Lounge does not define Bluelight, its existence or its mission. Without The Lounge, Bluelight still exists. Remember that. Wouldn't it be logical then to restructure The Lounge to be more in harmony with the rest of the site? I believe so. Adopting the attitude that a site/forum will not be able to function without you or the like is not healthy, either for you or for the forum.

Sorry if you didn't understand what I was talking about, but in the context of the post I was replying to, I was trying to rebuke the notion, that "the manz" that run a site, do so with absolute and total control. They do have control, and power. But if they abuse the power and the people leave, there is no one to control them.

Any _community_ that wishes to live long and prosper needs to have "the manz" listen to the people, and work to find a common ground between "the manz" having power and control, and the people getting what they want.

"The manz" have the power, and the control to run the site, they have the responsibility to maintain the site for the members, and they have the ability to run the site into the ground.

No one wants that.

If you read the rules, you will see that there are steps to take if you feel that you are being treated unfairly.

can you point out any examples of abuse of power in the lounge?

9mm, as already stated, The Lounge is not The Site. Not on this site, not on any other site on the web.
I don't know how to make you understand what I am saying, but you either can't grasp what I am trying to communicate, or are talking about something very different.

The lounge is part of the site.

If I wanted to look for it, I could probably pull up something, but I dont want to. There is enough shit hitting the fan as it is.

Screw you guys. Screw you all. I had several key points I wished to bring up and you guys stole my keyboard.

Most of us on staff can still hear the echoes from the last time someone was in power and used it in an absolute manner, without regard to members or staff or anything that might be harmed by that heavy hand. That hand, in fact, drove out a LOT of the older generation who held forums like the LOUNGE to a higher decorum than it currently holds. But my point is that this thread could have been swept under the carpet, or scuttled to a private staff corner - it hasn't, because we do recognize that the needs of the members should be kept in mind when regarding site or forum policy. 9mm's point stands.

But at the end of the day, the LOUNGE is a byproduct of the site, and can be eliminated or reformatted by "the manz" if it interferes with the site's needs and goals overall. Yes, keeping the members happy is part of it, but the overall site is more important. To say that people can avoid the LOUNGE if they don't like it, that pummeling n00bs and derailing or assraping threads should be acceptable if the members in there want it .... no. There is a level of decorum (sorry, SA, I think you worded it too well for me not to steal), which this site needs to maintain. If the LOUNGE or any other forum detract from that in a way that would interfere with our goals, then quite frankly the members who desire that sort of internet interaction can go elsewhere. This site is here for HR, and the LOUNGE is intended to meet the needs of the members for non-drug social interaction. This site is not here to host the turd of the internet, using HR as a financial crutch to host such banter.

Listening to the members, that's why the thread is still open. Trying to reach a medium where member needs are met but the forum falls under the umbrella of the site appropriately, that is why staff and members are sharing their thoughts.
