i do contribute. i give free legal information to people. my comment was not confined to lounge whores or lounge regulars, many of whom do contribute, but to the fact that the fundamental purpose of the lounge has changed and that these mega-lounge drama situations seem to occupy the staff and organization of this board a lot more than they used to. the lounge situation has also squeezed socializing among other contributing members into the substantive forums. i don't know that this is a good thing.
 
so you are saying that it is a problem stemming from those who observe and not those who participate?



and fwiw, i appreciate your advice, i was commenting under the assumption you were disregarding the participation of others which i found distasteful. i am sorry for the misunderstanding and the rude tone.

oh and.. just my thoughts.. but if you don't participate in the lounge (but you used to) why do you care what goes on in it? that's a general question. i used to read drug culture, but now i don't, and as a result i don't care what goes on in it.

Since you did pull the mom card, DM...

If a bunch of kids did come and take over a somewhat civilised playground and turned it into absolute bedlam, a point would be reached when either the prior occupants or even simply neighbours, visitors and passers by would intervene and give those hooligans a choice of 1) remain and behave, or 2) GTFO.

As a mom, you should understand. As a mom, if some hooligans* took over your kids' civil playground, I really can't imagine you telling your kids to quit whining and go play by the new hooligan rules or not play at all.

Would you like to try another example? *blows big raspberry at DarthMom* =D ;)

* I'm using "hooligan" in a figurative way, to get a point across, nothing more.
 
If the kids are behaving like monsters, don't reward them with 'lounge whore' awards, and don't give them mod titles

Somewhat civilized? How can you say that given the topics of discussion that were in that forum well before certain people started posting. The Lounge isn't a serious forum like other forums.

And turning it into absolute bedlam? Like I said given the majority of posts and immature threads, shitting in the so to say Lounge is like shitting in an ocean of shit. An no offense to The Lounge when i say that because I love the forum and its occupants.
 
rc, finder is the admin for the lounge and is therefore looking after it's contents falls under one of his responsibilites.


i've backed out of this debate. my thoughts have been expressed, and i keep coming back to check for suggestions, of which there have been few.


for the moment, the lounge moderating is proceeding as it currently is, and this shall continue until any further developement is worked in that is within our means to implement.

i don't mean to sound like i'm not discussing. i am all ears for advice and/or suggestions.

but unless there is something going on that i am unaware of, i.e. the silly memes that were rehashed over and over....then this is all overblown.

any false instigations of hatred of noobs isn't anything that is new nor done by those who are being attacked.

and aside from that, those who claim to want to be a part of the lounge don't bother posting there EVER. so it is hard to take their opinion into consideration.

And it just boggles me when people take The Lounge seriously and complain over stuff like a few harmless .jpegs and playful harassment of each other when we got threads like this floating around. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with threads like this, I'm just saying things shouldn't be taken so seriously in there.

If you get right down to brass tacks the entire Lounge should be nuked from orbit just to be sure, given the impression Greenlighters, FBI, DEA, and the general population would get from a majority of threads inside there. And thats without threads such as the one you just posted not being in there L2R. I don't understand how harmless fun be it on anyones part, qualifies as an outrage in a not so serious forum.
 
the difference between the thread you posted and the one i posted is that the "do you like the smell of your own vagina" thread instigated lounge wide participation in nine pages of silly hilarity, whereas "my power level is proper!" is only understood by a select few regulars and it only provokes mundane image and short, repetative retort posts. The only post in that entire thread that was good was DarthMom's, which was great, but it was off topic and had nothing to do with anything.

the damage threads like yours causes are, as i've stated earlier and in other threads and pms, they alienate those who are not part of your small group.
 
Then maybe Appreciation Threads should be banned. Those alienate people who don't know a particular Bluelighter.
 
Maybe the Limecat Thread should be closed. Some people might cry over not knowing what the fuck that creature is.
 
no. those thread aren't pointless rants like yours can be.

rants are generally closed and referred to the journal. why should you be any different?
