This debate about IRC is kinda irrelevant given that there are max 40 people ever in there, and 10 people at once max chatting at any time. I spend a lot of time there, and answer questions when they arise.
Debating about the nature of IRC isn't really getting us anywhere - IRC is always more sarcastic and raw than normal life conversations anyway... People seem to have a far more extroverted personality online because they speak from a comfort zone, namely shielded behind a computer. Also, people are generally quicker to react because they don't understand the tone of the conversation, as its difficult to convey emotion in text.
I thought this thread was more about the image of bluelight being confused with the image of the bluelight posters in the (mostly rave scene) community?
