^ hahah looks like a great time! I just went and got my permit again from the DMV. Going to make my "behind the wheel" test appointment right now.

I really should take the MSC but for some reason I am just too lazy. Everybody I talk to though, even people with 25 + years experience say that they learned a ton and would recommend it to anyone.

^^

+1 :)

That weekend was pretty awesome...it's a shame though that there weren't really that many people my age, most of the group was of my parents age. I guess that doesn't matter when your flying down the road at 60 mph though!

It was funny though because I really haven't thought about how long I have been riding until someone asked me at the rally. It turns out that I have been a biker mama for 8 years now...time flys when you are having fun!

We have another rally planned for the fall during the foliage season. It should be the fucking AWESOME!! I can't wait.

damien. if you're too much of a pansy to pass your bike test, at least have a look at the facey pastey thread in the lounge. 8) my one of you took me 3 pieces of gold. :\

I think I am going to join a women's motorcycle club there is one in my area.

From the pictures they have posted from past events most of the women look older. It's so hard to find people my own age to ride with, especially other girls.

I dream to belong to a womens biker gang! =D I'm not sure I could wear the outlaw hat though.

Just got back from day 2 of my 3-day licensing course in NYS....successful completion gets the road test waived.

gonna have my license :p gonna have my license :p gonna have my license :p

EXCELLENT!

Depending on where you are in NY we could definitely plan a ride. I'm only about an hour from the NY border :)

that makes no sense. why would you get your road test waived??? 8o
The course instructors are the road testers. They conduct a test similar to that on a standard motorcycle road test, so if you pass the written and skills test of the 3-day course, the NYS road test is waived. Put it this way, on Friday night I had never really ridden a bike before, and by this afternoon, I was a veritable speed demon. =D

In any event, I passed today and will be getting the paperwork in a week or two to get that "M" on my driver's license.

And thanks PFF. I'll look into the Suzukis as well before I buy, and then we'll hook up some road trips!

YAHOO!

Thanks, felix. I'm a pretty happy guy now, but don't worry, it'll probably wear off in a day or two... ;)

no chance! what kind of suzukis will you be looking at?

the proper ones, i hope. ;)
Oh hell, I dunno. They're definitely more expensive than the Kawasakis, so maybe I'll just be "reasonable" and get a Vulcan 500 for ~$4500, new 2008, and when I'm making a lot more $$ 2-3 years from now, start adding to my "collection."

I know that a ZX6 would be insane and I would definitely kill myself or end up in jail with license revoked, so I will let calmness and collectedness reign for the time being... :)

For now just something with a bit of power to get me economically to work, some lazy cruises through the Taconic Parkway, and take my 8-year-old on some fun rides--he'll be stoked riding a bike with his pappy.

Im planing on getting a Harley V-Rod NightRod anyonne have any useful info?

It will be my first bike but I have been riding motocross and atvs for 3 years or so.

Interesting looking bike, but it really doesn't suit my tastes. I've also become partial to all these made Japanese! :) It's become apparent with cars that I have owned and both bikes that I have owned that the Japanese just know how to make some fantastic machinery!

My first suggestion, definitely go to the dealer and have a nice long seat on the bike. Especially if you are going to drop around $15,000+ on a bike!

Why does it have to rain like every single freaking weekend?

And the rain prevents me from riding to work because of the "chance of showers" forecast that our weather people "predict" every single day.

*hrmph*
