BL Poker Tournament: Weds 18 Feb 8pm - details in 1st post

i know that, but i had to put money back into my real account to make it above zero so i could actually live. I kept $4 in pokerstars so ill try and make that up to $11 by wednesday, if i cant then im not in unless someone wants to stake me, i have come 2nd both times now, if someone pays for my entry ill give them 50% of the winnings

Hahaha, so just because you don't like something makes it the wrong strategy!! Sometimes it's better not to raise, and let the weaker hands get a little bit stronger, and a bit cockier.

But if you stick to one type of playing, you'll never win anything. It's all about variation.

I didn't say it was the wrong strategy. I said I wasn't a fan of slow playing.

I don't need a lecture on how to play poker TheKid, when playing at the stakes we're playing at with a bunch of amateurs (lets be fair none of us are pros) playing a solid, steady game often works wonders. So it didn't work last game but it's paid off in many other tourneys I've played. And let's not forget you didn't win mate, so until you've proved yourself as the kind of the tourneys, sush. ;)

Played a MTT yesterday, my strategy was to go All In pre-flop whenever I had the following cards in the hope I'd get a call and double up:

AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, AK.

Worked wonders early on, had plenty of hands and doubled up a few times to take me well into the lead but unfortunately my luck ran out and ended up getting outdrawn a few times and crashing out before the money.

On Wednesday I'll be happy to take all your money. Mugabe can't beleive your begging for cash. :D

Consistent? We've had 2 tournaments, it means fuck all. It may or may not have been pure luck so far.

mugabe sounds like you have a gambling problem. you probably want to either nip that in the bud, or get very good a gambling :)

Replace the word genuis with the following "deluded gambling addict" and you've hit the nail on the head. ;)

If your so good turn that $4 into $11 and you won't need to beg us for cash. :D

i actually withdrew my winnings (profit) to help me in the real world. I just left a couple of dollars in the account to see if my skills could bring it up again. I havnt tried yet but i will later, or tommorow.

AK is called Anna Kounikova for a reason........:)

haha, quality. i love poker patter. always called ace king "big slick".

"colin murray" is the best name for a hand iv heard, i cant fuckin remember what hand it is tho, i think it might be ace nine (apparently one of my mates was watching late night poker & colin murray said it was his favourite hand)

$10 tourney. 8 get paid. 9 left, there's a real short stack. I was leading, now I'm down in 3rd. I get AA in SB. Villain who has been playing hyper-agressive raises. I re-raise. He calls. Flop is KQ9. I bet. He calls. Flop is J. I go all-in. He calls, shows me A9, and hits his two-outer on the river. I go out in 9th. (8th is $30, but I would have had nearly double the chips of the second player if I'd won). I'd played solid, tight, sensible poker all game, and I go out like that, to someone who was a huge underdog on every street. Grrrraaggghghgagsfdh!

[Sorry, bad beat stories are boring, I know, but I need to vent even though no-one will read this]

Hahha, i've never heard of a Colin Murray.

My favourite is Siegfried and Roy.

Poker isn't about luck, it's a game of skill. Such a tactic as you described from your recent MTT has no place in a real players game.

Don't forget i've beaten you both times we've played......I came third in our tourney because I got too cautious and also lost concentration (which often happens, especially if i drink).

I read it but ZzZzZzz! :p

Are you in on Wednesday IJ?

There may be some skill in poker but without luck you've got no chance. You need a certain amount of luck to win a game.

Just as well I wasn't playing in a real players game then but a $1.20 buy in with a bunch of mongos on the internet.

Give it a rest will ye. You're doing my nut in with your pish, you'ld think you were Doyle Brunson or something. What's with all the excuses too. :p

Small amount of luck. Or are all the top pros just very lucky people????

Hahah, that's fair enough then. I don't like playing with complete mongos, as they are too random.

Not Doyle Brunson, just the Spade-killa. :)

Never heard of the Sklansky method? Got someone who'd basically never played before to the 3rd day of the WSOP.

It was: fold everything preflop, except: if you're first into the pot, go all-in with any pair, AK, suited aces or med-high suited connectors. If someone else is in the pot, raise all-in with AA, KK or AK, otherwise fold. But don't play the first 3 or 4 blind levels. You make so much from fold equity that it's worthwhile.

4% chance of winning and that idiot calls me.....:X!

read that in his book, stupid method though considering the odds of a premium hand.

His protegy was lucky to get that far to be honest.

Main Event? It's a crap shoot these days though. Plus did they get paid?

Have you read "The Professor, The Banker and The Suicide King"?
