BL Musos UNITE!

Its funny coz initially when I opened this thread I didnt consider myself a 'muso' of any real sort....
However I've been playing the flute since I was 4yrs old (got up to grade5 level before I got really peeved with the music examination process) and I played that in my high school band from grade 5 till year 11. After that I'd randomly play at events that people asked me to.. unfortunately playing the flute isnt really an 'in demand' passtime as it has a pretty limited scope, unlike most other general instruments (brass, guitar, piano etc).
Also since I was about 5yrs old I have been singing my lungs out heh. From my first ever public appearance singing 'Animal Crackers In My Soup' and 'On The Good Ship Lollypop' infront of adoring fans at a church talent night the ripe age of 5... and I'm yet to live that down :D . Then my choirmaster insisted that I join the highschool choir when I was in year 9.. my favourite achievement was singing the opening solo to 'Joyful Joyful' (The Sister Act Version) when I was in yr12.
I'd love to get back into singing, as I loved it immensly when I was involved.. unfortunately I'm not as forthright about my singing as my friends were.. so they'd always get asked to do things instead. I have a pretty kickarse deep alto range, so its not really suited to the kinda of music my friends would sing anyways.

I don't have very much time so i can't post much but....
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS THREAD!!!
I play the drums in a band and i was beginning to think that the tentire world had gone crazy - i've been meeting all these people recently who have no passion for music whatsoever, so it's SOO refreshing to hear that there are likeminded people out there...
You also wouldn't believe how hard it is to find people to help complete the our band's line-up! We're looking for a lead guitarist and a synth player - we htought that finding these people would have been reasonably easy, seeing as everyone plays guitar (:P) however this is proving to be quite difficult... :\
The good thing is that as soon as i have my car we'll be out and gigging around Sydney - it's always been my dream to play in front of people who are there speciafically to hear us play, and well, sooner or later this has to happen, right? We're determined enough to get there - hell, this is the only thing i have stuck to in my entire life - 2 years and still running strong ( despite all the set backs along the way...)
W00T! to all the funkay musak! And W00T! to all the wonderful musically minded people out there! :D

Cosmic Mist: I wish you ALL the best in getting your band crankin :) If you keep in it for the love of the music then even if you don't 'succeed' in a traditional defintion of the word, you will still remain fulfilled.
Stacy: Your right, i don't really consider myself a 'muso' perse either but i couldnt think of any better title, heh :)
Ohh and to anyone out there who is interested in Adikkal rap, expect some collaborations with me and Shoelace in the near future. We had a bit of a rhyming session last nite and let me just say.... look out world ;)
Adikkal n Shoelace - sydneys hottest MC's!!! ;)
(i figured if i wanna get into this MC thing i gotta learn how to build this thing called an EGO!)

This is a great thread.
I've pretty much loved music most of my life.
I'm into DJing and was lucky enough to DJ at my first rave in October 2001 ("The first MK party in Sydney ;) ").
I'm currently just in to playing music and am into a large variety of music.Styles I play include: *Old Skool happyhard & hardcore
*Breaks
*Hip-Hop
*Trance,etc,etc..........
Check out my homepage on my profile for my full listing of styles and about myself as a DJ ("SHAMELESS PLUG,he,he,he,he........")
Suffice to say I have a passion for music and NOW a HUGE vinyl collection.I also have started writing rave reviews for a web site.
I'd love to hook up and play music with the other's here that also have a similar passion for music. If we put an event on in the future I would love to DJ at it :) .
I'd also like to write dance music with like minded people in the future.
A good person to chat to regarding writing dance music ("If that is what your into?") is Sydney DJ/Producer 'DJ Weaver'.He's a friendly guy and if you approached him at a party when he's free, he may give you tips on writing music. He's pretty approachable and it's something to think about I guess.
:) :) :)

ok, whilst i haven't decided that i'm definitely gonna get them (hope so though :) ), i'm getting keener and keener. but...are there any websites around that focus on dj equipment (turntables, mixers) in *australia*? i'm going to go and bother the nice people in central station (melb.) tomorrow, but i also wanted some reading material, and to check some of the prices out.
btw, biski, i searched for your thread, but there was nothing that i could see... :/ thanks though :)

Hey peoples!
I LOVE MUSIC! Mostly rock music but I also like techno and breakeats (that's why I am here), but I hate all the NRG/Hard House/Hard Trance shit that is permeating everywhere!
My question is, could anyone arrange a meetup with me for a swap of programs? I have Fruityloops 3.5.6 but I want to get Reason and all the other "good" programs that are apparently out there!
BTW, I am also a guitarist (classical and contemporary!) and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on stage/jazz/orchestra/ensembles that are looking for guitarists, cause I don't wanna just be in a 4 piece rock band!
Thanks,
OrbMan

you rock who ever started this...
If anyone in Melbourne is looking for a guitarist, i can try out for you. My influence is harder rock/punk. Been playing for about 3 to 4 years. Main influence...John Frusciante (his solo album's are soooo sweet)

Hah, thanx Stace, tis appreciated :)
Don't worry I will be gettin into this muzak thing as soon as i get back from holidaying with the parents on the Gold Coast, meanwhile, boredom means i will be writing lyrics.
And to all those who frequent this thread, you will be the 1st to hear any new Adikkal music, so, i dunno, that should be a reason to keep visiting! ;)
SPEAKING OF WHICH>>> New battle verse i recorded, funnily enough its part of a 3 verse text battle im havin with none other than sydneys rave mc, MC Losty, before long there will be a full and original song up for all to hear.

For the price of 2 SL1200s and a decent mixer, you could get probably 2 quality pieces of equipment. Djing sure is fun, but I find after you've gotten your beatmixing down pat the novelty wears thin fairly quick.
hmm, i just spotted this. thanks for the advice - although i think i'm probably more interested in messing around with turntables - do you have any links to info on these 'groove boxes'? :)
i know n0wt about them!
thanks..and *BUMP* this awesome thread again! :D

Yay for the Muso's!!! :)
With a Mum as a music teacher i grew up around every type of music.
Being a natural born singer myself (even got to go overseas on tour to sing)also playing piano and flute, but am very rusty now, I also share the passion that is music :)
Why do i not see Shoelace in this thread damn it???
He needs to write me a song so i can put some lyrics n stuff to it!!!
if any of you do evenually get together to create tunes, keep this thread posted....it could turn out to be quite interesting! :)
in a good way of course :)
