Too fucking right. Been getting bloody packed lately though, hopefully the colder weather will solve this.

^ +1 to Ambar- one of the few clubs worthwhile going to in Perth...I havent lived there in a little while but last I was there Ambar, Geisha and Heat were all pretty ok. Not sure what Heat is like now but last I was there the noise restrictions imposed by the bloody residents moving in to the nightclub district were killing it a bit.

These days Id not bother going clubbing unless itwas a special occassion. This granny is in retirement

*hobbles out of thread :(

I haven't been to a club I've been blown away by in a long time. Last one I went to was Berserk. Good crowd, decent music, venue's falling apart though.

I used to really like Plastic and A Night Of Trance, but Plastic is 'between venues' (maybe forever - it has been for some months) and ANOT has been on hold for a while too.

Subbies and famous!! at homebar!! goes off every week

Drinks are too expensive and they don't have any good beer anyway. Subbies tends to specialise in obnoxious music and it seems to rub off on its patrons. Fuck that shit, Home is overrated.

Australia's best dance club is out in the bush with a cranking sound system and a bunch of crazy hippies eating paper.

*thinking* *thinking* -->> most club's are shit in general imo. went to 3D one night they had metal on upstairs. That was pretty cool. Mostly i like going to events though -->> better music, better crowds, better venues..

Maybe i was just going to shit clubs but i noticed a trend everywhere id go. It'd be either a) full of 15 year olds b) everyone's too munted to even walk c) is full of pretensious snobs who take 4 hours to go to the bloody toilet.

Bass is the worst for the 15 year olds

i think they've sorted em out as my ears hurt when i went to Heat in Perth (it could have been the sound system being a bit shit too :\ ), it was a nice club, spent alot of the night outside waffling tho :)

+1

although the last time I went there was with you, and we couldn't even see straight, plus the line was massive =D

Im from Melbourne, in my opinion..
Bass is a fun happy crowd so it always rocks, and the djs are sick.
3d is not really for me.. too much g and anger that ive seen, but it's fun.
PHD is the best for hard tunes and dance, but theyre more over the bright clothes, phatts n kandy, and the venue is small n dodgy lookin.
I love the Hard Kandy events, my fav was Billboards, its so happy fun and hard! Kandy try to keep the bright colours and accessories alive.

I agree, events are the best, but they can get heaps expensive (Pharmacy events).
There are alot of young ones at bass, but it varies, and who cares really, its the music that counts most.
Ive noticed PHD and 3d there are alot of people who sit in one spot 'munted' not moving all night, some make me a little uneasy, some stare.
First time i went to phd i though there were lots of snobs, but that wasnt true, everyone was cool, some just came off as a bit snobby, like instead of laughing or ignoring when i said something stuped in the toilets, i got greezy looks.

True true nicci :) :)

Im just a lil jaded i think haha..

Edit : Oh by pretensious i meant house clubs.. I don't understand why i have to line up for an hour to go to the toilet. That does't happen anywhere else:|

I guess ive also changed my tastes when it comes to dance music over the last couple of years, those hardstyle clubs just don't seem to appeal to me anymore. Back in the day they did tho.. Yes, i was once one of those little 15 year olds  haha

Brisbane - Family. Crowds can be a bit average but just for the pure layout, size and style of the club. Also they do get good DJs for Qld.

Melbourne - The loung in Swanston St. Unsure if its still open cos have not been to Melb for a while but that place was cosy and played some of the sickest chunky electro ever.

Bass & Bubble are definately NOT even in a category for a good club.

Unfortunately Australias best Dance club is no longer anymore...

I rated Ambar. Went to see Dave Seaman when I was in Perth... nice setup, great crowd.

As for Sydney, I've only been to Chinese Laundry once, but had a great night there. Slip Inn gets major points for the beer garden anyway :)

ARQ has an awesome sound system and club layout - I've been meaning to go to one of the psy/trance nights there. I can only handle the cheesy gay music that gets played on a normal night for short periods. Friendly crowd though, and non-threatening for a female.

Failing that, Brown Alley.

Main events at Bass are in the best category. Sound system, layout, atmoshphere and music are all top notch.

Thorpey says any club that has a jumping castle in its outdoors area is fully sick.

As for the punters...well, we just won't go into that shall we.

I went to 3D for the first time last Fri night. I felt dirty going into the club. I felt dirty being in the club. And I felt dirty coming out of the club just because that's where I had spent most of my night. I scrubbed and I scrubbed to get the dirt off, but dammit, they don't make hot water hot enough.

^Yeah 3D is pretty scungy. The psy events there are horrible. Shit system. You can feel the floor below's bass while dancing which throws you off.

Can't say anything about Bass because I've never been and have no intention to.

Lounge is average, good if there's nowhere else. I generally find myself more partial to bars than clubs, unless there's an act I want to see. Friends of mine have no problem going out and not caring about who's playing but for me to go to any venue for a big night I need to know and enjoy the music being played, and to a lesser extent the person playing it.

Doofs are ze way of the samurai. :D

Well i guess if you go to the same club everyweek and get to know everyone that goes there you enjoy it more... so i guess thats why i rate bubble as the best dance club in melb

I is a chinese laundry fan in sydney. And someone mentioned arq? Yes I like arq, but not on a regular basis- on a once every so often basis I absolutely love it there and come out of there at whatever time the next morning thinking I'll never go anywhere else again, but when I do happen back there the next week I think "why?" I'd prefer somewhere like laundry on a regular basis....

Haven't lived in Oz for a few years but:

SYD- Plastic (what's happening now?)
PER- Rise with Ambar close behind
Darwin- Throb.

Cheers,
S.
