Arrests after teenage M-CAT users die in Lincolnshire (UK)

Will they please stop calling mephedrone "MCAT" for fuck's sake.

Yeah, the Medical College Admission Test doesn't need its name sullied by this shitty drug.

I once considered trying mephedrone, then read some reports and thought mmm nah. One or two times a year when I want the effect mephedrone users are seeking, I'll hold out for some real MDMA.

I remember a friend asked me to pick some up for them from a headshop while I was on the way to theirs, I went in and asked the guy behind the counter if he had any Mephedrone.. he stood there looking confused for a couple of seconds and then went "Oh.. you mean Meow Meow" and made a little clawing jesture with his hand. Needless to say I left the shop without any mephedrone.

On topic: Methadone, that makes much more sense.. I doubt the meph had much to do with it atall but no doubt headlines will still rage "MEPHEDRONARRGHGHGHHGGHG"

all over the news, meph kills again etc, hang on ur journalists not doctors leave it till the evidence is found, could be any number things. r.i.p. boys, hope the press dont ruin ur name like that poor girls family a few months back.

they mixed booze and "illegal methadone" so they probably didn't have much of a tolerance, i wouldn't be surprised if it was the booze and methadone that killed them... mephedrone is once again being used as a scapegoat.

Allthough i do agree that it is dangerous up to a certain point... if we had MDMA at reasonable prices people wouldn't be buying mephedrone

Definitely sounds like the Alcohol + Methadone is the culprit. Thought this would be the case. And yuppers whoremoaning, too true :|

If you want to rant about how evil mephedrone is, then there are plenty of other, more relevant threads on Bluelight you should have a look at. I'd like to try and keep this thread on topic as I foresee some follow-up articles being posted in the next few days. :)

if that was to me, im not saying "how evil meph is" etc.
what i said is true though, the vast majority of people taking it are idiots who dont know anything about it or many other substances they consume.

if somebody dies from an OD of meph or whatever, without having looked up any info on it, then serves them right.
took a chemical with no prior knowledge of its chemistry, dosage or mechanisms, and died as a result of idiocy.

although the government is to blame partially in this.
what they SHOULD be doing is putting out PROPER drug info.

not that "talk to frank" shite thats all "oh drugs are bad, m'kay?", but actual facts,
a presentation of proper info for the citizens to view and make their private hobbies/habits safer for themselves.

like the classic quote -
"criminal law as a means of regulating what the population does is a wholly bad idea" (or something to that effect)

i have been watching a few people slowly kill themselves on this shit. How can anyone say its not dangerous? do you know the long term damage? its a self centered horrible substance. i have used it at birthdays etc but only a tiny amount and enjoyed it but not a few days later. never again, i see teenagers once healthy and happy turning into empty shells, god knows what its doing to their insides. and vital organs. yuk!!!!

Well said mate- I've only done it a few times and never done that much- but last night i cained it a bit(about 1 & 1/2 g's) but drank a fair bit on it too.

I absoultely love meow, but feel it is a considerable gamble to consider taking this substance ever again. I think people need to get of their high horse's and not to tempt fate- as i know if i got into serious trouble with this one-hit wonder drug i would consider myself extremely foolish. JUST STOP TAKING IT NOW; WE ARE ALL STUPID AND CAPABLE OF DYING WHEN TAKING THIS DRUG!8o I am a risk taker, but their is no such thing as risk with this drug, it's just stupidity, and selfishness imo. FUK MEOW :!

However i write this knowing nothing of the real consequences of taking the drug, but hold this view with the little information (and obvious lack off) that i am aware off. Basically, don't take anymore of this stuff until we all know the repercussions. The end....

LOL LOL LOL- that is some funny shit about the guy in the headshop man. It is funny how on the news they left out the methdaone bit- I absolutely cained mephedrone and alcohol last night and combo didnt feel too bad really. I think it is probably safe to say it's the methadone responsible. However, I'm still not touching meow till more info is delivered, as i would look stupid being the next victim, with my mug-shot on every tabloid etc

Can i also add- it seems strange that these lads went on to take methadone AFTER meow, seeing as they weren't renowned drug takers. Perhaps the meow made them more prone to buying the methadone...... (i'm just trying to justify a reason to ban meow to sound PC) However one of the dead boy's brother sounded like a right druggie and said his bro never touched drugs and would have told him. Who knows???

David Knutt probqbly knows a fair bit bout mephedrone and he thinks it should be class D - available to over 18s.

Its very interesting. Possibly a turning point of sorts. I can imagine the ban on meph could lead to a very extensive ban on stuff like salvia, kratom, kava, coca tea, who knows.

The thing is, in the channel 4 news they only mentioned about them taking mephedrone and explained its legal, and even showed a 5g baggie with the contents being poured frantically onto a table, only for every single innocent looking particle to be seen shimmering most elegantly on my screen.

However, when they find out it was methadone, people will most likely confuse it with mephedrone seeing as methadone was never initally mentioned. Do you rekon these kids bought the methadone thinking it was mephedrone? I dont know what methadone even looks like, but according to the families, the lads werent into drugs and would never touch illegal substances. Like i said previously, on the news they didn't mention methadone, which really confuses me, as it would have made the illegal part of their parents speech null and void.

In an ideal world...

None of this is really surprising, bound to happen & just a matter of time. Nothing more to contribute but to add that this is all very STUPID yet very, very sad for the families and everyone else involved regardless of the details.

I hope this will be a wake-up call to some people to think about consequences before they act.

Oh god save us. I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or hang myself.

I used to go to John Leggott College and had seen these guys around, a lot of my friends knew them. Louis Wainwright's mum is actually a friend of my grandma.
What the media is only slightly touching upon is the fact that they used A LOT OF methadone to come down off of the mephedrone high after they had been drinking all night, which is incredibly dangerous. It's also suspected that the mephedrone was cut with something.

In my opinion this is not a "meph death". Far from it.

very possible. this is what happens when the government doesnt provide its populous with info and facts, to help make drug use in the UK safer for everyone

Yeh i agree- one of my mates as well as half of his uni campus, were recently buying methedrone of a student dealer thinking it was mephedrone for christ's sakes. Only when i went up there i asked the dealer what it was and he confirmed straight up it was methedrone he purchased from a lab in person.

People aren't guna ask questions unless they are educated on all these similarly sounding drugs. I think i only found out about methedrone because i spelt mephedrone wrong when trying to research it. But alot of the other dealers i have spoken to know nothing about methedrone and when last night(i was completely wasted) i said it was bk..... another dealer was like ''bk-mdma- thats methylone'', and i was like na its umm ..... bk-mp.. lol i obviously meant to say bk-pmma but was too pissed, but the guy seemed intelligent enough, but when it comes to drugs ALOT of people like him don't do any type of real research on the drug that they are selling to the masses. He was indeed selling mephedrone hence why he had no idea about methedrone, but still the guy selling methedrone probably little idea about it's chemistry either. Basically we all need educating on this shit.

I research alot, mainly i think because i used to take a pharmaceutical regularly which was extremely controversial, and so i read as much as i could about it to be as informed as possible.

Oh god save us. I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or hang myself.

I laughed my fucking head off. immensely funny

i have tried everything over the years and always enjoyed recreational use but havnt come across something this nasty, not to mention the me me me and I I I 'listen to me i have a better story' bullshit . only time will tell, in the meantime kids who wouldnt be able to experiment with other stuff (price and availability) are using this on a regular basis. there will be more deaths from long term users and kids younger than ever, non drug users etc. (who think its ok cause its legal its a plant food its ok) its not ok.:!:X. down here its called sherbal, herb, so that makes it ok. NOT!!!

You can't quote your own message...

Oh yeh, on a side note, I noticed earlier today before i had heard about the tragic death's that one of the main sites i have used for purchasing mephedrone were taking order's upto 4:30pm promising same day dispatch, compared to 2:00pm last week. Could have heard the story before we did and decided to take drastic action. They must be absolutely raking it in.......

This is an ultimately depressing possible scenario yes :| But hopefully the more astute and knowledgeable of the media monsters will be able to tell the difference (Methadone is after all, quite well known by the media due to it being used in ORT).
Methadone usually comes in a linctus or in tablets, I've never known of it to come in pure powder, atleast not widely available to the average John/Jane Doe on a night out.
I'm fairly sure they'll have used it to come down and either:
a. Were farrrrr too pissed up on booze and died as a result of respiratory depression or...
b. Didn't know the Methadone would take a good 30-40mins to come on and took way too much and OD'd.

Oh, and as for one of the guy's parents saying he didn't use drugs... Well, he obviously did :\ Parents are not always fully aware of their kids lives. They like to think they are, but 7/10's of the time (or more) don't have a clue what they get up to.
