The most recent ideas of intelligence encompass way more than just typical educational learning.
sorry for the tangent....
but i feel this has arisen mainly from our more-egalitarian society's push to recognise that a person's intelligence...(in the original sense...speed of learning..speed of connection-making/comprehension etc) isnt the most important attribute upon which people should be valued and judged.
people are always jealous of intelligent people because, ultimately, most people would like to be smarter than they are.
I've always felt very keenly that intelligence was only an aspect of my personality...which is the thing that should be judged... and that it didnt set me apart as better than anyone else, just different.
I know its easy to say...but i look around me and, despite what most people say, they do think that their intelligence sets them above others.
after that huge digression
i think girls have a far greater emotional intelligence than guys, and that it develops much earlier... girls, by physiological requirement, are less carefree than boys from an earlier age...one explanation?
and despite the fact that i define the ideal the fizzygirl brought up a bit differently, i firmly believe in emotional intelligence...
