Americans fucking suck

Yeah because that's how it works.
Have one of you stepped up and fixed the Brexit situation yet?

hahahaha. there's only 70 million of us compared to your 350, and no one has worked out brexit is gonna take away our holiday time yet. plus no one even knows if sorting out brexit is possible, no other country has managed it, whereas even the french (especially the french!!) have managed to get decent employment rights.

i have to find new ways to channel my insanity now i'm not supposed to smoke crack anymore and making absurd comments on the internet seems a relatively benign option.

as a serious answer: loads of stuff about the US sucks, their healthcare, obesity, police, worse racism than a lot of other places, education even up to PhD level (excpeting caltech and MIT) is atrocious, employment rights, foreign policy, climate policy, this fucking exceptionalism/land of the 'free' bullshit that allows most of this to happen, loads of fucking car crashes.

with respect to writing in particular. i'm not sure its fair to judge the country that produced cormac mccarthy and david foster wallace's literature output on a druggy forum. i mean i haven't read much in words but is there anything good in there? is it like everything is gold apart from stuff written by yanks? i highly doubt it.

Yeah they really do suck, what the fuck are some Yanks watching LOTM 2 & uploading their view on 26th May 2017?

Jokers pure & simple!!!

Bit of a stretch don't you think?

Oh by the way...how is that Boris Johnson thing going for you guys?

He's not PM yet, but if he does become PM, we may have to start referring to the UK as the US of Europe. I mean between him and Farage, I can scarce tell the difference between our friends across the pond and our loud, obnoxious neighbour.

I just would have thought that a country so full of intelligent and sophisticated people would have rejected someone like him.

The problem is a lot of people voted to leave the EU & their foul ECJ, CFP, CAP etc Communist nightmare & I was one of them so make no mistake upon that.
What has happened is over the time since the people spoke some shady fuckers with their own agenda have managed to poison the minds of a lot of voters & make them think the UK is great & we had some amazing history before all the people came over from the lesser EU countries like Romania for example. Boris Johnson on the Brexit bus was a fine example of this waving a Cornish pasty out the window, does he even know Cornwall was once its own country ffs & has its own flag like Wales I wonder?

I voted to leave the EU for reasons a billion times removed from these "Make Britain Great again" types & sadly over the years the Brexit camp has broken down into several groups imho, the loudest voice still comes from the kinda people that like to worship pictures of Oswald Mosley & if this was back in the early 1950 would have had signs up saying "No Dogs, No Irish No Blacks" & shout "Nigger" at Jamacian people coming off the boat.

nah mate the british are people and therefore mostly idiots and/or cunts.

its just relative, soon the impact of US style healthcare, food standards and employment laws on the collective psyche will probably make us even more similar.

i can't believe i'm defending boris johnson but one thing he has massively on trump is he is not stupid. he has been controlling the government from the back seat for a long time and he has carefully cultivated his public persona because its usually useful to pretend you're stupider than you are, people let their guards down. it plays right to people's egos. still don't want him to be PM was really hoping his court case last week would end that possibility but instead nothing happened.

There seems to be an air in the world that people believe more in following systems that don't work compared to systems that do. I think this is untrue. People are mistaken on average, not stupid on average. Slurring about America and how it sucks is hardly useful, but as an American, I completely get the frustration. This country has big issues, but when ideologues run a country, that's what happens. It'll turn out ok.

by definition, 50% of people are of below average intelligence. average intelligence is pretty stupid. therefore, most people are stupid.

Surely you mean "by definition, 50% of people are of average intelligence"? Therefore, 25% are below, and 25% above. That's how averages work baby... ;)

(No doubt you'll come back with something smart about how the average doesn't always equate to the mean - but I stand my ground =D )

nope, you're taking average as a range. average is a number and i do mean mean. consider the mean of 1 and 3:
here
-----0-----1-----2----3-----4

there are 0 members of the set [1, 3] that are average, but 2 is still the average of that set. the average intelligence is the average of a suitable metric for intelligence, for example IQ (i don't care if IQ is an accurate reflection of intelligence or not, its an example).

The average IQ is 100 apparently (for british anyway, its 98 for americans, i just looked it up). we don't even have to have one person with average IQ, it's just overall, that's the number closest to the most people's IQs

so we can have:

70---------------------------------------------------100------------------------------------------------130-------------me
{ most people from here to .....................................................................................................here)
^
not 50% of people here |

i did assume that intelligence is normally distributed, so follows the standard symmetric bell-shaped curve. if you draw a line down the middle of that, which is by definition the average of a normal distribution, half of the datapoints are below it, and half are above.

Haha, way to shoot me down girl =D

(Note to self: never argue statistics with someone with a PHD in quantum computing - especially as it's a subject I was shit at).

Now the vodkas worn off, I can see the flaw in my logic - i'd got it in my head that an IQ of 100 represented 50% of any population, but that doesn't really work... 8(
