2012 Olympic flaming

Maybe when I was younger. Sonny. ;)

I think your experience of progressive types reflects your age - people are naturally more extreme in their twenties, full of piss and vinegar and that.

Anyone who doesn't take themselves seriously in their twenties is surely missing the point of their twenties, no?

I dunno. SHM seems to buck your trend rather well! I don't really believe in a lot very strongly to be honest. I can barely muster up the effort to vote. I must say I do like arguing/debating and pissing people off though. I wonder if that comes across :sus:

Sorry dude, I most likely misconstrued your political awareness and accountability for which I apologise for. I just get mad at the the learnt idea that patriotism equates to xenophobia, intolerance, racism and nazisim, tis a taught idea in our educational system to drag us down as a society.
I don't think it's a bad thing to be house proud, you can be house proud no matter where you're from, that is what citizenship is all about. For instance, I think the motto 'keep Britain tidy' is a great patriotic statment. it doesn't display any hatred towards any group except for litterbugs and I think we can all agree that not littering is a good thing.

i think the Olympics will be spectacular personally, we may have fucked up Wembley but we did a pretty good job of the Commonwealth games; probably because we spawned the whole idea but hey...

I agree with your sentiment. I am particularly perturbed by the expected collective guilt we should apparently feel for our imperialistic past. I can see what we did wrong and what we did right, and I think Britain is in a rather large surplus in terms of positive things it has given to the world. For instance we are criticised for our involvement in slavery, but the part where we did away with that industry in the majority of the world we ruled where it had been practised for time immemorial is always neglected.

Radical dude. Plus some of us had working class upbringings where our fathers died at 53 working for a shitty system that shat on them.

So, er, fuck right off.

Calm down, I didn't kill him you know. Thank you for perfectly illustrating my point that whatever age you are you can be an over zealous twat.

Is Botfly not the mad UKIP dude? I'm willing to bet that he won't/can't admit that.
I are not crazy UKIP will become the truth in years to come! Admittedly there are some teething problems but the idea as a whole is not to be sniffed at, an independent and cohesive Europe. A libertarian Britain. The belief that people can govern themselves. As George Orwell said ''Libertarianism or Totalitarianism'' although he was a socialist so got a bit confused along the way. My main man Nigel Farage is the Ron Paul of Europe and will become Prime Minister one day, that's if he doesn't get assassinated as they tried the last election day. If he can continue on after a near death experience like that you know he is fighting for something.

Pot, kettle... :D

Fuck it, I'm going to say 'sambo'.

Believe me, it's most definitely for the best that someone your age doesn't understand the word 'sambo'.

O I know about that word, I thought it was referring to something else - some sort of in joke or something. I was watching a show about the 70s the other day where they were just freely using it. It seems the superiority complex over race is only just leaving us.

Damn right. You can always look at the past of nations, whichever one on Earth and find all sorts horrors committed and then demonise the current generation for past mistakes. It seems only the negative parts of a nations history(mainly your own) is focused on. The system doesn't like to show progress within a system and tries to perpetuate guilt which leads to an incohesive society. It's all fucking bullshit.
Like you say Britain gets a lot of stick for slavery but everyone ignores the monumental steps Britain walked to set the trend of abolishing the whole idea of human enslavement.
I'm not exactly in love with the UK, the fucking weather is shit, most people are annoying and uptight and i'd rather live elsewhere but for such a rich history the nation has, I think it's capable of being better than it is currently. Standards areslipping drastically. We should be at the forefront of innovation and new ideas imo. I suppose we are still but the chav culture and fluoride in our drinking water is holding us down.

Botfly, the fact that you identify with the actions of people long, long dead is, to my mind, a mystery! What the fuck has it got to do with you, or me? I take neither the blame for slavery nor the credit for abolishing it.

You've been watching Doug Stanhope haven't you? He's great but a comedian at the end of the day.
I don't take any credit or flack for any part of the past either, I'm just saying that the educational system incrementally conditions us to feel more helpless and less aware of the struggles that our ancestors fought and died for. They fought much harder battles for their rights than we could ever imagine. My point being is that it would be a waste to let go of those hard fought for rights. And no the threat isn't immigrants or whatever, the main threat is government as it always has been.
Completely off topic except we the tax payer are paying for it all...heard the olympic stadium has triangles on it like the all seeing eye thingy. Also the 2012 logo spells ZION! I think it's not an accident tbh. Is London the New Jerusalem?

Almost every major structure has triangles on it. It is the strongest shape in engineering! And you really have to squint to see the 2012 logo as spelling zion lol.

Oh well conspiracy theories are cool and make the world seem mysterious hehe which it is anyway. Let's hope they are bullshit.

Oh my fucking (dark, non-Christian) lord, not that pile of tripe.

That was just a few concessions from a ridiculous hereditary monarch to an equally-ridiculous 'nobility'; a trend which has been echoed in that laughable, class-diseased "traditional" British identity ever since. An identity few actual Britons believe in, hence the (real) British tradition of self-mockery.

A fucking admirable one, too, and one which jingoists easily lose sight of.

Few Britons believe in Habeas Corpus now? That's the groundwork for the struggle us commoners across the world are constantly fighting for.

"And did those feet in ancient times......"

Little did I think when I began this thread that I would inadvertently be opening up such a Pandora's Box of argument and bickering on such seemingly unrelated matters.

I hate the fact that our country is a mere shadow of it's former self and that every day that goes past we lose a little more of our standing in the world.

We should go back to colonizing poor countries around the world, murdering the people, stealing their resources and raping the countries for all their worth. Sounds like a plan to me.

But yeah, my long-term relationships (for what they're worth) have generally been with women of the feminist persuasion. Which isn't at all uncommon in my chosen social circles.

Why would you date feminists? You'd be as well just dating a man as feminists, ironically, are just men with tits but more boring to talk to. Fucking annoying as well with all their shit opinions on everything. Women should go back to being womanly instead of trying to be like men.
