Terence McKenna is a highly compelling, intelligent, entertaining speaker, he has a great way with words, and even his tone and rythm and emphasis are beautiful to listen to.

But he doesn't necessarily deal in FACTS.

Actually I'm not. And I totally agree with MM that - much as I the Divine Tel McKen - he does talk a lotta pure twaddle in amongst the outright genius. Such is life. I'd happily listen to even his most cringeworthy ramblings cos the good bits inbetween are so insanely good that I can forgive all. It's the way he tells it

Have also heard the Olympics are to be held in London this year. Only just cos I'm fond of the occasional panel show though. Honestly wouldn't've noticed otherwise. So glad I gave up on "news" and stuff years ago. Utter waste of time, money and energy. Much like...

I actually rather like the sporty bits. More or less the only sporting event I have even the slightest interest in. Where it happens to be held means nary a fuck to me though... other than I assume even the lowly like of I will have to pay for it a bit. Given the rather *ahem* forceful policy that's been adopted regarding advertising and any mention, use, or even remotest of vaguest of fuzziest hints at or to the Olympic "brand" you'd think that'd all be in the hands of the approved corporate entities really. Not like they can't afford it and aren't the ultimate beneficiaries anyway. Naturally.

When is it, by the way? I know it's fairly soon cos there's a thread 'bout it but am fairly sure it's not on telly yet. Am fond of the athletics and wouldn't mind watching a bit of that.

Hmm, dunno, I'd guess it's starting fairly soon. Many of London's roads are in total chaos while they try to mend them up by temporarily reducing them to one lane, filling the rest with fat men in hi vis vests standing around ogling women and installing machine gun towers at the corner of every major thoroughfare.

I love the Olympics in and of itself. I am just not keen on hosting it because I don't see the point when they would have gone ahead any way. I like the way it feels like the whole world is getting in on the action, and for once we all together. It's good to watch man push the boundaries of what can be achieved, because you're guaranteed to see at least a few records get broken too. I am getting fucking pissed off with this advertising onslaught though, it's worse than ever this year. I sit down to take a shit and my toilet paper is sponsoring the olympics ffs.

I haven't noticed any advertising whatsoever. I don't use commercial TV or radio though, and I don't buy newspapers much.
